Re: [Bug 563878] Re: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver
All the work arounds are great, glad we figured them out. However this is a bug, not a bug to work around but a bug to be fixed. Its been many months since this issue has existed. Quite frankly I think it might be best to start looking into alternate means of splash screens besides plymouth since it is unfriendly with so many video card drivers, (or rather a few drivers that so many people seem to use). On Tue, Nov 16, 2010 at 4:55 PM, Nathaniel Wilson dubr...@gmail.com wrote: The fix posted by Mauricio Parra Casado worked on my ATI laptop (Maverick.) Unfortunately my screen's native resolution wasn't available, but at 1024x768, it's still a lot better than before. I'd like to say to anybody that brushes this problem aside as unimportant because the boot splash is only seen shortly, that this is about QUALITY. If a car maker were to build a car that could run forever, but sputters and runs rough for 15 seconds after being started every time from the factory, nobody would call it a quality auto. [Bug 563878] Re: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver
well personally I am using the proprietary Nvidia Driver. If I might add my two cents here, I think we all would like both sides of the coin in this ideally, that is shininess and efficiency (at least I would), and one of these sides right now is severely lacking. Possible temp fix for NVidia users until the upstream guys give a crap. [Bug 563878] Re: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver
I am effected by this as well, and if I may put in my two cents as an ubuntu user, for me personally, graphics trump speed, especially with the (formerly) sleak splash. so to all who say that speed is more important that a shiny splash, and that it goes so fast it doesnt matter, as an ubuntu user, and knowing many others who feel the same way, we do like the shiny more than the speed. [Bug 537588] [NEW] [Lucid] left click on touchpad drags items and windows ctrl-left click does the regular left click
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gsynaptics when in programs and other windows, the left click function of my touch pad just grabs things, regardless of where it clicks, including buttons. to make a normal left click i have to press ctrl-left click. in the regular desktop, (the icons and other files there) the left click works fine but the right click doesn't exist. right click works fine in windows. Using Lucid Lynx Beta 32 bit on an IBM thinkpad t42, updated last today 3/11/10 at 2:00. dmesg shows the touchpad driver loading fine, so I'm guessing its a driver problem.
