[Bug 58541] Re: libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
Things get worse than that. How about freezes on common ATI hardware: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/38181 ...and non-functional Matrox drivers: https://launchpad.net/distros/debian/+source/xserver-xorg-video-mga/+bug/58721 The package maintainers don't seem to care. Maintaining a package is more than compiling the latest version and if you don't have the time to do that then don't upgrade until you do! -- libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b https://launchpad.net/bugs/58541 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 38181] Re: Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE)
Edgy became a release candidate and this bug is still wide open! The only way to get rid of those freezes is to comment out Load "dri" in xorg.conf. Maybe this should be the default for all modern ATI cards as a workaround? Also, why does this bug not show up at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bugs ? -- Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE) https://launchpad.net/bugs/38181 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 64361] Re: Word erase
Ahhh, that did the trick. I should have done my homework more carefully. :$ Normally a shell listens to the EDITOR variable but tcsh needs "bindkey -v". I also think that it is a weird decision to make emacs the default instead of the classic vi, especially since the emacs mode totally ignores the stty settings. (this has nothing to do with emacs vs. vi!) Anyway, thanks you for your help. You are really helpfull and fast. :) -- Word erase https://launchpad.net/bugs/64361 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 38181] Re: Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE)
The modifications in xorg.conf as suggested by @Ste_it do not help for a ATI X700 (RV410) Any application that requires 3D, including screensavers, glxgears and even glxinfo, will freeze the system instantaneous. Sure. How much time do you give him or should I open a new bug? At least the symptoms are the same. As soon as the KDE desktop shows up you get a message of the kdesktop crash.
