[Bug 1661885] Re: libwt-doc delivers only very incomplete documentation

Won't fix. This is a bug on the version of doxygen available in 16.04
and I cannot fix it. It also happened on Debian with the very same
version of Doxygen. It is already fixed in next versions.

If you delete the /var/lib/apt/lists, then apt-cache show will show the

If you apt-get update, then apt-cache show will once more not show the

[Bug 1169456] [NEW] Duplicate package

2013-04-16 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.04 contains 2 packages with the same software:

- jplayer: Ubuntu-only package, contains an old version (1.2.0). It was also
available in 12.10.
- libjs-jquery-jplayer + jquery-jplayer-bluemonday + jquery-jplayer-pinkflag:
the Debian package (which I'm the maintainer of), contains a newer version
(2.1.0, to be updated this week due to a security fix). It has become available
in 13.04.

IMHO, jPlayer should be provided with the libjs-jquery-jplayer package
and the 'jplayer' package be reduced to a transitional package.

The transition plan would be like this:
- I will add to libjs-jquery-jplayer these fields: Replaces: jplayer (
2.1.0~) and Conflicts: jplayer ( 2.1.0~) and maintain them at least until
Ubuntu 12.10 runs ouf of support.
- You will add to jplayer this field: Depends: libjs-jquery-jplayer. This
package needs to be separately maintained because I will not be providing it in
Debian (it is not required and violates the archive policy).

Please tell me what you think

couple of bugfixed I have upstreamed and a cross-site scripting attack
in a third-party component which I expect to be fixed very soon.

What version of Ubuntu are you interested? The first one to receive Wt

8.04.

This is an upstream problem. They are not setting a reduced link
interface:

http://techbase.kde.org/Development/CMake_KDE_4_2#New:_The_reduced_link_interface

I'll talk to upstream and we may work on it this summer but it's
definitely not a bug in the packaging.

[Bug 900354] Reduced link interface

2012-06-01 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Hi,

A while ago a bug was reported in Ubuntu:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/witty/+bug/900354

It boils down to this: building an application which uses Wt requires
linking to some libraries (Boost Signals, etc), even if the
application does not directly use them. That can be solved by
establishing a so-called link interface for libwt, libwthttp, etc.
It's documented here:

http://techbase.kde.org/Development/CMake_KDE_4_2#New:_The_reduced_link_interface
http://cmake.org/cmake/help/v2.8.8/cmake.html#command:target_link_libraries

I cannot work on this on my (nonexistent) spare time[*] at the moment,
just mentioning the problem and the solution in case other people are
affected.

[*] But of course if someone is interested in sponsoring, do not
hesitate to contact me

[Bug 886456] Re: Built-in httpd does not render any widget

2011-11-08 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Colin,

That's exactly it: a no-change rebuild.

Why it fixes the problem? Upstream identified the problem as a missing
\ in jQuery.min.js:

http://redmine.emweb.be/boards/2/topics/3171#message-3201

When building Wt, jQuery is embedded into the libwt.so library. I'm not
sure why, but either CMake (failing substitution?) or libjs-jquery
caused the problem. Now that CMake and/or libjs-jquery work fine,
building Wt embeds the right jQuery.min.js.

Sorry for not being more precise, but I have not been able to isolate it
further.

[Bug 886456] Re: Built-in httpd does not render any widget

2011-11-05 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
I've compared the jQuery versions related to this issue:

- jQuery 1.4b1 (bundled with Wt 3.1.10)
- jQuery 1.5-2ubuntu1 (shipped by Ubuntu 11.04)
- jQuery 1.6.2-1ubuntu2 (shipped by Ubuntu 11.10)

I regenerated the jQuery packages on 11.04 and 11.10, and applied
filetostring.cmake to convert them to C++.

This is the result:

pgquiles@oneiric64:~/wt/a$ md5sum *

9aa1f726fb931af7714ab894702ae051 jquery.min.js-1.6.2-oneiric

Apparently, there is no difference in the jquery.min.js or the C++ code
generated by filetostring from 11.04 or from 11.10.

(There are differences in jQuery 1.5, but they do not affect us, as
that's what was used in 11.04, and that version worked fine)

Maybe Wt does is incompatible with jQuery 1.6.2? (changing from jQuery
1.4 to 1.5/1.6 has reportedly caused problems in the Wordpress package).

According to Koen, the problem is a missing '\'. I can't see at the
moment how could an incompatibility cause a disappearing '\'. I'm still
trying to isolate the problem.

[Bug 721453] [NEW] nvidia-settings should depend on pkg-config and python-gtk

2011-02-18 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-settings

nvidia-settings uses pkg-config and python-gtk2 to read/write xorg.conf.

If they are not installed, nvidia-settings will work mostly fine (you
can choose new resolutions, configure dual screen, etc and apply
changes) but when you try to save your configuration, it will either not
write anything, or write a corrupt xorg.conf.

This is mostly noticed on Kubuntu because python-gtk2 is not needed on
Kubuntu, and pkg-config will only be installed by developers.

This is probably the root cause of bugs LP 439192 and LP 286424

[Bug 591224] Re: New upstream available: v. 3.1.3

2010-09-21 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Closing as invalid for the following reasons:

- Please, do not use bug reports to request the upload of a new version.
The maintainer knows there is a new version. If the maintainer has not
uploaded a new version, there is a reason for that. Namely, 3.1.3, 3.1.4
and 3.1.5 are broken soversion-wise. 3.1.5 will be uploaded soon with a
fix after talking with upstream.

- Even if using bug reports to request a new version was justified (it
is not), the proper place to do that would be the Debian bugtracker.
Ubuntu inherits packages from Debian unless you see ubuntu in the
version number.

This bug is fixed in libmsn 4.1, which is packaged (it has been for

Because it breaks ABI compatibility and we are waiting for the right

when you click the Save to X Configuration File in the X Server
Display Configuration page, the nvidia-settings application tries to
invoke pkg-config and fails.

2009-10-24 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
There are no public packages of beta8 for Debian or any version of
Ubuntu yet. Packages are ready in my computer but there is an issue but
I am trying to work out with upstream (problem is libmsn 4.0 = beta7
breaks binary compatibility but upstream did not bump soname; upstream
acknowledges the problem exists but has done nothing to fix it).

Since Karmic is already frozen, I guess it won't be on time. It will
also be available in my PPA (

[Bug 229239] [NEW] flashplugin-nonfree not detected by Konqueror in KDE4

2008-05-11 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

In KUbuntu Hardy KDE4 remix, when you install flashplugin-nonfree, it
installs to /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree. This directory is not in the
list of directories Konqueror searches for default for Netscape plugins,
therefore even after you install flashplugin-nonfree, Flash does not
work.

directories Konqueror4 searches for.

[Bug 182409] A Flame About 64-bit Pointers

2008-01-12 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

(Please note this is a copy paste from Donald E. Knuth's homepage:
http://www-cs-faculty.stanford.edu/~uno/news.html - Given who he is, I think
the issue should receive a bit of love. I also reported the bug to gcc, it's
bug #34764)

It is absolutely idiotic to have 64-bit pointers when I compile a
program that uses less than 4 gigabytes of RAM. When such pointer values
appear inside a struct, they not only waste half the memory, they
effectively throw away half of the cache.

The gcc manpage advertises an option -mlong32 that presumably does
what I want. Namely, it should compile code for my x86-64 architecture,
taking advantage of the extra registers etc., but it should also know
that my program is going to live inside a 32-bit virtual address space.

Unfortunately, the gcc I got with Ubuntu 7.10 says that -mlong32 is an
unknown option. Probably that happens because programs compiled with
this convention will need to be loaded with a special version of libc.

Please, somebody, make that possible.

[Bug 125325] Live CD should provide information for Windows/Mac users after boot

2007-07-11 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

When the KUbuntu live CD boots, it shows an immaculate desktop with an
Install icon.

If you are an experienced Linux or KDE users, or someone has explained
how to start with it, you might dare to try some applications and
eventually find that Konqueror is the Internet Explorer equivalent,
OpenOffice Writer (or KWord) the Microsoft Word equivalent, etc.

If you are new to Linux, most probably you will just turn off your
computer because you will not know what to and do not want to put your
computer in risk. Probably you won't ever know what a Live CD is,
therefore you will be wondering what the $)= has happenned to your
wonderful Windows Vista desktop. You will be so scared you will not try
to use that CD again unless someone provides you with some information.

I think KUbuntu (and Ubuntu, and every LiveCD) should show, right after
booting, an informative page with a brief introduction to the
distribution (KUbuntu, in this case) for newbies. Something as simple as
a Konqueror showing a webpage would do (Knoppix shows some information,
although it is not as useful as I'd like it to be). Some of the contents
I would like to see:

1. Welcolme to KUbuntu, a free software Linux distribution by Canonical
Ltd and the KUbuntu community (exactly that, no more words wasted)

2. You computer and data are safe!!! They have not been erased by this
CD, and nothing will happen to them unless you explicitly do. If you
reboot your computer without this KUbuntu CD, you will be able to use
Windows and your data again. Beware that clicking on Install,
repartitioning your hard drive (if such an utility is available with a
GUI), or mounting in read/write mode your Windows drivers might lead to
destructive actions.

3. KUbuntu is the combination of Linux and KDE and is, at least, as good
as Windows. KUbuntu is free but paid support is available from Canonical
and others. Everything you currently do with Windows, you can do with
KUbuntu.

4. List of some equivalents of Windows applications:

[Bug 117897] Re: df does not show free space if using UUIDs

2007-06-05 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Interestingly, Filelight also fails to display the space used by UUID-
mounted filesystems. Maybe the bug is not in coreutils. I am attaching a
screenshot.

The /media/* partitions are not mounted because I am not mounting them
but that is not the point of this bug report. The problem is 'df' does
not show the free space in '/'.

[Bug 117897] Re: df does not show free space if using UUIDs

I am using a SATA system, which is SCSI emulation. No RAID. If you can't
reproduce this bug in an IDE system, I guess that makes a difference. I
am using Feisty stock coreutils. This bug was also present in Edgy, by
the way.

Binary package hint: coreutils

If a partition is mounted using its UUID (for instance
UUID=f83c0f6e-8336-4851-a899-183efe54791b) instead of the device

[Bug 115240] Needs packaging

2007-05-17 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

libtomcrypt, an easy-to-use cryptography library, needs to be packaged
It can be downloaded from http://libtom.org

Package: libtomcrypt
Version: 1.17
Upstream Author : Tom St Denis [EMAIL PROTECTED]
URL : http://libtom.org
License : Public Domain
Description :
LibTomCrypt is a fairly comprehensive, modular and portable cryptographic
toolkit that provides developers with a vast array of well known published
block ciphers, one-way hash functions, chaining modes, pseudo-random number
generators, public key cryptography and a plethora of other routines.
LibTomCrypt has been designed from the ground up to be very simple to use. It
has a modular and standard API that allows new ciphers, hashes and PRNGs to be
added or removed without change to the overall end application. It features
easy to use functions and a complete user manual which has many source snippet
examples.

[Bug 109968] K3b shows an inexact information if MP3 plugin not installed

2007-04-25 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: k3b

When K3b is executed and the MP3 plug-in is not installed, it shows this
error text in the System Configuration Problems window:

Mp3 Audio Decoder plugin not found.

K3b could not load or find the Mp3 decoder plugin. This means that you will not
be able to create Audio CDs from Mp3 files. Many Linux distributions do not
include Mp3 support for legal reasons.
Solution: To enable Mp3 support, please install the MAD Mp3 decoding library as
well as the K3b MAD Mp3 decoder plugin (the latter may already be installed but
not functional due to the missing libmad). Some distributions allow
installation of Mp3 support via an online update tool (i. e. SuSE's YOU).

This problem is fixed by installing two packages which are in the default
sources.list in Feisty, libk3b2-mp3 and libmad0. I can think of several
improvements to the situation:
1. Install libk3b2-mp3 and libmad0 by default. The error window would not ever
be shown.
or
2. Change the text in the error window to something which is more
Ubuntu/KUbuntu-specific. For instance:

Mp3 Audio Decoder plugin not found.

K3b could not load or find the Mp3 decoder plugin. This means that you will not
be able to create Audio CDs from Mp3 files. Many Linux distributions do not
include Mp3 support for legal reasons.
Solution: To enable Mp3 support, please install the MAD Mp3 decoding library as
well as the K3b MAD Mp3 decoder plugin. To install these files, please run the
Adept Package Manager and install the libk3b2-mp3 and libmad0 packages.

[Bug 50480] Re: Reported version is incorrect

2007-04-25 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Still present in Feisty. Package ruby is Ruby 1.8.2 and package
ruby1.8 is Ruby 1.8.5.

Please, fix this. Having both packages is misleading. I understand there might
be some problems with Ruby 1.8.2 in certain applications but then the most
logical step would be to rename those packages:
Ruby 1.8.5 (always latest version) - package name ruby
Ruby 1.8.2 - package name ruby1.8.2

[Bug 50480] Reported version is incorrect

2006-06-20 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ruby

'apt-cache show ruby' reports version 1.8.2, but it actually is 1.8.4
because it depends on package ruby1.8. The same thing happens with
packages irb, ri, rdoc and ruby-dev.

It's a somewhat important bug because there are some serious differences
between Ruby 1.8.2 and Ruby 1.8.4.
