[Bug 1176810] Re: Kernel panic with USB 3.0 mass storage device
Hi Christopher, After applying the BIOS update, I've managed to do about 20 GB worth of transfers (some photos) via the USB 3.0 port without any issue. [Bug 1176810] Re: Kernel panic with USB 3.0 mass storage device
The mainline kernel does not fix this bug. I installed linux- image-3.9.0-030900-generic_3.9.0-030900.201304291257_amd64.deb and the associated linux-headers- packages from the mainline builds repository. I… - boot - power on the enclosure, connected to the USB 2.0 port - mount a partition from one disk in the enclosure - transfer some data to it from another disk using dd, i.e.: $ sudo dd if=/dev/sdb of=/media/khaeru/eebb644a-a12f-469c-a5d5-b50dfccf074c/tmp.img bs=1G count=1 iflag=direct oflag=direct 1+0 records in 1+0 records out 1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 63.4855 s, 16.9 MB/s - unmount the partition, power off the enclosure - connect the enclosure to the USB 3.0 port, power on the enclosure - mount the same partition and attempt to run the same dd command The attached dmesg is from just before dd is run. [Bug 1177773] [NEW] Nautilus 3.6 Copy To… error for remote targets
Public bug reported: In Nautilus 3.6, the extra pane has been removed. This has been filed as a bug separately (bug #1173648), but it appears the upstream developers are adamant about not reintroducing it, the pleas of users notwithstanding. So, I am trying to learn the new, intended workflow. That other bug links to an upstream discussion (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683048) where one comment reads: Folders open in other windows are added to the sidebar of the Move to/Copy to dialogs for quick access. From this I understand that the new, intended workflow is to open multiple windows and use the context menu Move To/Copy To dialogs. However, this does not work for remote (network) locations. To reproduce: - Open a Nautilus window - Connect to a server - Open a second Nautilus window - Select a local file - In the context menu, choose Copy To… - Observe that the remote directory which is open in the first Nautilus window is available in the dialog sidebar (attached screenshot) - Click on the remote directory in the dialog sidebar Expected: - The file can be copied to the remote location which is open in the other Nautilus window Observed: - An error dialog reading The folder contents cannot be displayed / Cannot change to folder because it is not local (second screenshot) - The file cannot be copied in this manner $ lsb_release -rd apt-cache policy nautilus Description:Ubuntu 13.04 Release:13.04 nautilus: Installed: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 Candidate: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 Version table: *** 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 0 500 http://mirror.bjtu.edu.cn/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2013-05-08 20:26:44.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113/+attachment/3669753/+files/Screenshot%20from%202013-05-08%2020%3A26%3A44.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113 Title: Nautilus 3.6 Copy To… error for remote targets To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/113/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 911064] Re: Apple Bluetooth Keyboard Fn key not working
Although Alpha 1 is not released yet, and I won't upgrade that early anyway, this bug appears to be fixed in raring ringtail. The device ID 0255 appears in the kernel sources, file 'hid-ids.h' from: http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/linux-image-extra-3.7.0-3-generic …and in a grep of the 'hid-apple.ko' module binary from: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/raring/+package/linux-image- extra-3.7.0-3-generic However, it's still erroneously missing from the 12.10 kernels. Extra information: the PCI ID 0x197b:0x0325 seems to correspond to the device's JMicron JMB321 chip (http://www.jmicron.com/Product_JMB321.htm). [Bug 938235] Re: Application needs hi-res or SVG icon
Liviu, Launchpad bugs can only be filed for software projects. For that to work, LyX would need to be registered in Launchpad as a project (currently it is only a package within the Ubuntu project). However, since LyX already has its own Trac instance, this might be redundant, and the LyX Trac might be the best place to register bugs related to the packages in the ~lyx-devel PPA (as opposed to bugs in the official Ubuntu LyX packages). About the actual issue, my suggestion is to consult the packaging code used by Ubuntu itself. This can be done by: 1. Navigate https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lyx 2. Click Code near the top 3. Choose a release, e.g. lp:ubuntu/precise/lyx 4. Click Browse the code 5. View the contents of the debian directory I suspect that in the file lyx.desktop, the line: Icon=lyx …must be changed to: Icon=lyx.svg …or perhaps a more complete path, e.g. /usr/share/lyx/images/lyx.svg. If I make this latter change manually on my system, Ubuntu uses the SVG icon. However, I'm not familiar enough with Debian/Ubuntu packaging to know how to accomplish this automatically. At step #3 above, you can see the names of some Ubuntu devs who have modified the packaging code for LyX in the past. Perhaps if you contact them they can quickly explain how. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/938235 Title: Application needs hi-res or SVG icon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lyx/+bug/938235/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I get what might be a variant of this bug. A white window or box appears covering the page display area but none of the UI in chromium. [Bug 938448] Re: On multi-monitor, mouse gets stuck in the middle, especially going right to left
I've upgraded to Precise on a second machine, and the problem seems less acute. The difference is that this computer has a mouse with high sensitivity. If I approach the monitor border very quickly, the cursor passes through without getting stuck. Using the trackball I have on my other system, it's very difficult to move the cursor that quickly, so it almost always gets stuck. So it seems there *is* a threshold velocity for this behaviour, but it has been set too high. Either it should be lowered, or made configurable. Simply increasing the trackball sensitivity to avoid this new feature is not a solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/938448 Title: On multi-monitor, mouse gets stuck in the middle, especially going right to left To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/938448/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 911064] Re: Apple Bluetooth Keyboard Fn key not working
@Brian: I'm not a kernel developer, so I'm not sure either. Here's what I did to find it: Go to http://kernel.org. On the line by stable: 3.0.18, click Gitweb. Click tree at the top of the page, then browse to drivers/hid/hid-ids.h; the device ID is visible. For comparison: $ cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 3.0.0-15.26-generic 3.0.13 So I guess it was introduced sometime between kernel version 3.0.14 and 3.0.18 inclusive. But I have no idea how/on what schedule the Ubuntu kernel for 11.10 is updated from the one on kernel.org. Since this is a simple fix, only a few lines, I hope one of the Ubuntu devs could cherry-pick it, if they happen to look at this bug. Worst case: no one will, and the fix will come in the 3.2 kernel when Ubuntu 12.04 is released. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/911064 Title: Apple Bluetooth Keyboard Fn key not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/911064/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 911064] Re: Apple Bluetooth Keyboard Fn key not working
Also, I did some browsing in the kernel source on gitweb, and it appears the relevant definition has moved from net/bluetooth/hidp/core.c (kernel 2.6.14, as reported in bug #227501) to drivers/hid/hid-ids.h and drivers/hid/hid-apple.c in the linux source. [Bug 913601] [NEW] 'fn' key not functional on Apple wireless keyboard
Public bug reported: I have a brand-new wireless Apple wireless keyboard, connected using Bluetooth. Some of the f-keys on this keyboard apparently have additional functions: F1: decrease brightness F2: increase brightness F3: ? F4: ? F7: previous track F8: play/pause F9: next track F10: mute F11: decrease volume F12: increase volume In addition, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AppleKeyboard indicates that Insert, Delete, PageUp, PageDown, Home and End should be available through using 'fn' with other keys. None of these appear to work. Pressing 'fn' with any other key is identical to pressing that key on its own. Using 'xev' confirms this. I also notice that the kernel module hid_apple is not loaded when my keyboard is connected. There seem to be other bug reports (e.g. bug #227501, bug #499013) which report new versions of Apple peripherals having new device IDs, which prevent Ubuntu from configuring them properly when they are connected. In some cases the fix seems to be a custom kernel (!) or kernel patch. I don't know if this is the issue here. Please let me know what additional information or testing I can provide to help fix this bug.
