[Bug 444010] [NEW] OpenOffice.org won't start

2009-10-05 Thread Paul RIVIER
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Upgrade process failed during openoffice post-install for unspecified
reason. Now openoffice refuses to start, saying :

terminate called after throwing an instance of
'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException'

dpkg-reconfigure openoffice.org did not change anything

By the way I was told when upgrade failed to run dpkg-reconfigure -a
which seems to be somewhat obsolete, though the man page says it should
work.

# dpkg-reconfigure -a
This is not dpkg install-info anymore, but GNU install-info
See the man page for ginstall-info for command line arguments
install-info: No dir file specified; try --help for more information.

[Bug 235298] [NEW] Redcloth brakes ruby load_path

2008-05-27 Thread Paul RIVIER
Public bug reported:

In Hardy, RedCloth installs redcloth.rb in /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/
First line of redcloth.rb is : $:.unshift(File.dirname(__FILE__))
This means /usr/lib/ruby/1.8 is placed ON TOP of the ruby load_path.
In other words, when redcloth has been loaded, you can NEVER EVER load a file
named "foo" if /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/foo already exists.

This prevents you from :
 * using a more recent library in your application directory
 * upgrading through gems or through plugins
 * many other common things.

Please take a closer look at the way redcloth is distributed. As a quick-fix,
you can maybe first check that this path is not already in load-path before
pushing it on top. Or, you can bet redcloth.rb would not have been found at all
if it was not already in the path, and just drop this addition.
In present form, it makes RedCloth package totally useless.

Thanks for your effort,

Regards

[Bug 125741] please sync package emacs from debian unstable

2007-07-13 Thread Paul RIVIER
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: emacs

Emacs 22 is in debian unstable, chack it there :
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/editors/emacs
It is the stable release that correspond to the final version of
"emacs-snapshot" package, currently in 7.10 repo. Therefore, emacs-snapshot
should be removed from 7.10 and "emacs" package should point to emacs 22.
Thanks

[Bug 6367] EDGY Knot1 livecd FAILS AS WELL on such a system

2006-07-22 Thread Paul RIVIER
A friend of mine has such a config that totally prevented him from booting
Dapper from the HDD. He is therefore still in Breezy.
I just asked him to test the Edgy Knot1 livecd and report me if the
partitioning part of the installation process was possible, or at least if he
can find his HDD in /dev.

ANSWER : NO !!! Seems as broken as Dapper on that point !
-> Gparted would hang forever without finding any HDD
-> no /dev/sd* and no /dev/hd* at all

Is there any other test to do ?
