[Bug 1211296] [NEW] [Alt] + [Shift] hotkey to change layouts functions only as [Shift] + [Alt] if some misc options are enabled

2013-08-12 Thread Paul Somebody
Public bug reported:

Particularly, if you have "Both Shift keys together toggle a CapsLock"
option enabled under "Miscellaneous compatibility options" in the
Keyboard Layout options dialogue, [Alt] + [Shift] combination will only
work if you press [Shift] + [Alt], not the other way around, which is
weird and unexpected behaviour.

[Bug 124440] Re: Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed

2013-03-04 Thread Paul Somebody
A huge "hooray" goes to the One Hundred Paper Cuts project. It would be
terrific to have this fixed at last, irrelevant to whether this is an
"enchancement", a "bug", a "whishlist item" or anything else entirely.

I hope this dramatic and epic 6 year story evades the eyes of the people
to whom GNU/Linux is advocated on the grounds that in this OS mistakes
and shortcomings are always rectified quickly, because usually it is not
like this. :)

How come this bug is "invalid"? It is perfectly valid, and it is a

horizontal scrolling to do useful things, like launching apps or
switching workspaces; after some update it have broken, and now Linux
cannot distinguish between mouse axes.

Hmm. I am not quite sure you understood my point, let me explain.

These packages are present, indeed and they provide the same functionality,
but I think we still need «gm-esp», or at least a metapackage named exactly
that, so the pre-compiled binaries containing proprietary drivers from
Canon would still install.

[Bug 897309] [NEW] Package «gs-esp» is still needed in Oneric and higher

2011-11-28 Thread Paul Somebody
Public bug reported:

Some prineter drivers, namely those for Canon MFs still list it as

dependencies of packages.

Right now, users have to find it and manually download it, which is not
nice.

Please, return it to the repositories.

[Bug 662978] Re: Feature Request: Make "Place Windows" plugin functionality available through the window title context menu

2011-05-26 Thread Paul Somebody
Thank you for the response, but it have really been quite some time and
I neither have Ubuntu on my current machine, nor plan to install it in
the near future.

I am not sure if I would be able to provide any future assistance with
this bug.

Sorry about that.

Yes, of course I did.

But I am afraid I won't be able to provide a lot more details; since a
lot of time passed and I no longer have that setup of Ubuntu and Empathy
available at hand.

2010-10-18 Thread Paul Somebody

Right now, to make use of this incredibly useful plugin you have to go
through messy and buggy settings dialogue which is anything, but great.

[Bug 662830] [NEW] Empathy do not launch properly

2010-10-18 Thread Paul Somebody
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I have Empathy IM added to the Startup Application with the command
"empathy -h", but application do not launch properly at all.

There is a "empathy" process, but all accounts are disconnected, in the
personal menu status is set to "offline" and Empathy won't connect at
all, unless process killed and restarted.

Problem was noticed after an upgrade to 10.10.

2010-10-17 Thread Paul Somebody
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 620331 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620331

In my opinion this was mistakingly marked as duplicate, since I am not
complaining about extra icon next to indicator, I am requesting a gnome-
settings-daemon key and the GUI option to turn indicator off, with or
without the icon.

[Bug 661831] [NEW] Feature Request: Please add a key to turn off new keyboard indicator in Ubuntu

2010-10-16 Thread Paul Somebody
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

In 9.10 there have been a way to painlessly turn off keyboard indicator
by something like that:

gconftool-2 -s
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/general/disable_indicator -t bool
true

Now, there is a way, but it turns off correct layout switching
altogether with an applet:

gconftool-2 --type boolean --set
/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/keyboard/active false

This is good when Ubuntu add something new and shiny to Gnome, but why
was it necessary to replace the normal Gnome applet with the new and
incomplete one?

As far as I am acknowledged, only way to do it now is to install old
version of gnome-settings-daemon and lock it's version, am I correct?

Not necessary no add, it would be nice to see a GUI option to turn that
thing off, since many use automatic keyboard layout switchers like
Gxneur, which have a nice layout indicator of their own.

[Bug 659139] [NEW] Software Center uses strange names for third party repositories

2010-10-12 Thread Paul Somebody
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

In the list of third party repositories names read: «JDownloader PPA»,
«PPA for Banshee Team», «elementarydesktop», «nautilus-elementary» and
so forth.

Where did it get those names from? I already have all that repositories
named correctly and nicely in the software sources: «JDownloader»,
«Banshee», «Elementary Desktop», «Elementary Nautilus», etc.

Screenshot is attached.

I know it's rather minor and aesthetic, but don't Ubuntu aim to be nice?

Ubuntu version is 10.10.
