Jymbob, where did you get that latest version from github? Is it a deb
package or do we need to do something special to compile it?

When you said the latest version, did you mean the latest mature
version (2013-10-19) or the latest development version (2014-06-22)? I
found it at: https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloudprint

Also seen on the 3.13.0-30 kernel. Flagged bugs #1327012, #1334539 and

 ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid.; \

Likewise, resolved with the following:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-331

[Bug 519025] Re: Character Encoding in Evolution Exchange MAPI

2010-08-10 Thread Paul Webster
I have been using davmail gateway and thunderbird in my Exchange 2007
setup. Works great. Only very seldom do I get a message that adds a
few extra characters but it doesn't replace anything important, just
spaces. This seems to be related to the setup of the mail client on the
other end, as it only happens when I forward something from someone who
has a particular character set in their message.

[Bug 589655] Re: .ICEauthority and gconf-sanity-check-2 problems on login DOMAIN account

2010-07-25 Thread Paul Webster
What I finally did to work around this (if I can remember correctly):
I completely deleted my primary domain user's folder that I was concerned with.
 /home/Domain-Name/username
I re-logged in as that user, allowing the machine to automatically create that
users folder again.
I copied/pasted the folders and contents that I needed into that folder and
then I was off to the races.

I, then, created a new admin level local user on the machine and just
stopped using the original local account. This account still has the
problems but I moved all my content over to the new accounts. They work
great.

[Bug 555525] Re: domainjoin-cli: Failed to join domain

2010-06-04 Thread Paul Webster
After wrestling with this for a while I did the following, per Gerald's
suggestion here or in another thread:
sudo apt-get remove likewise-open
sudo dpkg --purge likewise-open
rebooted
sudo apt-get install likewise-open

I don't know whether it matters or not but I did use the domainjoin-cli
instead of the gui this time. It worked. I got joined. I don't think
it was the gui. I think there was an underlying setting that didn't get
updated in likewise-open until I completely removed it and started over.

I can authenticate now on my domain BUT I cannot get in to GDM. It gives me an
errror with two things, maybe related to ownership.
Could not update ICEauthority file
/home/likewise-open/MYDOMAIN/username/.ICEauthority
also
Problem configuring server (/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited
with status 256)

Based on googling I think it is an ownership issue for these files. I
have tried changing ownership. None of the posts I have seen are
dealing with domain users, so that extra level of the domain in the
username makes it a bit more complicated.

Any brilliant ideas?

[Bug 589655] Re: .ICEauthority and gconf-sanity-check-2 problems on login DOMAIN account

2010-06-04 Thread Paul Webster
Some things I've tried, per various posts in the forums:

sudo chown UID#:GID# /home/likewise-open/MYDOMAIN/username/.ICEauthority
sudo chmod 0600 ~/.ICEauthority
sudo chmod 755 /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.*

Still can't login graphically to that account. I can login with my
local admin user account, so I should be able to make changes from
there.

What would happen if I just got rid of my .ICEauthority file? I imagine
big time corruption.

[Bug 555525] Re: domainjoin-cli: Failed to join domain

2010-06-03 Thread Paul Webster
I changed my /etc/hosts to the following but it still won't leave the
domain (that it really never finished joining)

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
127.0.1.1 pweb-lap
10.1.67.51 SERVER-DC1.mydomain.domain SERVER-DC1
# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts

There is a second DC server but it isn't referenced when I run
lw-get-dc-name mydomain.domain

I get:
Printing LWNET_DC_INFO fields:
===
dwDomainControllerAddressType = 23
dwFlags = 13309
dwVersion = 5
wLMToken = 65535
wNTToken = 65535
pszDomainControllerName = SERVER-DC1.mydomain.domain
pszDomainControllerAddress = 10.1.67.51
pucDomainGUID(hex) = D2 32 2B 75 EA 46 E0 41 A2 9B 0D 39 E3 06 BA 92
pszNetBIOSDomainName = MYDOMAIN
pszFullyQualifiedDomainName = mydomain.domain
pszDnsForestName = mydomain.domain
pszDCSiteName = Default-First-Site-Name
pszClientSiteName = Default-First-Site-Name
pszNetBIOSHostName = SERVER-DC1
pszUserName = EMPTY

Do you see anything fishy here? It looks good to me.

The error I get when trying to leave or join is:
Lsass Error
1225 (0x4C9) ERROR_CONNECTION_REFUSED - Unkown error

Details:
Error code: CENTERROR_DOMAINJOIN_LSASS_ERROR (0x00080047)
Backtrace:
main.c:368
djmodule.c:323
djauthinfo.c:925
djauthinfo.c:1238

One more clue. My likewise-open-gui currently shows that I am joined even
though I got this error. It gives me there error again if I try to unjoin. If
I try to login with my domain credentials it gives me the following:
MYDOMAIN\username - correct password (No User Account)
MYDOMAIN\username - wrong password (Authentication Error)

This is really peculiar. I can tell it is talking to someone out there
and getting something back.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I am experiencing this same problem in 10.04. I made the mistake of

messed a few things up. I then had to completely uninstall LWO from

but then they stop working (authentication error). I'm running update

2010-05-04 Thread Paul Webster
I figured out a way to work around my situation and it almost works now.
I did the following:
-While I was logged in as local admin on the machine and inside the domain, I
used synaptic to remove Winbind
-I rebooted
-Then I used synaptic to completely remove likewise open
-Rebooted the machine
-Reinstalled likewise open and likewise open gui
-Re-Joined the domain
-Rebooted machine and checked my domain login credentials (they worked)

*Now, the only thing that appears to not be working is that I can't
login with those same credentials when I am outside the network. I'll
check the likewise admin manual to see if there is a new setting I need
to change. I need to be able to login with network username and
password all the time so that I don't have to user accounts and two home

[Bug 531812] Re: package likewise-open 5.4.0.39949-3 failed to install/upgrade:

2010-05-02 Thread Paul Webster
Thanks Jerry-
What info would be helpful?
I know that in my pre-upgrade state, I had changed the sudoers file so that my
DOMAIN\username account was included as an admin in the sudoers file.

During the upgrade, it asked for the names of Kerberos servers on my
domain. I am at home and not connected to my domain, so I left these
blank. Even if I were at work and on the domain I have no idea what the
kerberos servers would be. I'm on a completely windows-centric AD
domain.

During the upgrade it also advised me that Winbind and Likewise were not
compatible with each other and had to be disabled. Should I uninstall
one or both of them?

Do I need to go in and change a config file of some sort?

Maybe it will just work if I return to my domain and login with my
domain account. I will return tomorrow morning. I'd like to get it
fixed before then but if I can't, I'll live. I think I can still get to
my files in the /home folder for my domain user by using sudo and
nautilus.

Jerry-
A little more info. When I open the Likewise-Open GUI, it gives me the
attached error message. I'll bet it is because I am not in the domain to
contact the DNS server. I am at home, where I routinely work on this laptop
(it goes to work and back every day). I only use the domain account, as it
keeps file storage/organization simpler.

My intention in opening the Likewise Gui was just to see what domain it
thought I was a member of.

See attached.

[Bug 519025] Re: Character Encoding in Evolution Exchange MAPI

2010-02-10 Thread Paul Webster
Our server used to have OWA available and it worked like a charm (with a
few hiccups). We recently lost our OWA access and I re-installed and
MAPI seemed to be my only choice to connect to the server. It connects
but the inconsistencies are miserable. I would be happy to run reports
if they would be helpful to anyone.

[Bug 519025] [NEW] Character Encoding in Evolution Exchange MAPI

2010-02-08 Thread Paul Webster
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Some messages have missing text in bodies. Some messages get sent or
received as complete gibberish or as foreign letters. See an attached
email that I sent. It looked normal before I hit send but this is what
it looks like to my Outlook using colleagues.

I am on Jaunty 9.10 AMD64 and use Evolution (2.28.1) connected to a 2003
exchange server via MAPI.

I also seem to be missing some of the header information, such as cc:
info and it is especially prevalent for html messages.

When incoming messages have gibberish or ?'s then I can often change the
character encoding to Western European and it usually clarifies it
(sometimes not all of it).

I have attached a screenshot of a message I sent to a colleague on the
same server (He uses Outlook 2003).

[Bug 516399] [NEW] Missing Text in Evolution Emails - Exchange MAPI

2010-02-02 Thread Paul Webster
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I am connected to an exchange server by MAPI because the OWA is not
available at present. It is a new exchange server install so I think it
is exchange 2010 but it could be 2007.

Several emails I get have missing text in the body. I can sometimes
tell that there had been text. Others I get are completely blank in the
body. If I do view source then I can usually make out what was really
there amongst the code.

I also am not able to schedule meetings with others who are using MS
Outlook 2003. My invites come across as gibberish code. When they send
me an invite from Outlook it crashes Evolution when I try to open it.

Is there something I can do in Ubuntu or is there something that can be
done on the server end without asking my server tech to do to much?

I am on Ubuntu 9.10 AMD64.
The machine, which I think is irrelevant in this case, is a Compaq 610 notebook
with Core2Duo processors.

Re: [Bug 458319] Re: Individual Emails Disappear from Inbox on Exchange Server

2009-11-02 Thread Paul Webster
Good deal. Hope it goes well and the bug doesn't crop up. It is such
an intermittent problem that I almost don't think it is there until I
prove it to myself. I probably won't upgrade to Karmic for a month or
two, as this is my only machine and I can't afford to be without it for
even a day.

 In terms of your other question your account information will still be
 there, you just re-open evolution. and it basically just resync's all
 your email, Obviously takes a while to complete,

 Also just mentioning the rm -r (the -r) is a recursive delete so the
 commands are deleting the exchange and the mail/exchange folders and
 everything in them. Hence why I change directory to .evolution first,
 Trust me the worst command on linux/unix is rm -rf * never use it :)

Did the problem seem to go away with an upgrade? (Karmic? Another Linux

After rm -r for each of these files do I need to reset my exchange info
in preferences or do I just re-open evolution?

I appreciate your help.

[Bug 55428] Re: Helper applications cannot be changed, even when asked to do so by Firefox.

2009-10-25 Thread Paul Webster
I think I have this same problem in Jaunty 64. I have FFox 3.5.3 x86_64.
I was having a problem with Java pages loading, even though I have java

helper program but I always deal with that manually by downloading and
then by opening from gnome. I realized that it was really a helper
application thing. I thought it was a problem with Java. I went to
editpreferences and then to applications. Every file type reads

[Bug 396626] [NEW] Radio stations I add won't play

2009-07-07 Thread Paul Webster
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox says to enter the url of a radio station to add it. It does
add the url to the list of stations (but not the name of the station in
plain English). It won't play the station, saying that this or that is
not supported, sometimes asking for an html/text decoder.

I have installed all the codecs normally needed for playback and other
media players work. Rhythmbox itself works for the list of (heavily
Norwegian) radio stations that it supplies by default.
