OK -- I installed the i386 image and upgraded from the latest packages from the main servers. xinput still works like it did on the live CD. [Bug 99790] Re: Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100 and 150
Fabio, Thanks for the attention, it's really appreciated. Unfortunately, the Feisty installer isn't working either. So it's hard to get debugging information. When I dist-upgraded from Dapper, the keyboard was still not working. HOWEVER, after a second reboot it started to work. I don't know what happened, but the things I remember doing (through SSH) were: 1. dpkg-reconfigure console-setup (switched from Sun Type 5 to PC 104 keys) 2. depmod and update-initramfs Unfortunately because of all this, I don't think my dmesg will be very helpful. I tried to read old copies to find one in which I still had the problem, but everything seems to be fine. I'll attach one anyway. If there's a way of getting information from the installer without keyboard, let me know and I'll boot from it. ** Attachment added: "dmesg" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7234306/dmesg -- Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100 and 150 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 99790] Re: Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100 and 150
Of course, I couldn't resist the temptation and went ahead with a dist- upgrade. Things went relatively smoothly. I will report the issues on ubuntuforums to avoid going off-topic here. Related to our problem, the new kernel boots but the keyboard doesn't work again. Fortunately, I have sshd running, so I can still use the system from another computer. This might be good for debugging, because now I can gather information that we couldn't with the installation disc. Any ideas are appreciated. -- Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100 and 150 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 99790] Re: Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100
Voyager, Here's what I did to be able to read the error messages: I recorded it with my camera phone. You're right, it goes too fast. However, I suspect there's more to this problem than that. Following your description, I got to install Ubuntu 6.06.1 on my Sun Blade 150. And I get the same error messages (fatal errors with the usb modules). Despite that, the installer runs just fine. So I don't know what exactly causes the keyboard problem on Feisty. I wonder if a dist-upgrade would work... By the way, I had a thread on ubuntuforums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=402929 It looks like we're in the same boat. Let's wait for a maintainer/developer's opinion. ** Summary changed: - Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100 + Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100 and 150 -- Unable to utilize keyboard on Blade 100 and 150 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 16247] Re: ndiswrapper hangs on boot if running on battery
I should comment that in my case this problem got fixed by upgrading to ndiswrapper 1.41. My Macbook seems to be behaving well now. [Bug 99790] Sun Blade 150 - Fatal: Module usbkbd not found
Voyager, Are you getting these error messages like me? FATAL: Module usbkbd not found. FATAL: Module usbhid not found. FATAL: Module usbserial not found. I also found this person with the same complaint: http://drwetter.org/coolthreads/t2000.Ubuntu_vs_Solaris10_1.html In my case, I'm trying Feisty Fawn beta on a Sun Blade 150. I've upgraded OBP to the latest version. As reported by Voyager, the installer loads but because of those usb errors, the keyboard doesn't work at all. Please let me know what additional information I can provide. [Bug 16247] Re: Dell Inspiron 600m - ndiswrapper hangs on boot if running on battery
This got to be the strangest bug I've ever seen. It got me installing and reinstalling ndiswrapper over and over again, till I decided to search launchpad. And indeed, I just had to plug the AC power cord. This is a Macbook C2D, running Feisty and ndiswrapper 1.38. Unfortunately, I don't have the SysReq key here. Let me know if there's an alternative way of doing that. I hope we fix this. [Bug 90552] Proposal to Change Download Descriptions
Public bug reported: Wiki Entry: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UsabilityTesting/DownloadDescriptions Ubuntu Forums: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=378395 We propose to change the descriptions of CD images on the Ubuntu downloads page. The current download descriptions are too technical for new users. They also contain wording that might be misleading. This can confuse users when trying to decide which image to download. In the specific case of AMD64, it has reportedly caused some users to think the image was not appropriate for their Intel 64-bit capable processors. We want to improve the information on the download page to contribute to an easier decision process. We hope this will decrease the chances of waste of time, patience, and Internet bandwidth for individuals who are considering migrating to Ubuntu. Please check the wiki entry to see the actual proposals. Comments are most welcome. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Proposal to Change Download Descriptions https://launchpad.net/bugs/90552 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
