[Bug 356745] [NEW] nm-applet disables VPN options if there is no network connection

2009-04-06 Thread Pavel Pergamenshchik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome

nm-applet assumes that VPN connections cannot be established if there is
no active physical (wired or wireless) network connection. The menu
entries for VPNs are greyed out. This is unreasonably restrictive. For
example, one might have a 3G phone tethered through USB and forwarding a
port to the VPN server.

I'm running wireless-compat from

periodically. Presumably, being a daily snapshot, wireless-compat
already includes these fixes.

Someone in #xorg told me about a workaround a while ago. In 6800GT_2's

stupid, but it works.

[Bug 84128] avahi-daemon shouldn't be run in if-post-down

2007-02-08 Thread Pavel Pergamenshchik
Public bug reported:

/etc/network/if-post-down.d/avahi-daemon calls uses host -t soa local.
Of course, since the network is down, host takes a while to time out, delaying
my ifdown command. Shouldn't this be in if-down.d instead?

[Bug 83652] Re: Can't associate with AP (madwifi, WEP, hidden SSID)

2007-02-06 Thread Pavel Pergamenshchik
FWIW, the hidden SSID network here started working after I upgraded to the
latest ipw3945 driver (1.2.0) on my feisty machine.
Grab it at http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/#downloads . It's rather easy to
compile. Don't need new microcode or regulatory daemon for 1.2.0 -- the ones in
feisty will do.

[Bug 61194] sylpheed has ugly fonts after edgy upgrade

2006-09-18 Thread Pavel Pergamenshchik
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from dapper to edgy (sylpheed-claws is now version 1.0.5-4build1)
and the fonts look really bad. Both UI and message text are like that. This
happens even with a fresh user config. Firefox or gaim are not affected.
I attached a partial screenshot to demonstrate the problem.

[Bug 60612] update-flashplugin should not be using /bin/sh

2006-09-15 Thread Pavel Pergamenshchik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

Edgy seems to have /bin/sh linked by default to dash. dash cannot handle
return -1 used in update-flashplugin. I'm guessing return -1 is not
POSIXful. Perhaps bash would be a better choice.
