[Bug 1939347] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 freeze since kernel 5.11

2022-04-28 Thread Paweł Dembicki
FINALY!

I found solution for my e7490:

1. Upgrade bios to 1.24.1
2. add "i915.enable_guc=3" to CMD line
3. Install/ Upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04
4. Use stock kernel 5.15 kernel from Ubuntu 22.04

Now 5.15 works well.

[Bug 1955589] [NEW] wireguard connectrion doesn't create route to server ip

2021-12-22 Thread Paweł Dembicki
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 21.10
Release:21.10

Wireguard from network-manager deosn't create route to server ip. It's a
problem when "allowed ips" '0.0.0.0/0' are used.

Steps to reproduce:
Create wireguard connection with 0.0.0.0/0

Steps to workaround:
add route 'ip ro add via '

Example:

[Bug 1945324] [NEW] systemtap 4.4 not compatible with linux kernel 5.11

2021-09-28 Thread Paweł Bylica
Public bug reported:

systemtap builds some module depending on linux kernel. The version 4.4
is not compatible with kernel 5.11.

This has been fixed upstream in
https://sourceware.org/git/?p=systemtap.git;a=commit;h=ea81249b90b92a589d304c051efbc5bbad7ce073
and by comparing dates should be part of the 4.5 release.

Test command:
sudo stap -e 'probe begin { printf("Hello, World!\n"); exit() }'

[Bug 1943853] Re: Ubuntu update disconnected all snaps

2021-09-22 Thread Paweł Stołowski
To summarize, there are two issues:
1. snaps were not mounted on restart for some reason
2. this lead to loosing all auto-connected interfaces on snapd start (because
snap.yaml files couldn't be read from disk)

The cause of problem #1 is unknown and we had a couple of reports about
this in the past. Snaps are automatically mounted by systemd mount units
on boot, so why this didn't work is unclear.

For problem #2 I've proposed a fix here:
https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/10814 and with it connections
should be preserved on such failures.

[Bug 1943853] Re: Recent update DELETED SNAP PROGRAMS

2021-09-18 Thread Paweł Stołowski
Ah, what I suggested in comment #18 would only re-create "system"
connections (such as desktop, audio-playback etc) provided by snapd, but
the other problem is with gnome-3-28-1804 and gtk-common-themes content
provider slots. For those, removing and installing them back should re-
create their auto-connections, so try this:

$ snap remove gnome-3-28-1804
$ snap remove gtk-common-themes
$ snap install gnome-3-28-1804
$ snap install gtk-common-themes

As for the actual root cause, I fear it will be very hard to understand
what went wrong without "snap changes", which unfortunately got pruned
already.

Also, could you try:
$ snap refresh --beta snapd

(afterwards you can do snap refresh --stable snapd)

and see if it helped restore the connections?

When I build ISC's dhcpd from their git repository manually, not using

though.

@Christopher as far as I understand the fix happened in ubiquity

[Bug 1922293] Re: Snaps appear broken on 21.04 Beta with ZFS

2021-04-15 Thread Paweł Stołowski
@Luna what was the fix, can you link to the respective change? I'm still
seeing the problem with up-to-date 21.04 (and there were no updates
reported for zfs-linux; was it actually released)?

The tentative fix for snapd hasn't been commited yet in snapd; if the
problem was fixed elsewhere then we won't need snapd fix; therefore I'm
marking this back to "in progress" in snapd and it should be set
"invalid" if not needed in snapd.

[Bug 1923116] Re: Broken WebGL in Firefox 87.0 on Kubuntu 21.04 Beta (Xorg)

2021-04-08 Thread Paweł Drewniak
I think I've found it.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/87.0+build3-0ubuntu2
introduced "MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1" in the startup script (/usr/bin/firefox).
This was to fix #1916469, but unfortunately this breaks WebGL on Xorg.
Removing "export MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1" fixes the problem.

As an aside, Firefox 88 should behave better in that regard
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1695453 improved handling
of setting MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAN)

[Bug 1923116] [NEW] Broken WebGL in Firefox 87.0 on Kubuntu 21.04 Beta (Xorg)

2021-04-08 Thread Paweł Drewniak
Public bug reported:

Firefox 87.0 on Kubuntu 21.04 Beta running on Xorg seems to have broken WebGL.
Tested using https://get.webgl.org on fresh a Firefox profile.
I found the following in the console output:

`[GFX1-]: glxtest: Could not connect to wayland socket`

and this seems to be the cause of the problem - due to failing glxtest,
all additional HW acceleration is disabled as seen by
`FEATURE_FAILURE_GLXTEST_FAILED` in all `gfx.blacklist` entries in
about:config.

The binary release downloaded from Mozilla (https://download-
installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/releases/87.0/linux-x86_64/en-
US/firefox-87.0.tar.bz2) does *not* show the same behaviour - WebGL is
working just fine.

[Bug 1922293] Re: Snaps appear broken on 21.04 Beta

2021-04-06 Thread Paweł Stołowski
Thanks for reporting, reproduced, the problem is indeed strictly ZFS-
related and appears to be related to a number of zfs-related services
and mount units that need to be ready before mount units for snaps can
be executed during boot, otherwise snap blobs under
/var/lib/snapd/snaps/* cannot be accessed and mounted.

Sample log entries:

kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine systemd[1]: Failed to mount Mount unit
for gnome-3-34-1804, revision 66.
kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine mount[803]: mount:
/snap/gtk-common-themes/1514: special device
/var/lib/snapd/snaps/gtk-common-themes_1514.snap does not exist.
kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine mount[804]: mount: /snap/snap-store/518:
special device /var/lib/snapd/snaps/snap-store_518.snap does not exist.
kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine mount[802]: mount: /snap/gnome-3-34

It seems that adding "After=zfs-mount.service" to snap .mount units
solves it, but the fix needs to be applied in snapd that generates them
as any manual changes to these files will eventually get lost anyway
(also, someone with better understanding of zfs should confirm such fix
is correct).

(as for Wayland issues, let's please not mix it in here, please open a
separate bug report if needed, possibly adding ubuntu-desktop to it).

[Bug 1919043] [NEW] gnome-software-dev misses dependencies required for development

2021-03-13 Thread Paweł
Public bug reported:

Installing package gnome-software-dev doesn't satisfy all of
dependencies needed for development.

After installing it there are still missing libraries needed for
compilation of basic examples provided by gnome
(https://developer.gnome.org/gnome-software/stable/plugins.html - the
first example from here)

```
~/plugin$ gcc -shared -o libgs_plugin_example.so gs-plugin-example.c -fPIC
`pkg-config --libs --cflags gnome-software`
-DI_KNOW_THE_GNOME_SOFTWARE_API_IS_SUBJECT_TO_CHANGE &&  sudo cp
libgs_plugin_example.so `pkg-config gnome-software --variable=plugindir`
Package json-glib-1.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `json-glib-1.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'json-glib-1.0', required by 'gnome-software', not found
gs-plugin-example.c:5:10: fatal error: gnome-software.h: No such file or
compilation terminated.
```

As a reference list of packages required by Fedora version of this
package could is worth checking: https://fedora.pkgs.org/33/fedora-

[Bug 1914868] [NEW] gnome-software-dev doesn't contain all the header files in /usr/include/gnome-software

2021-02-06 Thread Paweł
Public bug reported:

I have tried to compile example plugin mentioned here:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/-/blob/master/contrib/gs-plugin-example.c
and here:
https://developer.gnome.org/gnome-software/stable/plugins.html
I have installed package gnome-software-dev (required for compilation)

But I am not able to compile it:

$ gcc -shared -o libgs_plugin_example.so gs-plugin-example.c -fPIC  `pkg-config
--libs --cflags gnome-software`
-DI_KNOW_THE_GNOME_SOFTWARE_API_IS_SUBJECT_TO_CHANGE

/usr/include/gnome-software/gnome-software.h:16:10: fatal error:
gs-app-collation.h: No such file or directory

compilation terminated.

It appears package gnome-software-dev lacks some headers.

[Bug 1902915] Re: snapd doesn't ensure portals are available even when they are needed

2021-01-12 Thread Paweł Stołowski
I understand this can be confusing, but I'm not sure snapd should be in
the business of warning about missing desktop components or dbus
services of the given interface.

Snapd's desktop interface, as other snapd interfaces, grants access to
dozens of resources/subsystems, some of which may not be relevant for
some snaps, snapd doesn't have a way of knowing that. I think a solution
to this would be a warning/popup implemented by desktop launcher script
of thunderbird snap, it knows what's required for proper functioning of
the snap (and can use snapctl is-connected for preliminary check,
combined with runtime checks of actual services it needs).

2020-11-28 Thread Paweł Kotiuk
In my case this issue seems to be a bit random.
I get this error randomly when I try to rebuild my CMake project.
```
usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/SDL2/SDL_platform.h:179:10: fatal error:
When it appears I have to remove entire build folder for my app and rebuild it.
[Bug 1901568] Re: [20.10 Regression] camera doesn't work in hangouts
2020-11-03 Thread Paweł Stołowski
I don't see anything related to snapd in the attached logs, the camera
plug is connected and there are no denials related to camera access in
the dmesg.txt (the other apparmor denials seem unrelated to camera
interface). I'm closing this in snapd; please re-open if needed.
[Bug 1901578] Re: Cannot remove snap package ubuntu 20.10
2020-11-02 Thread Paweł Stołowski
I investigated and reproduced this with:
$ snap install hello-world
$ mkdir /home/fakeuser/snap
$ chown -R 1090:1088 /home/fakeuser (use uid:gid that are not used on the
system).
$ snap remove hello-world
The problem is only affecting groovy and it appears to be fixed with
https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/9041/ (which landed on Sep 28th
but hasn't been released in stable yet; the fix is included in snapd
from edge).
[Bug 1900341] [NEW] All Bluetooth devices disconnect randomly and cannot reconnect on Intel 7260
2020-10-18 Thread Paweł Pańczyk
Public bug reported:
I've been having issues with bluetooth on my laptop.
The problem is that sometimes all devices (wireless keyboard and mouse)
are suddenly disconnected. When I try to reconnect them manually,
nothing happens, although Bluetooth is shown as turned on. When I turn
it off, I cannot turn it back on - both using the GUI and bluetoothctl.
I tried adding "btusb.enable_autosuspend=0" kernel option, but it did not help.
After it happens, the only way to make it work again is to reboot or remove the
btusb module, load it back and restart bluetooth.service.
It was happening on Ubuntu 18.04.4 with kernel 5.3 and is still present
on 20.04.1 with 5.4 (fresh install, not an upgrade).
My bluetooth module is integrated in the WiFi card Intel 7260.
[Bug 1586644] Re: Applications can't access local files in the user home despite plugs: home being set
2020-06-30 Thread Paweł Stołowski
Thanks for providing a test snap; unfortunately it wouldn't build for me
(I won't provide more details about build error since I don't want to
derail/confuse the discussion), but I've quickly built a similar snap
that doesn't need java and simply touches given path under home, and it
worked fine with home interface connected.
Are you running this on a classic ubuntu system? Home plug is automatically
connected only on classic.
Please attach the following info:
- output of 'snap connections'
- list of apparmor denials from the system log when you hit this error.
It seems to be ipv6-related but I'm not using ipv6 so couldn't verify.
FWTW I played with chromium snap on focal with ipv4 and couldn't spot
any DNS lookup slowness, it was super fast. I've updated the title of
the bug report accordingly.
  After last update from kernel version 4.4.0-176-generic to 4.4.0-177-generic
[Bug 1874266] [NEW] Intensive NFS operations could lock whole system
2020-04-22 Thread Paweł Hikiert
Public bug reported:
After last update from kernel version 4.4.0-176-generic to 4.4.0-177-generic my
machine which does repository mirrors on NFS filesystem hung.
After hang the system is pingable, and all processes run well until they need
to perform IO operation. Then they end in 'D' state.
If dmesg -w -H is run prior to hang you could get following report:
[Bug 1868706] Re: Snapd postinst script hangs
2020-03-26 Thread Paweł Stołowski
Ok, reproduced with focal and broken seeds from an older image, symptoms
are exactly the same (including ps/pstree output). The problem is caused
by blocking on snapd.seeded.service (which waits for seeding to
complete, but it's never going to complete with broken seeds).
Given that this is an edge case (we don't expect images with broken
seeds) and focal images have been fixed already, I'm lowering the
priority. We will discuss what to do to handle this gracefully.
@Mark does 'snap changes' (and then 'snap change ' if you see any
failed changes) reveal antyhing interesing? Some of the older focal
images had broken seeds that would never succeed, potentially causing
other issues.
[Bug 1860324] Re: snapd crashed and can't start: "Re-refresh task has 1 tasks waiting for it"
2020-01-20 Thread Paweł Stołowski
I had a quick look and it seems that UpdateWithDeviceContext can append
"snap-switch-channel" to taskset from doUpdate(), which means a task
gets scheduled after "check-rerefresh" (which panics if it finds any
tasks waiting for it). AFAIR "check-rerefresh" was meant to be the last
in the change.
[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location
2020-01-14 Thread Paweł Stołowski
Please do not spam this bug report with meaningless comments. Comments under
bug reports should be limited to the merit and provide extra info where info is
lacking, "me too" is not really bringing anything to the discussion.
It is understood that this issue is very important for some users. Zyga
invested quite some time into investigating it, commented a couple of times and
gave extensive explanation about why this is not an easy change. This problem
is not a bug but a design decision and since it's not breaking snapd/snaps, it
has been categorized as "Wishlist"; it isn't fixed not because we ignore it,
but because our hands are full with other features, and of higher priority.
We hope for your understanding.
[Bug 1853192] Re: Please add patch fixing RK818 ID detection
2019-11-20 Thread Paweł Jarosz
Hi Po-Hsu,
I can confrm that rk818 id need to be patched in bionic[1]. RK818_ID is
compared to value read from i2c RK8XX_ID register[2]. It should patched
because it was misspelled.
Grepping through BIONIC kernel gives me:
./include/linux/mfd/rk808.h:RK818_ID = 0x8181,
[Bug 1853192] Re: Please add patch fixing RK818 ID detection
2019-11-20 Thread Paweł Jarosz
Hi Po-Hsu,
i've tested all three kernels and:
- 4.15.0-71_4.15.0-71.80 - hangs at boot, may need aditional patches,
i'll look into it later
- 5.0.0-37-generic_5.0.0-37 - boots OK
- 5.3.0-24_5.3.0-24.26 - boots OK
So if it's ok, please add support RK818 id patch to all three kernels.
Thank you! :)
[Bug 1852635] Re: mount-ns test failing with latest bionic updates
2019-11-20 Thread Paweł Stołowski
They did (e.g. data=ordered is gone), plus an entry for systemd is gone,
affecting lots of entries (indices changed by 1). I'm on it.
[Bug 1825222] Re: CONFIG_ARCH_ROCKCHIP is not set in ubuntu 18.04 aarch64, arm64
2019-11-19 Thread Paweł Jarosz
Hi,
I've tested 5.3.0-24-generic kernel with eoan. It boots ok after adding
few modules (pl330, dw_mmc-rockchip, dw_mmc, sdhci-of-arasan, rk808,
rk808-regulator, pwm-rockchip) to initramfs.
Thanks! Ubuntu team is awesome! :)
Also I'll open new bug about adding RK818 ID patch.
About CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_ROCKCHIP=m please leave it as module :)
Cheers
Paweł
[Bug 1848753] Re: [snap] chromium times out connecting document portal with NFS home
2019-10-22 Thread Paweł Stołowski
Do you have any apparmor denials in the system log when you observe this
slowdown? (run journalctl, look for 'apparmor=DENIED'?
(for what it is worth chromium snap starts just fine for me on fresh
18.04 and 19.10 systems, but I reckon NFS may be a key here, and I don't
have it).
