[Bug 1943853] Re: Ubuntu update disconnected all snaps
To summarize, there are two issues: 1. snaps were not mounted on restart for some reason 2. this lead to loosing all auto-connected interfaces on snapd start (because snap.yaml files couldn't be read from disk) The cause of problem #1 is unknown and we had a couple of reports about this in the past. Snaps are automatically mounted by systemd mount units on boot, so why this didn't work is unclear. For problem #2 I've proposed a fix here: https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/10814 and with it connections should be preserved on such failures. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1943853 Title: Ubuntu update disconnected all snaps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1943853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1943853] Re: Recent update DELETED SNAP PROGRAMS
Ah, what I suggested in comment #18 would only re-create "system" connections (such as desktop, audio-playback etc) provided by snapd, but the other problem is with gnome-3-28-1804 and gtk-common-themes content provider slots. For those, removing and installing them back should re- create their auto-connections, so try this: $ snap remove gnome-3-28-1804 $ snap remove gtk-common-themes $ snap install gnome-3-28-1804 $ snap install gtk-common-themes As for the actual root cause, I fear it will be very hard to understand what went wrong without "snap changes", which unfortunately got pruned already. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1943853 Title: Recent update DELETED SNAP PROGRAMS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1943853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1922293] Re: Snaps appear broken on 21.04 Beta
Thanks for reporting, reproduced, the problem is indeed strictly ZFS- related and appears to be related to a number of zfs-related services and mount units that need to be ready before mount units for snaps can be executed during boot, otherwise snap blobs under /var/lib/snapd/snaps/* cannot be accessed and mounted. Sample log entries: kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine systemd[1]: Failed to mount Mount unit for gnome-3-34-1804, revision 66. kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine mount[803]: mount: /snap/gtk-common-themes/1514: special device /var/lib/snapd/snaps/gtk-common-themes_1514.snap does not exist. kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine mount[804]: mount: /snap/snap-store/518: special device /var/lib/snapd/snaps/snap-store_518.snap does not exist. kwi 06 12:44:18 pawel-virtual-machine mount[802]: mount: /snap/gnome-3-34 It seems that adding "After=zfs-mount.service" to snap .mount units solves it, but the fix needs to be applied in snapd that generates them as any manual changes to these files will eventually get lost anyway (also, someone with better understanding of zfs should confirm such fix is correct). [Bug 1902915] Re: snapd doesn't ensure portals are available even when they are needed
I understand this can be confusing, but I'm not sure snapd should be in the business of warning about missing desktop components or dbus services of the given interface. Snapd's desktop interface, as other snapd interfaces, grants access to dozens of resources/subsystems, some of which may not be relevant for some snaps, snapd doesn't have a way of knowing that. I think a solution to this would be a warning/popup implemented by desktop launcher script of thunderbird snap, it knows what's required for proper functioning of the snap (and can use snapctl is-connected for preliminary check, combined with runtime checks of actual services it needs). ** Changed in: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: High => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1902915 Title: snapd doesn't ensure portals are available even when they are needed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1902915/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1824162] Re: /usr/lib/snapd/snapd:11:runtime:runtime:runtime:runtime:runtime
I think the bug is in the go-udev package (upstream). The Monitor() function returns a 'quit' channel that the caller uses to stop processing. Monitor() runs a backgroud goroutine that monitors/reads from netlink socket and stops if quit channel is written to. I think the problem is that the quit channel is a buffered/non-blocking channel - writing to it and calling Close() on the netlink object right afterwards (which we do when stopping snapd) means we might be closing the socket and disposing the object when the background routine is reading netlink events. The fix should be simple, I'll look at fixing it in our source tree (conviniently this dependency is forked under our project) and will carry the fix upstream. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1824162 Title: /usr/lib/snapd/snapd:11:runtime:runtime:runtime:runtime:runtime To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1824162/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1824770] [NEW] Installer should copy fontconfig cache to the installed system
Public bug reported: After the installation completes, fontconfig cache files (/var/cache/fontconfig) should be copied from the live CD session to the just installed system, before reboot. The rationale: Snapd creates fontconfig cache files (/var/cache/fontconfig) for fontconfig cache format v6 and v7 (this is done by snapd to significantly reduce startup time for snaps that may use one of the two formats). This is a one-time operation that can take as much as ~20 seconds; it's performed on the live CD session as it runs snapd, but since the newly installed system has empty /var/cache/fontconfig after first boot, it needs to be repeated by snapd. This affects first boot experience as it has impact on readiness of snapd and snap for normal usage. I don't think we want (or can) change HOME in snapd (due to undesired consequences and breaking many snaps), it works as designed, i.e. gives snaps dedicated areas where they can freely write data to, including hidden files; access to real user $HOME may not even be allowed unless home interface is connected. @Daniel I see your point about Mir. Anyway, all I'm saying is this problem manifested via https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/bcb050f97778eb836056c1c48139bcde30ed0bcb is completely different from the original problem described in this bug. The only common thing is qFatal() gets called. In the original problem it was called directly by unity8-dash in response to boost throwing exception on incorrect locale (which was fixed by the attached MP). In this new case this is something else in the stack calling qFatal and aborting unity8-dash and I see no evidence of locale being involved. To sum it up, I think it's a different bug and I don't think unity- scopes-shell (the dash) or unity-scopes-api are responsible for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1363946 Title: unity8-dash crashed with SIGABRT in qt_message_fatal() under incorrect locale To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1363946/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1639249] Re: Result art not displayed when run in a snap
As discussed no change is needed on scopes api level. Scopes should be using scope_directory() getter to get the base dir and then use all assets paths relative to that; scope_directory() uses $SNAP prefix already. There is a problem though with thumbnailer uris, such as image://thumbnailer/file:///snap/unity8-session/... , which do not yield thumbnails. [Bug 1492252] Re: Allow direct linking to a Preview via uri
Hi Brian, I started working on the implementation in unity-scopes-shell at the time we discussed this, but it turned out to be more complex than expected. First off, the solution with preview_by_key I suggested above turned out to be a no-go, because it was incompatible with how preview actions work (I should have noticed it early...); so, the way to go is a "result_for_key" method that needs to be implemented by scopes which want to support canned queries requesting a preview. Second off, I've some of that "new approach" implemented in the shell plugin, but we will need changes in plugin<->shell interface too, and for the unity8 shell side of things I need somebody from unity8 team. I hope this will happen at some point, but this enhancement is not a priority at the moment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1492252 Title: Allow direct linking to a Preview via uri To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-developer-experience/+bug/1492252/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
