I can confirm this issue. The process kmix itself starts as it's in the processlist. There's no tray icon though. When i manually close kmix and then restart it, the icon shows up in the systray and my multimedia buttons start working. I can't open new conversations, the messages i type in open conversations don't arrive anymore and i can't receive any messages. When i close empathy and kill telepathy-butterfly, then restart it works again. When i only restart empathy it still doesn't work. I have an MSN and facebook chat account. I use the telepathy PPA. This behavior started after the last updates of telepathy-butterfly and papyon. Couldn't this be fixed by automaticly running nvidia-xconfig when installing the restricted drivers? Mooglinux is right about the nvidia- settings need to be ran in root.
