[Bug 1450228] Re: plasma screen flickering

2016-03-28 Thread Peter Fletcher
I have this problem with a new computer (Skylake i5-6400T), and the
problem appears to come and go over time. Aside from the blinking,
scrolling is jerky, vertical patches of the window become misaligned,
and windows often do not refresh when uncovered.

I switched from using the Intel video to an nVidia graphics card, and
the problems did not change, therefore I do not believe this is an Intel
driver issue.

I am using Kubuntu 15.10 upgraded to the 4.4 kernel.

[Bug 355846] Re: audacity stops recording after about a second when using software play-through

2009-09-11 Thread Peter Fletcher
After I set the Latency Correction in Audacity Preferences/Audio I/O
to 0 milliseconds, I have had no further problems with recording.

Perhaps the problem is in the latency correction.

[Bug 355846] Re: audacity stops recording after about a second when using software play-through

2009-09-05 Thread Peter Fletcher
I am a new Audacity user, and have similar recording problems. Ubuntu
9.04, Audacity 1.3., Athlon 1500+, Audigy sound card.

Many times, recording will stop after a fraction of a second, and
sometimes a dialog box will pop up warning about latency problems
(sorry, I can't reproduce it right now)

Many times, recording will also stop after several minutes.

Sometimes, recording will proceed for half an hour without trouble.

In all cases, the bar stops moving, but the record button stays pressed,
and you may press stop.

[Bug 361050] [NEW] Firefox crashes as file selection box appears

2009-04-14 Thread Peter Fletcher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Whenever I choose File/Open File or attempt to download a file, Firefox
flashes the file selection dialog on the screen and immediately crashes.
It has only started doing this recently. The crash happens in safe-mode
or in normal mode.

I also run KDE 3.

[Bug 361050] Re: Firefox crashes as file selection box appears

2009-04-14 Thread Peter Fletcher
I had a poke around on the web, and found more information about the
cause of this bug. This bug was triggered because I had a blank CD-ROM
in my CD Drive. When I removed the blank CD, the crashing stopped.
However, it does still seem to be a real bug.

I understood the message: what gives you the impression that I did not?

My apparent rudeness was a simple reaction to the fact that my bug report had

The request to submit further information about the bug should have occurred

[Bug 234528] [NEW] gstreamer-properties crashes with segfault with empty output pipeline

2008-05-24 Thread Peter Fletcher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

I have used gstreamer-properties to switch colours to fix a Video
playback bug in Ubuntu, setting the video output pipeline to:

ffmpegcolorspace ! video/x-raw-yuv,format=(fourcc)YV12 ! xvimagesink

This worked OK, until the colours became swapped again.

I stupidly set the video output pipeline to an empty string, whereupon
gstreamer-properties now crashes upon startup:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gstreamer-properties
gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'artsdsink'
gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'sdlvideosink'
Segmentation fault
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Now I cannot try anything else.

Ubuntu: Hardy Heron

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/gstreamer-properties
gnome-media: /usr/bin/gstreamer-properties
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04

[Bug 116103] No signal to monitor while in console mode

2007-05-21 Thread Peter Fletcher
Public bug reported:

I've just installed Feisty Fawn AMD64 version on my new box.

There are a few messages from Grub and the kernel, and the X server runs fine,
but whenever the console should appear (during boot and shutdown), my monitor
switches off with no signal.

Also, if you choose console login from the X login screen, the display
also disappears.

Here's some info:

CPU: 4800+ dual-core AMD
GPU: NVidia 8500
Motherboard: Gigabyte
Screen: Benq 19 wide LCD, 1440x900
