[Bug 1460445] Re: hp-systray: No system tray detected on this system, unable to start, exiting

2015-08-18 Thread Peter Liedler
This appears to be a problem with older systems. A workaround is to
modify the startup desktop connection file (/etc/xdg/autostart/hplip-
systray.desktop) from

Exec=hp-systray -x

to

Exec=sh -c sleep 15; exec hp-systray -x

Did not have the problem in 14.10.
Now I a m testing vidid, 15.04 and the nfs timeout takes about ten minutes
during shutdown because network manager already closed the connection.

[Bug 220242] [NEW] installation aborted calling grub function

2008-04-21 Thread Peter Liedler
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 8.04 kde4 release candidate (this did not happen with beta!).

Booting the laptop in installation mode, the installation itself works fine.
Suddenly, after hardware detection ubiquity ends and the kde4 desktop is
launched. When rebooting the system, grub gives an error.
I tried a new installation. Same result.
Inspecting the log in /var/log there is an exception during the call of grub
configuration. grub - no such module.
Sorry i cannot provide the log yet, because there is not network connection or
usb stick. I'll try something else to get the log file.

[Bug 146175] Re: Resizing partition without dialogue

2008-02-29 Thread Peter Liedler
Hi Terry,
I just tried it on hardy alpha 5 kde4 i386 disk. There is still the same
behavior.
I resized the only partition from 30 gb to 10 gb in the manual disk setup step.
During the file system check I selected skip. The progress dialog is closed and
no new one for the resizing process is opened.
The resizing action is still continued and the disk is busy.

[Bug 178299] Re: Can't create new partitions

2008-02-29 Thread Peter Liedler
I can confirm this one on hardy alpha 5 kde4 i386 installer.
Installing on a clean partition without a partition table only offers you the
possibility to create a new partition table.
After doing this the disk is NOT reloaded and the new partition table is not
written to disk. Because when you move a step forward, and back to partitioning
again where disk is scanned again there is still no partition table.

Workaround: manually create the partition table with qtparted or fdisk
(or ...) and restart ubiquity

[Bug 146175] Resizing partition without dialogue

2007-09-28 Thread Peter Liedler
Public bug reported:

Gutsy beta release
Just a minor bug - in my opinion.

When resizing an existing partition the option to skip file system check is
provided. When you click this option the file system check is skipped and
ubiquity continues to resize the disk.
BUT the dialog with status info of the resizing process is no longer displayed.
Resizing works nevertheless, but users could be clicking around nervously.

Do you need any logs?

Thank you for your bug report.
I had the same problem, after installing a lexmark, but had installed the
printer in kde system settings before I installed the right ppd.

So here are my questions: did you install the printer with a script or ppd file
(linuxprinting.org) and did you install it before.
For me it worked deinstalling, installing the ppd and reinstalling the printer.
Please tell me if that helps.

[Bug 68976] Re: System - Administration - Disks

2006-10-31 Thread Peter Liedler
OK, using gnome desktop.
From what I have learned by now is, that the disk administration program was
removed because of compatibility problems with hal. I'm pretty sure that there
will be one again for gnome, only question is when.
If I get any news, or somebody else has some, you'll hear.

[Bug 68704] Re: bcm43xx in edgy doesn't connect to AP anymore

2006-10-30 Thread Peter Liedler
Hello again, lets try next step:

is the module properly loaded? You can check this with the command:

sudo lsmod | grep bcm

Please post the output.

If not, you could add the module to /etc/modules - which could solve the
problem temporarily.

2006-10-29 Thread Peter Liedler
Thanks for your bug report.

Let me try to clear this out.
Your card has got no ip address from the router on boot up. Do you have a fixed
ip address or are you using dhcp?
I myself am using dhcp and it only connects manually on edgy with and without
wpa.

If dhcp works (no need to restart immideately), I will mark it as
duplicate of 64841 in hope that it will be fixed soon.

But for me it seems to be an upstart/dhcp, not a wlassistant problem.

Thanks

[Bug 68021] high pitching noise on microphone 82801G

2006-10-24 Thread Peter Liedler
Public bug reported:

Hi there,
I am testing kubuntu edgy eft 6.10 rc1 on an asus w5f.
Whenever I try to use the microphone, there is a annoying high noise (listen to
sample). The sample was recorded by audacity but I had to amplify it because
record level is far too low. Each recording program has this problem, so I
think it's something with the module.

Output is OK, just recording is defective. And no, I did not tell the
microphone to play back too, which would be possible in kmix. *g*

[Bug 64391] Re: katapult and amarok

2006-10-23 Thread Peter Liedler
From what I have learned is that the amarok team changed the way of storing
the file path in the database.
They made this to implement the usb and ipod etc. media in a better way.
For me it seems that enhancing the database query for the device (path is
stored relatively to the root fs) one could make a function to complete the
path. Simply adding the home directory does'nt use anything.
Seems that you, too, have made a separate partition for your home directory
(which makes sense).
