in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?s=ad014bb3386aef40fcb3b4ae44473cfat=1630347page=4 It seems either to do witk kernel queing of processes or acpi stuff - in any case kernel stuff which seems to bug quite a lot of people of all distros using newer kernels, and it does not seem to be fixed... [Bug 737051] Re: [regression] Alps touchpad detected, but scrolling not working
On my very old Dell Lattitude D505 I do have scrolling in the beginning, but kind of like gescheit, after a while (my laptop is often on a very long time, say more days) it looses the ability to scroll and more importantly middle button (right and left simultaneously). [Bug 559822] [NEW] editra is provided by both the editra package and python-wxtools and conflicts
Public bug reported: package python-wxtools (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/editra', which is also in package editra 0:0.5.30-1 I installed Editra from the editra package and then also wanted PyShell which is provided by python-wxtools. If I remove the standalone editra package and instead try the editra version installed by python-wxtools doesn't work because of some import errors ( described in for example https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wxwidgets2.8/+bug/470378 ). I think removing editra from wxtools package would be a good thing since editra and perhaps other parts of the wxtools package have their own release schedules. [Bug 516329] Re: TouchPad buttons don't work on HP Mini 210 (1030NR)
As RomainWartel said in comment #13. The first kernel patch here (comment #11) only enables right click. Nothing else. [Bug 49521] Re: Screen locks up black on laptop lid close.
I had the problem too in 9.10 but was too lazy to report it (shame on me) Now I have installed ubuntu 10.04 and with Kernel 2.6.32-15 it works, but with the newer Kernel 2.6.32-16 it does not ! I have tried the above workarounds #14 (resetting xorg, but I am unsure if this really works for the new xorg ?) and above #27 (changing lid.sh). Both did NOT work with Kernel 2.6.32-16. -- Screen locks up black on laptop lid close. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/49521 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49521] Re: Screen locks up black on laptop lid close.
Closing the lid causes a total freeze of my system, not even ssh is possible. I am giving up for now. I can not find a solution on my own and I am afraid that this problem may affect others with intel graphic card / dell laptops... My laptop is a Dell Latitude D505 with fairly fresh install and upgraded version of Lucid, Ubuntu 10.04: uname -a Linux clausen-laptop 2.6.32-16-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 9 16:33:52 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux I have also tried the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Quirks#Force Pipe A Quirk with the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf_NO_GO which resulted in system black-out (no screen, not even ssh from other box). In the attached archive dell_lattitude_D505_Lucid.tar.gz I have added : $ lspci -vvnn | grep -A1 VGA compat vga_compat.txt $ sudo dmidecode dmi.txt As well as the not working xorg.conf (generated with Xorg -configure + Option ForceEnablePipeA true ) as well as my /etc/acpi/lid.sh I'll be happy to give you additional infos, just tell me what you need. If I am posting in the wrong bug, please let me know. Just for the record: Graphics do look fine, seem to have OK performance. With my old Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS installation did NOT have this problem and as far as I remember I have not fixed or quirked anything... ** Attachment added: Hopefully helpfull informations http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40891004/dell_lattitude_D505_Lucid.tar.gz -- Screen locks up black on laptop lid close. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/49521 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482684] Re: The nm-applet icon is missing or the sound icon is duplicated and the second one is dead
I had the same problem installing Lucid on an older latop, dell lattitude D505. The strange thing was that I succesedded getting I-net (wireless, WPA2) this first boot after fresh installation. Then ubuntu crashed as I tried waking it up from sleep and after this I did not have any applet, and I was not able to connect to the internet ! I will try the solutions above, but I was quite amazed that I could not get the I-net running again. I tried killing NetworkManager itself, but that did not do the trick. [Bug 246659] Re: Backuppc no compression when change topdir
My suggestion would be to _at least_ add a notice about this behaviour in the distr config file. This is still a bug in 9.04. After forgetting this issue when struggling with it in 8.04 as well, just cost me a couple of hours (when realizing what it was I did felt kinda stupid not to rember it but still..) trying to understand the somewhat cryptic error message (`MakeFileLink returns error -4`) . Anyway, adding a extra notice about this somewhere should at least help new users to avoid this problem. -- Backuppc no compression when change topdir https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246659 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
