[Bug 1903579] [NEW] [Bluetooth speaker, playback] BT speaker connects, sound settings shows it as selected, but the sound isn't sent to the device

2020-11-09 Thread Petr Doležal
Public bug reported:

When a Bluetooth device connects, the output device selection in sound
setting automatically switches to it, but the sound isn't actually sent
to the device.

One has to switch back to a different device first (e.g. laptop speaker)
and then select the BT speaker again. Only then the sound stream is
actually playing from the device.

Specific device where this is encountered:
Anker Soundcore 2

[Bug 1902361] Re: Delete key inputs Unicode Delete character (007F) instead of deleting the next character

2020-11-01 Thread Petr Doležal
Happens in every app: Gnome Terminal, Xterm, Chrome, login screen.

It's only in some places, such as terminal or Chrome URL bar where the
character displays, but the wrong behaviour is everywhere.

There are no accessibility settings turned on.

[Bug 1902361] [NEW] Delete key inputs Unicode Delete character (007F) instead of deleting the next character

2020-10-31 Thread Petr Doležal
Public bug reported:

When pressed, the delete key inputs the Unicode 007F character instead
of deleting the following character. In most cases, this is difficult to
see, but in a terminal, the 007F is clearly visible.

The xev output for the key press is following:

KeyPress event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0x5df, subw 0x0, time 81101326, (1403,948), root:(1453,1062),
state 0x0, keycode 119 (keysym 0x, Delete), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (7f) ""
XmbLookupString gives 1 bytes: (7f) ""
XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0x5df, subw 0x0, time 81101443, (1403,948), root:(1453,1062),
state 0x0, keycode 119 (keysym 0x, Delete), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (7f) ""
XFilterEvent returns: False

This is a new fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04, I don't remember the delete key
working at any point since the installation.

[Bug 1827958] Re: [Acer Swift 5 SF514-53T] No sound at all from the inbuilt microphone - since installation of system

2020-03-23 Thread Petr Doležal
Thanks for looking into this.

However, this doesn't appear to do anything, because for me the booting
log has a line with the following:

snd_hda_intel: unknown parameter 'dmic_detect' ignored

And indeed there is nothing in the /sys/modules/snd_hda_intel/parameters of
this sort. Does your system have this parameter in that folder?

I wonder if I should try to update the drivers or something.

[Bug 1518457] Re: kswapd0 100% CPU usage

2019-02-24 Thread Petr Doležal
Recently got a new laptop with a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04 and now
updated to kernel 4.19.21-041921-generic.

It still happens even with 16 GB of memory and 4GB more in swap on SSD.
What is more dangerous is now that laptop has hyperthreading it goes
absolutely crazy and heats up insanely. At that point, the system is so
frozen no commands can fix it as one never gets to write them.
Restarting the machine with a button is the only option.
