[Bug 1584953] [NEW] backport fix for /proc/net issues with containers
Public bug reported: Request to backport Kernel changes from Kernel 4.5 to lts kernel 4.4 for xenial and if possible to lts kernel for 14.04 Change upstream: netfilter: Set /proc/net entries owner to root in namespace http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/pablo/nf-next.git/commit/?id=f13f2aeed154da8e48f90b85e720f8ba39b1e881 This is the Kernel-side part of the fix for "iptables-save does not work inside lxd containers" https://github.com/lxc/lxd/issues/1978#issuecomment-220998013 The necessary changes in lxc landed in lxc/lxd https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/1014 and is available in version 2.0.1, currently in xenial-proposed. It would be great if this would be backported asap. As it allows to manage the firewall within lxd instances using Puppet and probably other configuration management systems. [Bug 1103547] Re: drag and drop does not work language support not complete
Thank you! In my case, that will solve the problem. But if you don't want to deliver full language support e.g. don't install gimp-help-de you will still encounter the drag'n'drop bug. I tried to reproduce the bug in a 32bit and in a 64bit virtualbox precise installation, with and without Guest Additions (3D-Acceleration) there the Bug is NOT reproduceable. But on my real system 64bit, nvidia proprietary driver the bug is reproduceable, as it is on a few machines at work. [Bug 1103547] Re: drag and drop does not work language support not complete
Update: It's not driver related. It's some kind of randomness. I removed the nvidia-drivers on my machine and retried it. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I couldn't figure out a pattern, it seems I can do the same procedure once it worked, and the next time, it didn't, and again the next time it worked again. I checked whether it makes a difference whether I first unfold the list and focus it, but it looks really random. Here's a screencast: http://ubuntuone.com/3Zz7NvwEV8xlnHF7hgTjXX After I recognised, that it is random, I retried it in virtualbox (64bit32bit, 3D Unity) and the second time I tried, the bug was there too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103547 Title: drag and drop does not work language support not complete To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1103547/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 958848] [NEW] nouveau remains blacklisted after uninstall of nvidia drivers
Public bug reported: After apt-get remove nvidia-* the file /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia- current_hybrid.conf remains and blocks the loading of the nouveau- driver. So, Ubuntu works great, with 3D Unity and nouveau. Then I installed the nvidia-driver but didn't like all the consequences of that proprietary driver that doesn't integrate. - No proper Monitor detection (separate tool, forwarded to system as single monitor) - No color profiles - Ugly boot screen - etc. But after uninstall of nvidia. [Bug 905748] Re: Create WPA2 adhoc is Open, not encrypted
@mathieu-tl can you rely on your quick test connecting with android? Android doesn't support Adhoc per default. With the App Wifi-Analyzer you can see some details. When I create an AdHoc and select WPA, it's now recognised as WPA. WPA2 would be better, I guess. But before it was open. Why is it so difficult? @mathieu-tl Stock Android does not support ad hoc wlan. See here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=82 (Second most stars of all issues there) There are some custom roms like Cyanogenmod7 that support ad-hoc. [Bug 905748] Re: Create WPA2 adhoc is Open, not encrypted
I checked the behaviour of previous releases with LiveCDs. On 11.04 creating a WPA WLAN leads to an open network. On 10.10 I saw a WEP secured net (in Wifi Analyzer, Android) but the connection information in Ubuntu said WPA. I think it's the behaviour or Ubuntu 10.10 which led me to think it worked in a previous release, because I was asked for a password, but I wasn't aware, that it wasn't WPA but WEP. I'm sorry for the confusion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/905748 Title: Create WPA2 adhoc is Open, not encrypted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/905748/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 508632] Re: [FFe] Toggle button for Nautilus location field gone
Now that it's too late to change it back, I thought over it and how it could be solved intuitively. When you click on the right side of the buttons, it should switch to text mode, and back after leaving it. additionally it could set the cursor to the right position if you click on the space in between the buttons. I created a video Mockup of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlmNSrNoA2M -- [FFe] Toggle button for Nautilus location field gone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 508632] Re: Toggle button for Nautilus location field gone
The problem with Ctrl+L is, that almost nobody knows it. I found it here. And I am almost angry, that some developers who think they know better remove such a every-day use feature. Sometimes i like to paste a url, and when i know where i want to go, your much faster in text mode than with searching the folder. And no, Ctrl+L is not an option, it's a shortcut for powerusers. BTW you can leave the mode with Esc. -- Toggle button for Nautilus location field gone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 194472] Re: Please enhance the sudo explanation message
David Siegel This is definitely not a paper cut, as average users will never open a terminal, and therefore never use sudo. That's where I don't agree. In Forum posts and Support sites etc, you find a lot of command-line commands, that you're advised to execute to install a certain package or just to execute something and post the output. No visual feedback is just confusing. I just don't see why its better to have no visual feedback. Also when entering the pw when you login to a shell is not visible (not only sudo), and this gave me some trouble recently: I had a problem with the graphic card driver and was in Textmode. Because of a problem with the driver or whatever, not every keystroke was accepted. I had to log in in text mode. for the username, I saw the characters, so i could retype a char if the keystroke wasn't accepted, but when entering the pw i had a real problem. So, its not only useful for newbies ** Summary changed: - Please enhance the sudo explanation message + Entering password in cmd line gives no visual feedback -- Entering password in cmd line gives no visual feedback https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194472 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 324506] Re: Mouse has suddenly no contact, till X-Server restart
Hi Bryce Because the dual-screen setup made also a few other problems i plugged the second screen off for a while. Recently I plugged it in again. I don't have enough time at the moment to test development releases as I'm only at home at the weekend. I use up to date Jaunty. The case that the mouse had no contact didn't occur again, but other issues, I couldn't yet file a bug for. Examples: - At Startup, when Gnome is starting, for a moment, the area where I can move the mouse is a field in the upper left of screen 1 with the size of the resolution of the second screen - Suddenly I can't reach the second screen with the mouse, when I reach the border of screen 1 the mouse jumps back to the other side of the same screen. - Splash-Screens of Apps like OpenOffice appear ugly somewhere near the border between the screens - Java Apps have problems with this setup. e.g. JAlbum crashes on startup; In TuxGuitar the lines have the lenght of both screens, even though the window is smaller Vertical scrolling necessary - When one changes the screen with the mouse, an image of the cursor rests on the last position on the previous screen. - (My smaller screen 2 is aligned right bottom of screen 1) When you slip with the mouse over the upper right border of s1, the cursor jumps down to where s2 begins. This is annoying. Better: in Windows (Sorry) the cursor stops like in every other border, except where the second screen touches, the border is open. Perhaps you can use it, when I have more time, i will test it with the developement release. Don't hesitate to ask, I will try to answer. -- Mouse has suddenly no contact, till X-Server restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324506 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 324506] Re: Mouse has suddenly no contact, till X-Server restart
The last time it happened i took an envelope and jotted down what happened. Quite complicated, somehow it was funny. I hope someone can figure out where the weak point is, i tried to write down exactly what was working and how... I had two nautilus-windows open, one local, one FTP. Copied a file to FTP (D'n'D). pressed [F2], I wanted to rename the file on the Server but the local file was active/marked so I used the mouse to click in the FTP-Window. 1. No Mouse Contact (mouse moving, but clicking takes no action) 2. Focus on Top Panel (Ctrl+Alt+TAB) 3. Got stuck in menu (Apps, Places, System) 4. Move left (keyboard) Applications (top left) and Name (top right) highlighted 5. Navigating with Keyboard in Panel works 6. (Print Screen) nomouse1.png 7. Window-Management-keys stop working (Alt+TAB Workspace-Switching) 8. Scrolling in now active Window (Firefox) works with the arrow-keys. Alt+F4 closed the window. 9. gedit is now the active Window. Editing works, saving (Ctrl+S) works. 10. Alt+D (Datei, File menu) highlights menu-caption (File) but Menu doesn't appear. 11. Changing to other menu captions works (Edit,...) 12. At the same time as the menu is active, editing is ALSO activated - Characters, Keys that are not Hotkeys of the menu captions (*D*atei, *B*earbeiten,...) are written in the file. 13. Alt+F4 Save?-dialog. (working) 14. Next active window: nautilus 15. Navigating in main-window works (open subfolder) 16. Alt+D Menu-captions Same as gedit 17. I noticed that, for each menu caption, Arrow up/down results a change in the status bar (shows explanations to Menu entries) Menu is not visible. Only one entry/explanation for up and one for down is shown, for each menu caption. 18. Hitting ENTER on a explanation has no effect 19. With TAB I can change the focus of the features of Nautilus (tree, Main window, etc.) 20. No action on e.g. close tree-side-panel 21. But in Tree or Main i can navigate entries (Files/Folders) by entering a char that is not used as hotkey. Quicksearch field appears (lower right) in which I can navigate with Arrow-keys and edit all chars) 22. When quicksearch field is away Standard fail behaviour. * Rhythmbox is running all the time and playing, multimedia-keys ond keyboard work, notification ballons appear both (one from tray, one from panel app) (nomouse2.png) * Print Screen Dialog interestingly appears on the screen where the mouse is! (nomouse3.png, Printscreen-Dialog nr.2, with which i took this pic, was on the other screen, transparent area) Giving Up! [Bug 324506] [NEW] Mouse has suddenly no contact, till X-Server restart
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Suddenly the mouse has no more functionality. I can move the mouse, but i can't click, there is no mouseover etc. Only X-Server restart brings functionality back. when i activate in the Mouse configuration the Ctrl. shows mouse i see the animation in the upper left corner, even though the mouse is not there. I wanted to make a printscreen. the printscreen shows the mouse where the Ctrl. animation is. (Attached) So i tried taking an printscreen with Gimp. Which showed the mouse and the animation where they are, but unfortunately in that moment Xserver crashed fully, image wasn't saved. When i had gimp open, the mouse cursor changed over a certain area to a brush-painter, as if the mouse was over the image. but the image canvas wasn't there. it was on the right screen (Dualscreen), the change appeared on the left one.
