* Sebastien Bacher [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2007-10-25 18:23]: the issue is not to build the new dialog it's to push untested code to stable users, that will have to wait for hardy most likely That's why I proposed to have the option to use it available. With a separate binary package, people have the option to use it if they want it. Otherwise they have to use third party repositories. Another option would be to build a package for universe. For me, gimp-gutenprint didn't work ever, so I'm very happy to have a working gtk+ print plugin on my Debian machine. Re: [Bug 156765] Re: GIMP 2.4's new print dialog is disabled
Sebastien, that's all fine, this was just a proposal as I found the new dialog an improvement in the unified desktop printing experience. But well, it's not difficult to take the plugin from a corresponding Debian package (/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/print) and put it in that place on an Ubuntu installation (or to ~/.gimp-2.4/plug-ins). -- Philipp Sadleder http://sadleder.de -- GIMP 2.4's new print dialog is disabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm that bug. The GTK+ print support is explicitly disabled in debian/rules [1]: [...] DEB_CONFIGURE_EXTRA_FLAGS := \ --enable-python --enable-default-binary --without-print [...] Enabling print support would be a great improvement of the user experience in using GIMP in Ubuntu. Hi, as stated in my previous comment in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/93002/comments/4, the problem got resolved for Debian. I think the following changelog entry is relevant: openoffice.org (2.2.0-5) unstable; urgency=low [...] - make classes a normal dir again (and add symlinks in it) instead of it being a symlink itself since it breaks the UNO bootstrap mechanism some stuff (including extensions) seem to rely on... [...] In Debian, /usr/lib/openoffice/program/classes is a directory containing symlinks to /usr/share/java/openoffice/, whereas in Ubuntu Feisty /usr/lib/openoffice/program/classes is _itself_ a symlink to /usr/share/java/openoffice/, which seems to break the document conversion wizard and other wizards as well. -- [Feisty] OpenOffice 2.2(rc3) Document Conversion Wizard crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/93002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 41985] Re: Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode
I can state that opening files read/write remotely via sftp:// with OOo in Ubuntu feisty works as expected. People who had that problem as well: please recheck and report back. What doesn't work now is opening files via sftp:// that have only read permissions. [Bug 108152] Re: ipw3945: Feisty hanging on Starting Network Interfaces
I'd suggest that this problem (which I see on a laptop with an ipw3945, too) is due to the missing information which wireless network should be joined. On a wired NIC, you can simply run dhcp commands and get an IP (or not). [Bug 41985] Re: Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode
I'd like to withdraw my statement that it works in Debian, which is _not_ true. Debians OO.o and gnomevfs (whichever is the problem) suffer from the same issue. But, as stated above, gedit does open/save files on a sftp share if either owner or group has read permission, like one would expect it. Based on that, I think the bug is in OO.o and would like to provide additional information to help resolve it. ** Changed in: gnome-vfs2 (Debian) Sourcepackagename: gnome-vfs2 = openoffice.org -- Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode https://launchpad.net/bugs/41985 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 41985] Re: Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode
I tried the uid-gid-hack.patch for gnomevfs. It doesn't alter the situation for OO.o after all, but improves for the corresponding nautilus upstream bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346676 -- Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode https://launchpad.net/bugs/41985 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 41985] Re: Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode
The attached file shows a section from OO.o source. It checks if the remote file has owner or group matches the uid/gid of the running Openoffice process (!) This is all just plain wrong: - Local and remote users/groups aren't necessarily matching. - Openoffice checks things which lay in the domain of libgnomevfs - Even if users/groups are in sync on local/remote system, there can be supplementary groups the user (on both sides) can be part of. Of course, this is an upstream problem, but I don't know where to report that in a proper way and I think Ubuntu/Debian maintainers could help getting that nasty problem fixed. ** Attachment added: read-only check for gnomevfs http://librarian.launchpad.net/6646294/content.cxx ** Also affects: openoffice (upstream) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Changed in: gnome-vfs2 (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Rejected -- Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode https://launchpad.net/bugs/41985 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
