[Bug 1176862] Re: awesome crashes when using awful.util.spawn() on startup

2013-10-01 Thread Philipp Specht
** Description changed:

When using awful.util.spawn() in ~/.config/awesome/rc.lua to automatically
start programs on login, awesome crashes and sends the user back to the login
manager.

using awful.util.spawn_with_shell() in 13.04, the problem does not appear. I
was able to consitently reproduce this behaviour on multiple machines.

[Bug 1069343] [NEW] xfce4-session-logout --fast saves session

2012-10-21 Thread Philipp Specht
Public bug reported:

When calling xfce4-session-logout with the --fast option, it is supposed
to not save the current session [1], but it does.

Steps to reproduce: Start some programs, call `xfce4-session-logout
--fast --halt`, start PC again, login: The programs will be opened
again, which is not supposed to happen.

Version information:
xfce4-session 4.10.0 (Xfce 4.10)
Xubuntu 12.10

[1] From `man xfce4-session-logout`: --fast Do a fast shutdown. This
instructs the session manager not to save the session, but instead to
quit everything quickly.

 Status: Confirmed

[Bug 665546] Re: Drop and sub menus don't always show up

2010-11-10 Thread Philipp Specht
pfrenssen: Disabling visual effects in the Appearence Options will enable
Metacity.
Serrano Pereira: Compositing uses textures for each window, making it possible
to have effects like real transparency.

Anyway, I'm with Alexandre Anoutchine on this being an X.org bug, we
should mark this bug accordingly.

[Bug 665546] Re: Drop and sub menus don't always show up

2010-11-08 Thread Philipp Specht
Could anyone else please try using Metacity with Compositing (Activate
Metacity, open gconf-editor, navigate to /apps/metacity/general/ and
check compositing manager) enabled so we can pinpoint the culprit?

[Bug 665546] Re: Drop and sub menus don't always show up

2010-11-03 Thread Philipp Specht
Got the same problem here. Some additional information:
Also occurs with Metacity when Compositing (gconf: apps/metacity) is enabled,
so I filed a bug against the nvidia drivers that got marked duplicate. Can
anyone confirm that this is not just a compiz problem? If so, we should figure
out where exactly the problem lies...

Seeing that people with different drivers (and different WMs) got this
problem, my best guess would be the X.org Compositing Extension. Anyone
with a way to prove that?

[Bug 669665] [NEW] Dropdown menus occasionally do not show

2010-11-01 Thread Philipp Specht
Public bug reported:

Using both Metacity with Compositing and Compiz, occasionally a dropdown
menu does not get rendered. There is a workaround for each window
manager: Metacity with Compositing disabled does not show the behavior
described above, nor does Compiz with Sync to VBlank disabled. After
resetting all settings I could think of (both xorg.conf and ~/.nvidia-
settings-rc) this led me to the conclusion that compositing is, while
not completely broken, at least flawed with the latest nvidia-current. I
would be happy to provide any information that might be helpful, but
cannot think of any logs, but if there is anything, let me know.

[Bug 601850] Re: Filezilla crashes when open new tab

2010-08-13 Thread Philipp Specht
That fix doesn't work for me, using the versions below, still get the
exact same crash as posted above in the description when opening a new
tab in filezilla.

filezilla 3.3.1-1ubuntu1
libcairo2 1.8.10-2ubuntu1
libwxgtk2.8-0 2.8.10.1-0ubuntu1.1

Manually compiling the latest filezilla release (3.3.4) did fix this for
me, so it's either a 3.3.3 or a packaging bug.
