[Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage
Problem confirmed on 13.10. I can make the problem happen systematically (at present) by loading a large and complex document into LibreOffice. LO starts repaginating, and then the unity-panel-service goes into its busy loop. * It is not caused by memory exhaustion; my box has 16GB and it's barely used. * There is no visible file access. * The problem continues if I close the document and exit LibreOffice. * The duration of the symptoms are proportional to the document size. If I cut it by half, the problem lasts only half as long. * As long as I'm working in LibreOffice on such large documents, the problem happens every so often. I've not seen the problem when doing other work. I've attached the system monitor graph showing two incidents. ** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2013-10-22 15:20:49.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1199877/+attachment/3887360/+files/Screenshot%20from%202013-10-22%2015%3A20%3A49.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1199877 Title: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-consumption/+bug/1199877/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 462487] Re: [ooo-build] Calc's marching ants bring Xorg to its knees - AA issue
I confirm this bug is still present in Kubuntu, I'm not sure how to know what version I'm running but the problem seems to have arrived recently, possibly in a recent update. Anyhow, disabling ant-aliasing does solve it. I can confirm the bug, and the workaround, on two different notebooks that upgraded to 9.04. One is a Thinkpad X61, and one is an ASUS Eee 1000. [Bug 313231] Re: Backlight control doesn't work anymore on thinkpad
@Andy, I'm hitting the same problem on an X61. Brightness stuck on maximum, since latest kernel upgrade. The machine is running 2.6.27-11-generic. I've tried to install the kernels at the URL you provided, but the packmage installer reports Error: a later version is already installed, and stops. [Bug 294640] [NEW] Video playback not working on Thinkpad X40 under 8.10
Public bug reported: Happens systematically on Thinkpad X40 upgraded to latest Kubuntu 8.10: Playing a video causes the screen to go dark. The video starts to play and after a few second the screen goes black. The backlight is still on but nothing is shown on the screen. The computer is otherwise working normally - the movie continue to play sound. Restarting Xorg does not reset the screen. The computer must be rebooted to recover working video. Note that same equipment was running Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE3 without trouble. Have tried with mplayer, Kaffeine, and get the same results. There are other issues with video, possibly related: * On resume, the backlight does not back come on. This issue has already been reported on Launchpad. * Xorg randomly dies, taking me back to a console (and then restarting), as if I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.
