[Bug 1664535] Re: critical bug in top command package procps

2017-02-14 Thread Pieter Steyn
Hi again,

I've done some digging and this is a known/fixed bug in procps version
3.3.10.

This is not backported to the latest 14.04.x in Ubuntu, and I believe it
to be a severe enough bug to warrant such efforts.

FYI:

[Bug 1664535] [NEW] critical bug in top command package procps

2017-02-14 Thread Pieter Steyn
Public bug reported:

I think I've discovered a bug in the linux top command. (Ubuntu 14.04
tested only)

Steps to reproduce:

$ top
press k
it then prompts for PID or selects top process by default
press the esc key
press esc key again

Result:

it kills the process anyway

It's weird to me that the escape key is also seen as confirmation,
though I should have probably used ctrl+c, it does not feel right.

** Affects: procps (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 677960] Re: Ceph support in mountall

2013-06-14 Thread Pieter Steyn
I'm running mountall 2.36 on Ubuntu 12.04, and the problem still exists.

contents of /etc/fstab:
haproxy1:6789:/ /mnt/cephceph   noatime0   2

Reboot does not mount filesystem, but issuing 'mount -a' does.

[Bug 544828] [NEW] Depends on libapache2-mod-php5. This is a bug, as I would like to run PHP5 through apache worker using FCGI, which would run cacti just fine.

2010-03-23 Thread Pieter Steyn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cacti

Cacti should not depend on libapache2-mod-php5.

r...@news:~# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10

I prefer to use apache2-mpm-worker along with libapache2-mod-fcgid to
run my PHP sites. This combination will run Cacti perfectly fine, but
whenever I want to install it I get prompted that Cacti is also going to
be removed as it depends on libapache2-mod-php5.

Remove the following packages:
libapache2-mod-php5

Install the following packages:
php5 [5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.4 (karmic-updates, karmic-security)]

Score is 110

Then, if I want to remove libapache2-mod-php5, I get:

r...@news:~# apt-get remove libapache2-mod-php5
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:

After this operation, 11.9MB disk space will be freed.

I understand this is a very tricky bug, as Cacti must depend on some
sort of php5/apache being installed.

In the mean time I will just use Cacti from sources instead of the
package.

Hope this is enough info.

[Bug 420389] [NEW] php 5.2.6 'random' segfault

2009-08-28 Thread Pieter Steyn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5-cli

I'm getting random php segfaults in my /var/log/messages file:

ug 28 09:28:02 www kernel: [122051.459511] php[15082]: segfault at 7f2459eecf3b

These are most likely triggered by some of my cron jobs which are php
scripts, but it seems completely random. Sometime the script will
complete without segfaulting, other times it will fault.

I've never had these segfaults on the Centos 5.3 machine I migrated
from.

Here is an example of how to reproduce:

?php

$a = 2;
$b = 1;

$c = $a ^ $b;

var_dump($c);
?

Run this script on the command line, and once out of about 30 times it
will segfault.

[Bug 420389] [NEW] php 5.2.6 'random' segfault

2009-08-28 Thread Pieter Steyn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5-cli

I'm getting random php segfaults in my /var/log/messages file:

ug 28 09:28:02 www kernel: [122051.459511] php[15082]: segfault at 7f2459eecf3b
ip 7f2459c8a4ef sp 7f2457ff3c60 error 4 in

librt-2.9.so[7f164da68000+7000]

These are most likely triggered by some of my cron jobs which are php
scripts, but it seems completely random. Sometime the script will
complete without segfaulting, other times it will fault.

I've never had these segfaults on the Centos 5.3 machine I migrated
from.

Here is an example of how to reproduce:

?php

$a = 2;
$b = 1;

$c = $a ^ $b;

var_dump($c);
?

Run this script on the command line, and once out of about 30 times it
will segfault.
