[Bug 994688] Re: Xorg crash

2012-08-22 Thread Piyush Roy
Hi Daniel,

It would be great if you try to follow the steps which Marteen asked to
do. I cant do it since I dont have another system which I can use to
remotely login to affect system.

Hi Marteen,

Inside xserver when you try to run gdb does not work all. Not even
pressing ALT+F1/F7 to switch from x-window to text based window and even
this text based window hangs. It is my bad that I dont have another
system which I can use to remotely login to affected system.

[Bug 994688] Re: Xorg crash

2012-06-23 Thread Piyush Roy
Hi Marteen,

Even in virtual console it freezes.

Steps I performed.

1) Login to my desktop session
2) Run command "pgrep Xorg" to get the pid. Lets say 1122
3) Then I pressed "control-alt-f2" to go to virtual console.
4) Run command "pgrep Xorg" to get the pid and it was same i.e 1122
5) Run command "sudo gdb /usr/bin/Xorg 2>&1 | tee gdb-Xorg.txt"
6) Inside gdb console I ran "attach 1122"

On step it showed it showed some output

Yes, I am doing it locally. Not ssh. I have no way to ssh. Is it not
good to do it locally ? If so then I am afraid I cant give output
regarding this bug.

[Bug 994688] Re: Xorg crash

2012-06-22 Thread Piyush Roy
I think even gdb hangs.

At least from this bug I conclude that Bug #342588.

=

Hi Maarten,
I tried to follow ur steps but it does not accepts any input at all. Here, are
the steps which I perform

1) Run this command "sudo gdb /usr/bin/Xorg 2>&1 | tee gdb-Xorg.txt"
2) In gdb prompt, I attach pid of Xorg found using pgrep Xorg lets say 1122.
And I attach the process
(gdb) attach 1122.

Then the system hangs and nothing works. Then I have to cut the power
and then I start the system again.

Please Help !!!

[Bug 949286] Re: System Crash / Restart

2012-05-23 Thread Piyush Roy
Trust me, installing fglrx also causes crash and that too frequently.
Seeing so I installed open-source Radeon driver. The problem is
something else. I don't have much knowledge otherwise I could debug
more.

You need to see this
http://askubuntu.com/questions/106499/flash-player-crashes-with-firefox-chrome-chromium
But in my case, the whole system crashes and restarts which is quite bad.

Referring to other forums, gives in-depth information , may be more helpful to
you.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7506398

Because of this issue, I could not install Ubuntu 10.10,11.04,11,10 and
NOW 12.04. C'mon !!!

[Bug 401823] Re: Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

2012-05-21 Thread Piyush Roy
I have also got this bug and here it is causing system crash. This bug exists
after Ubuntu 10.04, at least for me. It is reproducible
by opening sites with flash content. Also for those who, this is just a logging
issue, well let me say, it is not. This is real problem and it should be fixed.
I am also giving my system information so that developers can fix this easily.

[Bug 994688] Re: Xorg crash

2012-05-19 Thread Piyush Roy
I think this is a known issue.
"(exe:3093): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead", this log came from

apport information

** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
   Status: Invalid => Opinion

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Today, system crashed(restarted) 2 times.
  1) Opening some site containing(java scripts) on firefox browser.
  2) Opening yahoo chess online (on flash player which contains javascripts as
well) also caused system crash. This happened both on chrome and firefox.

I think javascript somehow caused xorg to fail.

[Bug 947250] Re: System Restart on Intel MotherBoard DX58SO

2012-05-06 Thread Piyush Roy
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected precise ubuntu

** Description changed:

I am not sure how to reproduce it. But I found that the problem is
predominant when I enable power related options in the mother board
(DX58SO) like EIST and others. It seems some application loading or any
task initaition causes this system restart, this application or task
could be anything. Tha last time it happened when youtube video was
going to load (Firefox 10). I have never got the problem when the system
  is idle.

Addtionally, this bug is valid of all non LTS Ubuntu Versions.

[Bug 438618] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed

2012-04-26 Thread Piyush Roy
This issue is reproducible with Intel DX58SO motherboard. It occurs when
when open sites which contains Rich AJAX or flash player. eg Yahoo
Chess. This problem is prominent on Ubuntu Versions greater than 10.04.
I reported this bug Bug 986773 with apport but they also regarded it as
"Incomplete". You can also check 971353. I only mentioned one
reproducible path but I am sure there are many and with my experience I
have faced it multiple times. Also in my case, it is worst , the whole
system restarts with the crash.

If this bug is not fixed, then I cannot upgrade from 10.04 or else I
will switch to another Linux OS.

[Bug 949286] Re: System Crash / Restart

2012-03-23 Thread Piyush Roy
Hi Bryce,

Thanks for looking into this issue.

After getting so many system crashes I reverted back to Ubuntu 10.04 ,in
fear of getting my hard disk corrupted, where this issue not there. I
use default driver (no fglrx) and the system is quite stable. If you
want I can give you logs or information of this system with Ubuntu 10.04
for "reference" so that it can be compared and stable release is made in
future.

[Bug 947250] Re: System Restart on Intel MotherBoard DX58SO

2012-03-07 Thread Piyush Roy
Today, system crashed(restarted) 2 times.
1) Opening some site containing(java scripts) on firefox 10 browser.
2) Opening yahoo chess online (on flash player which contains javascripts as
well) also caused system crash. This happened both on chrome and firefox.

I think javascript somehow caused xorg to fail.
Please look into it.

[Bug 947250] Re: System Restart on Intel MotherBoard DX58SO

2012-03-05 Thread Piyush Roy
Additionally, the problem occurs in following scenario everytime with
non LTS versions.

1) Have an installation media(CD) for non LTS versions.
2) Boot the CD at startup for installation.
3) When the files starts to load (before showing the first installation page
where you select language then keyboard)
4) In that period the restart happens.

2012-03-05 Thread Piyush Roy
I cannot find the affecting package. You can change the package as
needed. Additionally, only hint is LTS versions shows stability to some
extent wrt the problem. With Ubuntu 12.04 Beta1 , system restart has
happened one time. It would be great if you could spend a little time
finding the affecting package which in return affects power related
stuffs in the mother board. From my experience , I think this problem is
related to power related stuffs in the mother board.

[Bug 947250] [NEW] System Restart on Intel MotherBoard DX58SO

2012-03-05 Thread Piyush Roy
Public bug reported:

I am not sure how to reproduce it. But I found that the problem is
predominant when I enable power related options in the mother board
(DX58SO) like EIST and others. It seems some application loading or any
task initaition causes this system restart, this application or task
could be anything. Tha last time it happened when youtube video was
going to load (Firefox 10). I have never got the problem when the system
is idle.

Addtionally, this bug is valid of all non LTS Ubuntu Versions.
