2016-11-30 Thread Prasanna Kumar
I copied the values from /etc/fstab while mounting. The command I used
to mount is "sudo mount UUID=86E4-0AA9 /boot/efi".

Attached my /etc/fstab file. I have commented the line that mounts
/boot/efi.

System does not boot as mount times out and drops to a emergency shell.

Did not try mounting manually. Will get back with result soon.

[Bug 1633825] [NEW] System goes to emergency mode as /boot/efi could not be mounted

2016-10-16 Thread Prasanna Kumar
Public bug reported:

System was booting normally with 16.04. Upgraded to 16.10, system goes
to emergency console on every boot. This happened due to timeout in
mounting /boot/efi. Commented out /boot/efi entry in /etc/fstab. System
boots after that. But wifi, bluetooth and sound does not start
automatically now. I have to load iwlwifi module to start wifi,
snd_hda_intel to get sound working. I am using a Lenovo G50-80 laptop.
Everything was working fine in 16.04.

2015-02-11 Thread Prasanna Kumar
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64431#c24 has the same stack
trace. Will try to check this weekend if the bug is fixed in drm-intel-
nightly branch.

If a .deb is available for that kernel I can use it directly which may
speed up my testing.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected third-party-packages

** Description changed:

Screen freezes when I watch video in VLC media player. Moving mouse is
of no use and Ctrl + Alt + T short cut does not launch terminal. But I
Could hear the audio even after screen freeze.

If I press Ctrl + Alt + F1 and wait for several minutes switches to
console. Then switching to GUI brings back the screen and I am able to
  work as usual.

[Bug 1419439] Re: Screen freeze when watching video in VLC

2015-02-08 Thread Prasanna Kumar
This is not a bug in VLC, it just triggers the code path within ther
kernel which causes the issue. Looking at the kernel OOPS it can be
confirmed that the problem is within the kernel (intel graphics driver
code). Please change the package back to Linux from VLC.

[Bug 1419439] [NEW] Screen freeze when watching video in VLC

2015-02-08 Thread Prasanna Kumar
Public bug reported:

Screen freezes when I watch video in VLC media player. Moving mouse is
of no use and Ctrl + Alt + T short cut does not launch terminal. But I
Could hear the audio even after screen freeze.

If I press Ctrl + Alt + F1 and wait for several minutes switches to
console. Then switching to GUI brings back the screen and I am able to
work as usual.

[Bug 847001] Re: Adjusting display brightness is very slow on several Dell laptops

2014-05-10 Thread Prasanna Kumar
Updated from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04. Keyboard input is sluggish. When
typing one letter appears after I type the next one.

While changing brightness using fn + brightness key notification appears
but the brightness change after a long time or does not change at all. I
am using a Lenovo ThinkPad L430.

Note: I did not have any such problem with Ubuntu 13.10 or previous
version in the same laptop.

[Bug 1108731] Re: libwebp.pc is not included in libwebp-dev package

2013-01-30 Thread Prasanna Kumar
I created a libwebp.pc file (modified libwebp.pc.in by hand) as I needed
that. I have attached the same with this bug. It seems to be fine based
on my usage but generating while compiling webp will be the best method.

[Bug 1108731] [NEW] libwebp.pc is not included in libwebp-dev package

2013-01-29 Thread Prasanna Kumar
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 12.10 libwebp-dev package libwebp.pc file is not included.
This file is used to determine the include files and libraries required
to use by applications that plan to use libwebp. As it is not included
it is not possible for other applications to determine the presence of
libwebp in the system and makes it unusable. Each dev package must have
a .pc file so that application that rely on them will detect them
automatically while configuring - this defeats the very purpose of
having the libwebp-dev package.

The same is true for Ubuntu 11.10's libwebp-dev package. I have not
checked the Ubuntu 12.04's libwebp-dev package.

[Bug 901815] [NEW] Random image getting rendered in intel i945G graphics card

2011-12-08 Thread Prasanna Kumar
Public bug reported:

Random image is rendered when I am doing normal work (like reading
documents, web surfing, etc) with gnome 3 running. I am using ubuntu
11.10 64bit version. When I run gnome 2 (ubuntu classic without effects)
no artifacts are there. When running gnome 2 (with compiz enabled) I am
getting similar effects. Guess this to be related to OpenGL Mesa
package. I am having a Intel 82945G/GZ graphics card. Mine is a fresh
installation of ubuntu 11.10. My system is up to date.

Output of certain commands that may be helpful:
lspci:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)

dmesg | grep drm:
[ 19.370851] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810
[ 19.553129] [drm] Supports vblank timestamp caching Rev 1 (10.10.2010).
[ 19.553133] [drm] Driver supports precise vblank timestamp query.
[ 19.598520] [drm] initialized overlay support
[ 19.767735] fbcon: inteldrmfb (fb0) is primary device
[ 19.767915] fb0: inteldrmfb frame buffer device
[ 19.767917] drm: registered panic notifier
[ 19.767949] [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20080730 for :00:02.0 on minor 0

Things are going fine when there is no compiz (or gnome3). I guess it is
because of OpenGL driver (mesa) as running gnome3 (mutter) also has the
same effect.
