[Bug 1962414] Re: screen white line coming at bottom

2022-03-25 Thread Prashant
Hi I have tried it but i think this is not the issue of laptop display
as i noticed whenever i hover my mouse at top bar little of the mouse
pointer is seen in the bottom pannel . And when i use to move the mouse
from left to right or vice - versa at top bar the half mouse pointer is
showing at bottom pannel(dash-to-dock) . i dont know may be next update
of LTS version of ubuntu may solve it . but its coming in jammy
jellyfish version also .

The only package which was updated, everything was fine until the update
happened executed the update-initramfs and once system rebooted dual
monitor was gone, recovered from the complete image of the system and
holded the package since then.

2021-05-13 Thread Prashant
Sebastien Bacher , pls also tell what's the alternate software/method to do
multiseat.
After Xephyr, their seems no hope. I run a computer lab for poor people, but
without multiseat it's not possible. What's the alternate.

[Bug 1883864] [NEW] package nmap-common (not installed) failed to install: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/nmap/nmap-mac-prefixes', which is also in package nmap 7.80-2

2020-06-17 Thread Prashant Kumar
Public bug reported:

I performed below steps to install nmap on Ubuntu 20.04

Steps for converting Nmap RPM files to Debian/Ubuntu deb format for
installation on Debian/Ubuntu

If you don't have the alien command, install it with a command such
as sudo apt-get install alien

Download the Nmap RPMs for your platform (x86 or x86-64) from
https://nmap.org/download.html. This description will use
nmap-7.80-1.x86_64.rpm

Verify the download integrity as described in the section called
“Verifying the Integrity of Nmap Downloads”.

Generate a Debian package with a command such as sudo alien
nmap-7.80-1.x86_64.rpm

This resulted in "nmap_7.80-2_amd64.deb"

Install the Debian package with a command such as sudo dpkg
--install nmap_7.80-2_amd64.deb

But this failed.

[Bug 1838796] Re: TPM event log does not contain events measured after ExitBootServices

2019-12-20 Thread prashant
Hi Chris,

I repeated the experiment with the above Kernel, but PCR#7 still doesn't
match.

I am using a custom tool to parse binary_bios_measurements. Attaching
the binary_bios_measurements binary and parsed XML for your reference.
Can you please try to parse the binary using your tool and check if the
values in tpm2_pcrread.out file match? According to the tool I am using,
PCR5 matches but not PCR7.

Something to note is that I have a custom key in MOK (so did Vinay),
moreover MokList gets extended in PCR7 (at least in the logs). Can this
the reason of discrepancies?

[Bug 1852860] Re: Display settings not saved across sessions

2019-11-16 Thread Prashant Deva
Updating, I have narrowed down the bug further.

So the settings are not persisted when fractional scaling is used.

If i enable fractional scaling and then change the scaling, display
settings are not persisted across sessions.

If i simply enable fractional scaling, but dont change the scaling
(leaving it at 100%), but change other display settings, like location
of monitors, they are indeed persisted.

2019-11-16 Thread Prashant Deva
Public bug reported:

I am using:

- Ubuntu 19.10

- nvidia xserver installed
- two 4k monitors

I changed the scaling and order of monitors in Ubuntu Display settings.

However when I reboot or logout/login the display settings reset and i
have to set them all over again each time.

2019-02-25 Thread Prashant Gupta
Hello Marco,

Can you please tell how long one has to wait for approval (in case of
bionic)? (a certain deadline will help no matter how far it is). This
bug is very irritating.

@PabloAB or @Sebastian Becher could you please tell how long one has to
wait before the new update to gnome-shell fixes the issue? I wanted to
avoid the method from Petruhin Alexandr of rolling back to earlier
version of gnome-shell. I can wait for the new update if it doesn't take
much time as you have mentioned above in the link above somebody already
fixed the issue.

[Bug 1812266] Re: Keyboard layout indicator does not indicate current layout (18.04 Bionic beaver)

2019-01-19 Thread Prashant Gupta
I face the same problem
Keyboard indicator icon keeps disappearing Ubuntu 18.04.1

Gnome shell version 3.28.3 Ubuntu 18.04.1.
As soon as I do screen lock or open up a new application, the keyboard icon
keeps disappearing. I have to press super +Tab see the current keyboard layout
icon again. But why does it disappear in the first place? I think the problem
arose after an update

Here is relevant information from logs:

Hi,

Please close this as the problem is back. It takes about an hour for it
to show up. I've reported the issue to the kernel bugzilla as it looks
like a driver/firmware issue (same h/w works in Windows 10). Thanks.

[Bug 1735040] [NEW] Constant scanning for access points makes bluetooth audio (a2dp) unusable; setting bssid fixes this

2017-11-28 Thread Prashant L Rao
Public bug reported:

While using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth A2DP together there was stuttering on my
headset. I noticed that the interruptions were happening at constant
intervals and wondered if it was on account of Network Manager scanning
for access points. Forcing NM to stick to my local AP by using its BSSID
seems to have eliminated the interference/stuttering almost completely.

This is with the iwlwifi driver, the chip is the Intel Wireless 3160. It
could be that the driver is buggy too but since tweaking the NM
configuration appears to fix it, perhaps something could be done there.

[Bug 1729886] Re: Nautilus takes longer than usual to empty trash

2017-11-08 Thread Prashant L Rao
Update on above: Tried emptying trash again in Nautilus after a few days
and this time it went off without a hitch. I'm starting to think that it
was probably Tracker doing its initial index run (I'd enabled it after
doing a fresh install) that caused the issue. Please feel free to close
this one. Thanks.

[Bug 1730903] [NEW] Firefox has screen tearing on Intel Graphics with default setting

2017-11-08 Thread Prashant L Rao
Public bug reported:

Firefox has choppy scrolling/tearing on pretty much any web page with
the default settings on Intel Graphics. Since the modesetting driver
uses OpenGL, you have to force enable layers.acceleration
(layers.acceleration.force-enabled) in about:config to remedy this. The
other thing that works is to enable the Intel DDX driver with TearFree.

This is on a fresh Ubuntu 17.10 install in the Xorg session but the same
would apply to Wayland as well as Xwayland also uses the modesetting
driver.

[Bug 1729886] [NEW] Nautilus takes longer than usual to empty trash

2017-11-03 Thread Prashant L Rao
Public bug reported:

Nautilus usually empties trash in a jiffy on vanilla gnome 3.26 (both on
Ubuntu Artful and on other distros). However, in the Ubuntu session it
takes a fair bit of time (processing...). My best guess is it is
something to do with the Ubuntu Dock indicator that mirrors Nautilus'

[Bug 1725976] [NEW] Sometimes need to login 2 times after resume from suspend

2017-10-22 Thread Prashant Soni
Public bug reported:

I'm on Xubuntu 17.10
About 50% of resume from suspend requires me to login 2 times instead of just
once.

I press shift to resume from suspend. The login prompt comes - I login.
Sometimes, I get logged in. Other times, the login prompt comes again.

login manager : lightdm
Been using 17.10 pre-releases (and taking daily updates) since about 20 days.
The problem has been around since day one.

[Bug 1422143] Re: No wifi connection after suspend with systemd due to missing "wpa_cli suspend"

2016-04-24 Thread Prashant L Rao
I'm facing the same bug while running 16.04 on a Dell Vostro 3558
(iwlwifi).

I edited the file /lib/systemd/system-sleep/wpasupplicant and changed
the bit that goes '/sbin/wpa_cli resume ;;' to 'systemctl restart
network-manager.service ;;'. Now when I resume from suspend, at first
the network is disabled but in a few seconds, network manager restarts
and my wi-fi connection reconnects.

The logs confirm this:

[Bug 1559364] [NEW] Elantech Touchpad is not recognized after kernel upgrade

The touchpad worked till the latest kernel update. Now it shows only as

in the touchpad being recognized and working again.

[Bug 1525060] [NEW] wanted to upgrade ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10

2015-12-10 Thread Prashant U Manohar
Public bug reported:

I see that currently, ubuntu support is ON for versions 12.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS
and 15.04 and 15.10.
I have 14.04 (probably 14.04.3) installed on my 32-bit dell laptop. I want to
try the non-long-term-support versions between 14.04 and the forthcoming 16.04
LTS versions. I searched on internet if it is possible to directly upgrade from
14.04 to 15.04 or 15.10, but it says that I have to go step by step, that is,
upgrade in the sequence: 14.04 --> 14.10 --> 15.04 --> 15.10 or, optionally, to
only consider upgrade to next long-term version 16.04
I want to suggest that, even if the long-term support version has updates later
to the discontinuation of support of the next non-LTS version, the upgradation
should be possible.

Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import django
>>> django.VERSION
(1, 5, 1, 'final', 0)

tail -f /var/log/apache2/error.log
