[Bug 1893781] Re: xfce4-screensaver shows desktop and no login screen when waking from suspend

2020-09-01 Thread Pres-Gas
I thought I would further note that this really started happening since
the switch away from light-locker to xfce4-screensaver. New installs
offer to fix settings between the screensaver and the power management
in xfce4-settings-manager.

Usually following the wiki page referenced mostly fixes it. However,
there are still some machines that do it relatively frequently.

[Bug 1893781] [NEW] xfce4-screensaver shows desktop and no login screen when waking from suspend

2020-09-01 Thread Pres-Gas
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release:20.04

xfce4-screensaver:
  Installed: 0.1.10-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.1.10-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.1.10-0ubuntu1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

product: 20SC000AUS (LENOVO_MT_20SC_BU_Think_FM_ThinkPad X390)
vendor: LENOVO
version: ThinkPad X390

Power management and screen saver configured as per:
https://wikinotes.presgas.name/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=robertpages:technotes:xfcelidlock

Often, when I close the lid to sleep this laptop it suspends normally.
When opening the lid, the desktop shows up and I cannot interact with it
and the login screen never appears.

Sometimes I close it again to suspend and then reopening will offer the
login screen, but usually I have to to to a virtual tty and shut it
down/restart it.

[Bug 1873368] Re: ssshuttle server fails to connect endpoints with python 3.8

2020-05-06 Thread Pres-Gas
I found an upstream bug and added details to that. If I point to
python2, client 20.04 and target 20.04 works. If I do NOT point sshuttle
to python2, but keep it at python3 it fails.

Keeping client at python3 while target is RHEL 7.7 works. Please see my
post in this upstream bug:

https://github.com/sshuttle/sshuttle/issues/381#issuecomment-624607821

Perhaps this can be coordinated with upstream?

[Bug 1873368] Re: ssshuttle server fails to connect endpoints with python 3.8

2020-05-05 Thread Pres-Gas
I did attempt to use "sudo pip3 install sshuttle" after "apt purge
sshuttle" with the same issue.

For me, this started happening when I upgraded my target server to
20.04. I did keep the sshd_config file the same. Not sure what that
means. Let me know if I can provide any info on that.

Additionally, I changed my target server I connect to a RHEL server.
That works.

[Bug 365796] Re: Terminal: true hardcodes gnome-terminal

2009-11-12 Thread Pres-Gas
Martin and Dustin,

Thank you all so much to both of you for working on this and figuring
out the root of the problem. Not only is this a win for desktop
interop, but it allowed me to learn a bit about both of these utilities.
They both rock and you both are teh awesome (to use the vernacular).

Martin, any ETA or possibility that this would be pushed out for Karmic?
Dustin, if this does get pushed out for this release, can the dialogue
show itself again? I suspect the file $HOME/.ecryptfs/.wrapped-
passphrase.recorded is the key, am I correct?

Dustin,

Pardon my ignorance on this, but maybe if you can enlighten me on this, we
might be able to track down KDE and XFCE equivalents or a way to make this more
platform agnostic. What calls this file:
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ecryptfs/ecryptfs/ecryptfs-utils/annotate/head%3A/src/desktop/ecryptfs-record-passphrase;?
Also, where is it in Gnome that sets the handler for sh?

[Bug 255467] Re: Implement S/MIME capabilities in Alpine package - willing to test.

2008-09-05 Thread Pres-Gas
So, now I am trying to build 2.00 and getting an exit 1 status on
./configure (no options). I am using a P4 machine. I don't have the
exact error that I got from the ./configure command, but am posting the
config.log file. I think the message may have been complaining about
termcap possibly? Do you have any build advice?

Asheesh,

Looks like neither of us will need to work with the S/MIME patch:

http://www.washington.edu/alpine/changes/1.10-to-2.00.html

Mentions experimental S/MIME support. Is there a way to at least get
this on Intrepid and should this be renamed...or even considered a bug?

I will be installing this from source and testing.

Thanks,

Robert

I have cc-ed Jonathan Paisly, the author of the patch. Maybe he can

I'd sure like to see what you get on the wep router with
network-manager, for thoroughness. I just found out the the b router
that I have that can do wpa is borked and wicd is still not playing nice
with wep. Since this bug is associated with network-manager, let's try
that if possible.

I have a Dell Latitude D630 with the same wireless card. Gutsy seems to
be using the iwl3945 drivers (http://intellinuxwireless.org/). I
believe that the drivers for 7.10 are now deprcated

drivers, I am not able to access my wep enabled router where a was with

I can confirm on the nautilus.
I did turn off the watch folders option with amarok and that reduced
drastically the amount of issues, but I believe that is only a
work-around and it happens with other apps. I would be happy to provide
anything else info-wise, just ask.

Bogdan Butnaru wrote:
I still get similar errors in a freshly-updated Hardy. (fuse-utils was
2.7.1-2ubuntu1 last time I checked.) By similar I mean the mount stops
working. (I didn't find that statv?fs error, but that was Azureus
complaining about the files not being accessible anymore.)

Things get really broken when the mount stops (eg, anything trying to
access those mountpoints, including Nautilus, freezes).

It mostly happens when the mount point is used more intensely, for instance
if I simultaneously do more than one of:
 * browsing media-heavy folders (where Nautilus spends time trying to build
 thumbnails and stuff).
 * copying lots of files.
 * analyzing songs in Picard.
 * re-building the collection in Amarok.

As Pres-Gas said, sometimes only one operation is enough. I have to kill
everything that uses the mount point and sshfs before I can unmount and
re-mount. (Otherwise I get in-use errors when trying to unmount.)
