[Bug 153702] Re: Dell Inspiron 530 SATA drive not detected in IDE mode
Tim: You haven't got it quite right, I think. My experience is that you need to change the SATA setting from IDE to RAID. It is, as you say, a relatively easy workaround; but a number of people appear worried about whether making that change will do damage, wipe their hard disks, etc. -- Dell Inspiron 530 SATA drive not detected in IDE mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 216908] Re: network manager prints errors to console during shutdown
I think it's a solution for some or all of the people whose machines DO shutdown but after a long pause and a screen full of Network Manager error messages. (And I assume it's a 'solution' only in the sense that it stops the error messages being displayed.) It isn't going to make shutdown possible when it wasn't before - but that's a different bug, isn't it? -- network manager prints errors to console during shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216908 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 216908] Re: network manager prints errors to console during shutdown
I take no credit for this - I read it on one of the Ubuntu forums - but it solved this problem on both my Dell machines that were suffering from it. 1. Go to System - Administration - Login Window. 2. Under 'General', press "Edit commands ...' 3. Select 'Halt command' - in 'Path' box, cut the text in quotes (I.e. "Shut down via gdm") - press "Apply command change" - paste the text back - press 'Apply command change' 4. Select 'Reboot command' and do as for 3. above Try restarting a couple of times and see if this has fixed the problem. It seems to have done so for a number of people, including me - although I wouldn't care to have to explain exactly how it's fixed the problem! -- network manager prints errors to console during shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216908 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working In Hardy beta
I have 3 systems here, all different Dell models, running Hardy final release (2 upgraded from Gutsy, 1 a new install) and I don't get the shutdown sound with any of them. All other sounds work and I had no problem getting the shutdown sound with Gutsy. -- Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working In Hardy beta https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214370 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
