[Bug 628277] [NEW] xsetwacom reports wrong expresskey configuration
Public bug reported: Tested and confirmed on both intuos 3 and intuos 4 on ubuntu 10.04 32 and 64 bit. Using version 1:0.10.5-0ubuntu4 of this package. Steps to reproduce: xsetwacom set 'Wacom Intuos3 4x5 pad' Button4 "CORE KEY CTRL z" This correctly sets the button, and the key combination works as expected. Now if you want to find what that button is set to, xsetwacom get 'Wacom Intuos3 4x5 pad' Button4 returns the number 4 instead of the key combination. This functionality is different than in ubuntu 9.10 and earlier, where it returned the key combination from the set line, "CORE KEY CTRL z". This bug is important because it affects the functionality of programs that rely on xsetwacom as a backend, such as this tablet control panel I am maintaining. e.g. http://gtk-apps.org/content/show.php/Wacom+Control+Panel?content=104309 I have also reported this bug here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3054502&group_id=69596&atid=525124 ** Affects: xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- xsetwacom reports wrong expresskey configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/628277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 403407] [NEW] Massive corruption of video memory when changing panel orientation
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel To reproduce this bug, go to system monitor and kill an applet linked using bonobo to the gnome panel, so that the 'do you want to reload' dialog pops up. Leave the dialog where it is, open the properties for the panel and change the orientation around from up, down, left, right. You need to be using compiz for this to work, but watch the spectacular corruption of all the video buffers for every window so that glitching goes all over the whole screen. I did this twice in a row and it crashed compiz. Ubuntu jaunty, nvidia restricted geforce 9400gt, google gadgets running at the time. No other open-gl or wine applications had been run since the computer booted. [Bug 369405] [NEW] XDG menus do not update after a program installs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: main-menu I noticed a strange issue when updating an application manually by uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. The entry in the menu (unmodified and located in the /etc directory, as opposed to modified overlays which end up in the home directory) which was present beforehand, had become deselected and I had to click it several times in the menu editor to get it to show up. This is some kind of bug either in the menu, or the XDG subsystem. The package in question was the upgrade for VirtualBox from 2.1 to 2.2 which required uninstalling 2.1 beforehand. The way I would code this is to manually stat the following for modifications each time the menu is opened: /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu /etc/xdg/menus/settings.menu ~/.config/menus/applications.menu ~/.config/menus/settings.menu Please take this bug seriously and don't mark it as invalid for whatever reason. [Bug 363468] [NEW] Can't eject CD while audio preview is playing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I get an 'application is preventing unmounting' error when ejecting an audio CD while the audio preview feature is on. Don't get me wrong - I totally love audio preview and think it's one of the best new ideas I've seen in ubuntu in awhile, but it shouldn't lock the drive, and should handle errors passively, as it's more of an inconvenience to see an error message than to not get an audio preview. My mouse cursor was inadvertently left on the audio file while ejecting, an all too easy thing to do. Just a little niggle if you can get it fixed. Hi Bryce, Yes it is still a big problem. I am using Ubuntu Intrepid Amd 64 and the corruption when scrolling is especially bad. Emerald seems to be ok and not causing immediate crashing, however heavy compiz / GL or multimedia use crashes it. Or it crashes when I'm at work using it and have lots of windows open and constantly flipping between them. The issue happens on an external monitor as well as the internal display. Here's the output of lspci -vvnn and the Xorg.0.log. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. [Bug 255813] [NEW] System freezes randomly with nvidia 8400m and compiz on a dual core system
Public bug reported: I have a vaio FZ11M, and this problem has plagued me through fiesty, gutsy and now to hardy (with many full reinstalls). Using the nvidia-glx-new package on hardy I have a fully functional system, but if I enable various extra settings in compiz or if I use emerald at all, the system will totally hang within about 30 minutes, usually right after doing something that requires the graphics card to work a little harder (i.e. move up a performance level), such as move a window, or use alt+tab (with the basic window switcher from compiz). I have since then tried downloading the very latest nvidia drivers from their website, and there is no change in reliability. When it crashes, I have no mouse movement, everything stops, no keyboard lights will activate, and I have to hold the power button in to shut it off. Ctrl+Alt+Sysrq does nothing. And there are no messages in any logs, /var/log/messages, system, kernel or X server just stop dead in their tracks. The system works fine for months on end with only compiz 'normal' settings enabled, and no emerald. This includes full, stable performance on heavy 3D applications like Portal being used. This is a totally 'stock' install of ubuntu Amd 64, with all updates installed. And the nature of the crash hasn't changed in over a year and 3 versions of ubuntu. Issue was also present on an i386 install of hardy. My hardware: Sony Vaio FZ11M 2 gb ram Nvidia geforce go 8400M GT T7100 Core 2 Duo processor No 3rd party hardware attached to the computer Sony has released no bios updates to-date, but I haven't ruled out that this may be a firmware issue. My xorg.conf is unmodified from that generated by nvidia-xconfig, I am running one display only. Although the crashes are random, it is reproducible by enabling either advanced compiz OR emerald OR both, and has never happened without compiz running, or with compiz 'basic' mode from the gnome appearance tab. It happens irrespectively of what programs are running at the time. If you could help I would be very appreciative. I know there have been other bug reports of nvidia crashing on core2duo systems, but their issues do not seem to coincide with the ones I am experiencing, i.e. I cannot move the mouse or unlock the system by any key combos. The only other issue I have experienced with software is graphical corruption when scrolling in any GTK app or firefox where it misses lines and screws up the picture and text. This happens only when using nvidia-glx-new, and only at random intervals where it stays until the system is restarted or put to sleep then woken up again, or will go away temporarily if I restart the x-server. This has almost completely disappeared with recent updates. Please make my computer more stable, linux gurus! ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I have a vaio FZ11M, and this problem has plagued me through fiesty, gutsy and now to hardy (with many full reinstalls). Re: [Bug 125930] Re: Problems on Vaio FZ11M
Hi, The only problems I am still encountering with the FZ11M are lack of automatic detection of the CD drive, requiring the all-generic-ide kernel switch. The webcam doesn't work with UVCvideo drivers, I had to find and install some proprietary ones from a website. Suspend and hibernate do not work, along with lcd brightness. The sound card won't cut off the internal speakers when headphones are plugged in. Everything else seems to work absolutely fine with this laptop, and all my other problems are not hardware related. Most of these seem to be already reported as bugs. However I don't think the CD drive issue is addressed at all, and uvc video module could take whatever makes the other set of drivers work and use that functionality to improve its own. It's an scsi-based cd/dvd in a pretty new laptop, I've tried every kernel switch at boot that I could find around the internet even vaguely relating to this problem to no avail. It manifests by saying Unable to mount the selected volume. mount: special device /dev/hda does not exist I've tried with: noapic nolapic acpi=off pci=routeirq pci=noacpi acpi=noirq pci=nomsi acpi=force irqpoll all-generic-ide insmod=ide-generic libata.atapi_enabled=1 For whatever it's worth, I've tried all of these in various combinations, they all seem to impare the speed of my machine and have no other effect. There's nothing in /dev folder, no cdrom, no hda, no scd0, no sda, no ide or anything CD-Related, just my four partitions on my harddrive. I would have gone back to using the old kernel, but I can't reinstall the restricted modules as they have been removed from the repositories. [Bug 125930] Problems on Vaio FZ11M
Public bug reported: I have ubuntu feisty installed on this new machine, and have run into alot of issues with it. Firstly, the graphics controller (with latest nvidia proprietary drivers) is underperforming, and often crashes the system completely, total lockup of mouse etc when in use (eg by beryl). It can't resume from suspend, and will not work at all (can't enable display in X or terminal) if usplash is running during boot. Secondly, the CD drive is not detected, and isn't allocated in /dev/ as anything. It loaded the livecd off it, so I don't see why this should be a problem. When the computer totally locks up, no log file seems to take note of anything out of the ordinary except that it had just detected the CDRom and was trying to do something with it.
