[Bug 945250] [NEW] install crashed after grub failed

2012-03-02 Thread Qays Poonawala
Public bug reported:

Installing from 11.10 AMD64 + Mac iso on a CD.
Used incorrect custom HD partitioning, where GRUB install failed. When warned
that GRUB failed, it prompted for a new location and worked. Installer finished
up and hung saying Installation has finished. You can continue testing Ubuntu
now, but until you restart the computer, any changes you make or documents you
save will not be preserved. Unable to click either Continue or Restart.

May have been because I was changing proxy settings on the system to use
my university's proxy autoconfig pac file.

Applying the proxy system wide seems to break updatemanager with proxy
auth requests, even if I add archive.canonical.com and
archive.ubuntu.com to the bypass. APT may have been running in the
background while I was doing this.

[Bug 735061] [NEW] evolution setup and settings windows too large on netbook

2011-03-14 Thread Qays Poonawala
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When setting up Evolution Mail either for the first time or when editing
settings, the windows are too large to be seen on my Netbook (1024*576
resolution in Natty). I was only able to configure everything by using
Alt-Click-and-Drag.
Also, when going through the initial setup in this manner, the page would
sometimes blank and leave only the fields visible until a Alt-Click-and-Drag.

[Bug 710797] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in g_atomic_int_get()

2011-03-13 Thread Qays Poonawala
For me the bug occurred when trying to remove Pandora (One) from my Launcher.
I had not uninstalled Pandora or Adobe Air, but the shortcut in Launcher did
not work. I opened Pandora again through Air, and it opened in another tab on
my Launcher, so I right clicked and selected to keep that one in Launcher. Then
I tried to remove the other one, and it crashed.

[Bug 611175] [NEW] on login, keeps spawning file manager

2010-07-29 Thread Qays Poonawala
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Had just upgraded from 10.04 UNR to the Alpha of 10.10
My user, after the restart, would (and still) just keep spawning File Manager
Starting... windows. Also of note, the interface is the standard desktop one,
not Unity or the old UNR style.
A simple killall nautilus stops this from happening, until the next login
with the same user.
Creating a new user and logging in as that one, everything is as expected with
the Unity interface.

[Bug 452714] [NEW] VPNC doesn't display connection dialog

2009-10-15 Thread Qays Poonawala
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vpnc

The VPN at work is an IPSec Cisco VPN (don't have more details at the moment,
but I can ask IT if needed), and works with the Cisco Client on Mac OS 10.5 and
Windows XP/Vista 32bit (but I can't get the Linux proprietary one to build) as
well as the ones built in to Mac OS 10.6 and the iPhone OS 3.
When using any client, after negotiating a connection, the client prompts the
user to click continue (to start the session) or disconnect.
Using VPNC 0.5.3-1 on my 9.10 Netbook Remix and 9.10 Desktop either with
network-manager-vpnc or the command line interface, this prompt is displayed as
a notification (in the fading black boxes when using manager, in the terminal
when using the CLI). At this point the network-manager applet shows a lock over
the connection, and a plug (as if connected to a wall outlet) next to the VPN
name. Also: the network interface tun0 shows up when running ifconfig while the
VPN is in this state, the IP routing tables are modified, and I am able to make
DNS queries but not ping successfully (clearing DNS cache and pinging a domain
name will show the IP address for the destination, but no packets will be
returned).

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
Date: Thu Oct 15 18:12:56 2009
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10
ExecutablePath: /usr/sbin/vpnc
NonfreeKernelModules: wl
Package: vpnc 0.5.3-1
ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user)
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.46-generic
SourcePackage: vpnc
Tags: ubuntu-unr
Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic i686

** Affects: vpnc (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 425724] Re: pinentry-gtk-2 crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_window_set_transient_for()

2009-10-15 Thread Qays Poonawala
By enabling the property no_maximize in gconf-editor under
/apps/maximus this problem can be avoided. The bug seems to occur when
maximus repeatedly attempts to maximize the pinentry window.

[Bug 451589] Re: screen turn black slowly afer watching google videos for 5 min

2009-10-14 Thread Qays Poonawala
Seems like Screensaver is starting. Flash doesn't disable screensaver,
totem does.
