[Bug 69160] hal failed to initialize

2006-10-29 Thread RGilbert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

edgy 6.1
Current Operating System: Linux rg-desktop 2.6.17-10 i686

During system bootup, after restart, received error message hal failed
to initialize.

Event: System bootup finished, plugged in LG 1gb usb flash drive,
complete system freeze.

Turned machine off. reboot. hal error message received.

edgy seems to be having problems mounting usb removable media. no
problems with same media in breezy.

2nd scenario: plug 2gb pny sd card into reader, does not auto mount.
auto mount and hot plug are both option selected as menu option.

Temporarily resolve sd problem by opening up removable drive dialog box
and closing. the system then mounts sd.

Re: [Bug 186193] Re: soundgraph imon LCD not recognized

2008-03-05 Thread RGilbert
Yes, that is correct. The PC case, sold as Home theater PC, has an LCD
monitor on the front. It provides media info, mail etcetera

On closing down system in linux, it doesn't power down.

I attempted to install the linux drivers from
http://venky.ws/projects/imon/ .

Either didn't install correct or doesn't integrate with Ubuntu.

Ubuntu better. Could you please explain what exactly is happening that
should or shouldn't be? From what you've given us I'd guess that your
monitor is not powering off when you turn off your computer. Is that
correct? Thanks in advance.

I don't understand the question?
eventually, following steps on Codeka.com i was able to get imon LCD working.
Minimal function: showed time. Yes, i386 was kernel.
Latest Ubuntu updates have since wiped out the changes that allowed some
functionality.

2007-06-14 Thread RGilbert
Sorry, your right. I probably forgot to connect art-laptop when I ran
ethtool. My job was interfering with my recreation therefore a bit
distracted.

It previously ran Win NT with connection to corporate network.

The Ethernet card was an option put in the notebook by IBM at time of purchase.
Intel 10/100 Ethernet Mini-PCI Adapter with 56K Modem

The art-laptop NIC is connected to Netgear router now. A PC connected to
same router running same version of Linux has no problems with SMC NIC.

The art-laptop has never been connected to this network in the past. It
was a corporate sell off as end of life cycle hardware.

Hope that is the answer to your questions. I've posted new ethtool log,
connected to router this time.

[Bug 69160] hal failed to initialize

2006-10-29 Thread RGilbert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

edgy 6.1
Current Operating System: Linux rg-desktop 2.6.17-10 i686

During system bootup, after restart, received error message hal failed
to initialize.

Event: System bootup finished, plugged in LG 1gb usb flash drive,
complete system freeze.

Turned machine off. reboot. hal error message received.

edgy seems to be having problems mounting usb removable media. no
problems with same media in breezy.

2nd scenario: plug 2gb pny sd card into reader, does not auto mount.
auto mount and hot plug are both option selected as menu option.

Temporarily resolve sd problem by opening up removable drive dialog box

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for
you? Thanks in advance.

I've posted new ethtool log,
connected to router this time.

ethtool seems to indicate that the network adapter is not connected,
"Link detected: no". What kind of physical setup do you have? Has the
network adapter in that system worked previously?

[Bug 153185] Re: lcdproc needs patch for the imon lcd

2008-05-16 Thread RGilbert
ubuntu 8.04 requires the patch as listed above. Fusion black HTPC with
imon LCD will work if lcdproc built with patch. currently patched and
running, although only showing time. Would be nice if rhythmbox plugin
available to display media.

I don't understand the question?
eventually, following steps on Codeka.com i was able to get imon LCD working.
Minimal function: showed time. Yes, i386 was kernel.
Latest Ubuntu updates have since wiped out the changes that allowed some
functionality.

[Bug 69160] hal failed to initialize

2006-10-29 Thread RGilbert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

edgy 6.1
Current Operating System: Linux rg-desktop 2.6.17-10 i686

During system bootup, after restart, received error message hal failed
to initialize.

Event: System bootup finished, plugged in LG 1gb usb flash drive,
complete system freeze.

Turned machine off. reboot. hal error message received.

edgy seems to be having problems mounting usb removable media. no
problems with same media in breezy.

2nd scenario: plug 2gb pny sd card into reader, does not auto mount.
auto mount and hot plug are both option selected as menu option.

Temporarily resolve sd problem by opening up removable drive dialog box
and closing. the system then mounts sd.

[Bug 153185] Re: lcdproc needs patch for the imon lcd

2008-05-16 Thread RGilbert
ubuntu 8.04 requires the patch as listed above. Fusion black HTPC with
imon LCD will work if lcdproc built with patch. currently patched and
running, although only showing time. Would be nice if rhythmbox plugin
available to display media.

Re: [Bug 120401] Re: no internet connection, no ip e100

I've posted new ethtool log,
connected to router this time.

ethtool seems to indicate that the network adapter is not connected,
"Link detected: no". What kind of physical setup do you have? Has the
network adapter in that system worked previously?
