[Bug 1638125] Re: USN-3109-1: MySQL vulnerabilities partially applies to MariaDB too
Regarding ironstorm's note in #21, we didn't realize our /var/lib/mysql folder was moved to /tmp/mysql-symlink-restore-forbvv/. Apparently a previous upgrade of mysql-5.7 left /var/lib/mysql-upgrade/ in place with a DATADIR symlink to 'mysql-5.7'. This confused mariadb- server-10.0.postinst [1] and triggered the "# this should never even happen, but just in case..." block. Neither ironstorm or I noticed that our /var/lib/mysql folder had been moved into /tmp, so we thought it had been lost. Glad to not have data loss, but pretty spooked. /tmp does not seem like a very good place for this since it could be automatically wiped. Hi -- to repeat what Jus said in #13 -- the Mixxx desktop shortcut runs: $ pasuspender mixxx Mixxx itself does not suspend Pulse. [Bug 1097286] Re: Crashes when activating MIDI Controller Hercules MP3 e2
@Daniel -- I'm pretty sure OpenGL isn't a problem here. It was probably just in the middle of painting OpenGL when PortMIDI called exit() which terminated Mixxx. In particular this text: PortMidi call failed... PortMidi: `Invalid MIDI message Data' type ENTER... is straight out of the PortMIDI source right before a call to exit() and you can see in the trace for the PortMIDI thread that it has called exit() : Thread 11 (Thread 0xb0b53b40 (LWP 3945)): #0 0x00fc5e40 in ?? @Alessio -- if PortMIDI were compiled without the PM_CHECK_ERRORS then it would handle errors gracefully (returning an error code) instead of calling exit(-1) and killing the process. [Bug 656241] Re: Mixxx with ATI graphics card (using FGLRX) crashes Ubuntu
Hi Bryce, Sorry for not responding to you earlier. Basically we're at the point where we don't know what the problem is. I'm fairly sure it's not something wrong with Mixxx, but the way we are using the Qt OpenGL API's seems to elicit a hard system crash for users of FGLRX. The proposed patch has shown some promising results, but we aren't sure that it doesn't trigger the issue for everyone affected. Whether this means it's an FGLRX issue, a Qt issue, or somewhere else in the stack -- I'm not sure. I'd definitely appreciate any advice you might have on trying to pin this down to a specific area. Unfortunately I (or any other Mixxx devs) can't seem to reproduce this on the little ATI hardware we have. [Bug 656241] Re: Mixxx with ATI graphics card (using FGLRX) crashes Ubuntu
OK I got ahold of a laptop with an ATI graphics card to test this. With Ubuntu 10.04, on a laptop with an ATI Radeon HD3470 video card, with fglrx (2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5) from the Ubuntu repositories, if I turn on Standard desktop effects, then one of the Mixxx waveforms flickers severely and 'ghosts' if I move the Mixxx window around (i.e. the waveform does not move with the Mixxx window, it remains where it was originally created). If I rapidly minimize/expand Mixxx, eventually X freezes and I have to restart GDM. With desktop effects turned off, Mixxx (both the 1.8 branch and trunk) run perfectly. While running the Qt examples, it looks like the 'textures' example shows similar results. This is likely because it is the only example that uses multiple OpenGL contexts. For all of you, would you please install the package 'qt4-demos' and then run the following program: /usr/lib/qt4/examples/opengl/textures/textures Please report whether or not the program causes a crash similar to the way Mixxx crashes. That will help me determine whether or not we are dealing with a Mixxx bug, a Qt bug, or an fglrx bug. [Bug 654813] Re: Jus skins have incorrect library colours in Qt 4.7/Ubuntu 10.10
Hi Alessio, I'm not sure how best to address this. We just released version 1.8.1, which is a pure bugfix release.
