[Bug 1861610] Re: 'Elan touchpad' not detected in 'Ubuntu 19.04' on 'Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL'

2020-03-03 Thread Raúl Álvarez Tenor
Hi,

The proposed solution for the suggested duplicate
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1853277) is not
applicable for IIL Lenovo ThinkBook submodels. I've tried the
insructions there but the proposed patch cannot be applied since the
string is not found in the decompiled DSDT table.

Could you please indicate on how to proceed to modify the DSDT ACPI
table for IIL models for the touchpad to work? Please let me know if you
need further information on this.

Best regards,

Raúl.

[Bug 1831593] Re: ssmtp stopped sending through Gmail mailhub

2019-06-05 Thread Raúl
I can confirm this issue. I've installed two virtual machines, one with
Ubuntu 18.04 and another with 19.04. In the two machines I only have
installed updates and ssmtp package. With the same configuration in
both, the ubuntu 18.04 works correctly but the 19.04 not. The error is
the same as Walter says.

Re: [Bug 1817234] Re: Bug in "python3-ebooklib" that was fixed upstream years ago but package is outdated

2019-05-13 Thread Raúl Soriano
With all due respect, this kind of response is ridiculous. Don't take
this personally, I'm talking about the situation, not your reply.

I'm using Ubuntu, not Debian, so I report a problem in Ubuntu, not in
Debian, and whatever steps Ubuntu need to take to resolve the problem
should be handled by Ubuntu itself. Asking an user to go somewhere
else for help with a problem in Ubuntu gives a VERY VERY BAD
IMPRESSION.

If I where an average user who took the time to learn how and where
to report a problem, just to be told "go somewhere else, figure out
how they do things, register in their web so you can report and leave
us alone", I'd just stop using Ubuntu all together.

If I used Debian, Arch, Fedora, SuSe or any other distribution, I
wouldn't be reporting a problem TO Ubuntu, but just so happens that
I'm an user of Ubuntu, and here is my report. I refuse to go somewhere
else.

Back on topic about the python3-ebooklib package, Ubuntu can choose
not to distribute an unmaintained package if that's the best option
they have, but distributing an OLD, OUTDATED and BUGGY package is
plain wrong.

[Bug 1827819] [NEW] Systemtap stapconf header is not generated

2019-05-05 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from Ubuntu 18.10 to Ubuntu 19.04. Systemtap does not compile
scripts any more. It reports that stapconf_[random].h header file does
not exist. The Makefile in /tmp/stap[random]/ does exist, but for some
reason the C header is not being generated.

The systemtap script I am using contains the following probes:

global p_count = 0
probe kprocess.create {
p_count += 1
//printf("Process: %s - PID: %d - Created PID: %d - Created TID: %d -
Parent process: %d - Parent name: %s - Processes created:
%d\n",execname(),pid(),new_pid,new_tid,ppid(),pid2execname(ppid()),p_count)
}

probe socket.create {
printf("Process socket: %s - PID: %d - Parent process: %s - PPID:
%d\n",execname(),pid(),pid2execname(ppid()),ppid())
}

It worked in Ubuntu 18.10. But not in 19.04. I have compiled Systemtap
4.0 from source and reports the same error.

While there are workaround for this specific bug, the package should be fixed.

This is a very very old bug, that was fixed upstream in 2016
(https://github.com/aerkalov/ebooklib/issues/92), but the packaged
release is even older.

The current package in ubuntu/debian is for release 0.15 from back in
2014, and has many bugs that have been fixed upstream.

There have been new releases in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Can we get an update for this?

[Bug 1747824] Re: fp ide crashes on launch with runtime error 106 at $00000000004D7E1D

2018-04-23 Thread Raúl Soriano
In reply to Paul, here is the output you asked for:

~ ls -al $(readlink -f $(which fp))
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 5266448 abr 22 16:10 /usr/bin/fp-3.0.4

Guess you wanted to verify I wasn't hitting a "third party" binary or
something like that.

I've been combing through freepascal.org bug tracker and found that fp-
ide is somewhat sensitive regarding terminals.

In their forum I've found a recent question regarding problems with tmux
(no bug report though). The proposed workaround is to run fp ide inside
screen inside tmux until a better solution can be found (
https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?topic=40299.0 ).

I've just found the root cause for this is tmux. If fp ide is run on an
xfce terminal it doesn't crash, but under tmux on the same xfce terminal
it does.

I'll try to identify whether this is a "package problem" or an upstream
one.

[Bug 1020048] Re: after certain time printing to cups stops working

2018-03-21 Thread Raúl Vidal
I have to confirm this bug. 300 seconds timeout. CUPS does not reopen
connections again. Notifiers are shutdown.
The workaround is to enable the web interface. But this should not be
necessary. CUPS should work without the web interface, as that is the default
behaviour defined by upstream.

[Bug 1598300] Re: CUPS web interface stops responding after a while

2018-03-13 Thread Raúl Vidal
I attach the error_log file with debug logging mode. The CUPS notifier
closes after a while. That might be the problem. When I open the KDE
printer dialog, the D-BUS system bus dumps these messages calling the
Notifier method. Opening the printing dialog from LibreOffice writer
does not print anything, not even in the session bus:

[Bug 1598300] Re: CUPS web interface stops responding after a while

2018-03-13 Thread Raúl Vidal
I am on Kubuntu 17.10 and I am suffering this bug. I do not have the web
interface enabled but I have an IPP printer. I have attached the cupsd.conf on
my system.
I think this is the relevant part of the file:

# Only listen for connections from the local machine.
Listen localhost:631
Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock

# Show shared printers on the local network.
Browsing Off
BrowseLocalProtocols dnssd

[Bug 1729066] [NEW] [Kubuntu 17.10 / PPA daily] QtQr crashes while saving to PNG

2017-10-31 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/qtqr", line 509, in saveCode
if not fn.toLower().endsWith(u".png") \
AttributeError: 'tuple' object has no attribute 'toLower'

While saving a QR code with the following WiFi Network information:

SSID: EXAMPLE_SSID
PASSWORD: 714f15160af9de64ce5f2835b191c1e226418f01baa84011c1b1075201bdf2
Encryption: WPA/WPA2
Pixel size: 5
Protection level: Minimum/Lowest
Margin size: 6

I have tested with the version of QtQr in Kubuntu repositories and with the
latest version from the daily PPA. The same crash is reported.
Additionally, QtQr writes a file every time I introduce a character of any of
the fields of the WiFi network (SSID, PASSWORD, encryption). The directory
where I launch QtQr from has the following files:

714f15160af9de64ce5f2835b191c1e226418f01baa84011c1b1075201bdf2.png EXAMPLE.png

E.png
EXAMPLE_S.png EXAMPLE_SS.png EXAMP.png
EXAMPLE_.png
EXAMPLE_SSID.png EXAMPL.png EXA.png

I copied and pasted the password string, so maybe that is why it has
generated extra files.

[Bug 1727476] [NEW] akregator crashes if menu bar style is not in the application

2017-10-25 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

As the bug title says, configuring KDE to put application menus with other
option different than in the application makes Akregator crash.
I had the button in title style and Akregator kept crashing. After searching on
the Internet I found this thread in Arch Linux forums:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=226889

Changing to the menu bar style "in application" as suggested in that
forum solves the issue.

[Bug 1720582] [NEW] gvfs-backends not installed with GIMP

2017-09-30 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

I am running Kubuntu 17.04.
I installed the GIMP.
I tried to use the menu item "Open from location", but it did not work.
After searching on the Internet, I found out that the GIMP needs a GVFS backend
in order to fetch an image from the web. I installed gvfs-backends. Now the
menu item "Open from location" works.

Problem: A feature from the GIMP does not work by default.
How to solve: install an additional package.
Ideal use case: user only needs to install the GIMP.

Could it be possible to add gvfs-backends as a hard dependency of the
GIMP?

[Bug 1667963] Re: QuiteRSS AppArmor profile

2017-09-30 Thread Raúl Vidal
I have removed the proposal for merging, as I want to check the profile
with KDE 5 on Kubuntu 17.04. I am removing also the patch tag as
suggested by the bot, because it is not a patch to anything available
already in the repository.

[Bug 1674760] Re: plasma-discover crashed with SIGSEGV in QQuickScrollBarAttached::qt_metacall()

I also confirm this bug. I am affected by it. But not only does Plasma Discover
crash upon closing.
SMPlayer also crashes.
I am running Kubuntu 17.04 with the backported packages.

[Bug 1710687] Re: gvfs-backends not installed with GIMP

2017-08-14 Thread Raúl Vidal
All right. It actually works with gvfs-backends package installed, but
it refuses to download images using HTTPS. I have to use plain HTTP to
download the image.

But then again, not having gvfs-backends installed by default adds an
extra step to having GIMP working with all features.

[Bug 1710687] [NEW] gvfs-backends not installed with GIMP

2017-08-14 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu does not ship with GIMP.
GIMP package has gvfs-backends as a suggestion:
Suggests: gimp-help-en | gimp-help, gimp-data-extras, gvfs-backends, libasound2

gvfs-backends is needed for the «Open Location» functionality.

I installed that package and rebooted the computer, but still I can't open an
image (tried with
https://kubuntu.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/9c1b/zesty_banner.png).
I keep getting this message (spanish locale):
La apertura de
«https://kubuntu.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/9c1b/zesty_banner.png» ha
fallado:
No se pudo abrir
«https://kubuntu.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/9c1b/zesty_banner.png» para
lectura: No existe el archivo o el directorio

What else do I need?
I do not see anything in logs.
/usr/lib/gvfs/ contains all the binaries, including gvfsd-http.

[Bug 1386005] Re: Password not accepted graphical boot for encrypted root system

2017-04-29 Thread Raúl Vidal
I have been hit by this bug after transforming Ubuntu 16.10 into Kubuntu
16.10 trough tasksel utility. I removed ubuntu-desktop and ubuntu-usb.
Then installed kubuntu-desktop.

Fuck you. More than 2 years after and still you haven't fixed it. I have
spent already a day with this shit.

Its not the first time LUKS is problematic at boot. Long time ago I
reported a bug which needed to incorporate decryption modules in the
initramfs. It was AESNI module.

Now this, with a lot of reports and still is not fixed.

[Bug 1670394] Re: [Satellite Pro P200, Realtek ALC268, Black Headphone Out, Front] No sound at all

2017-03-06 Thread Raúl Vidal
If you add options snd-hda-intel model=inv-dmic option to
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, works.

There seems to be a problem with this laptop. I never needed to add that
option to get the headphone jack to work. But on bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1224099 a
user reported that using that option in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS fixed the
problem. But as I said, I didn't need it before. Whatever changes do to
the kernel, they broke something in the driver.

[Bug 1670394] [NEW] [Satellite Pro P200, Realtek ALC268, Black Headphone Out, Front] No sound at all

2017-03-06 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

No sound. Anything. PulseAudio Volume Control shows sound going through it
(sound level bar moves), but jack does not output anything.
Old bugs which had the same problem with the same laptop:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1360641
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1224099

These bugs occurred on old kernel versions from 12.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS.
The laptop I'm working on is on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04.5
LTS which was updated from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS itself.

I have tried running the LiveCDs of Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and Ubuntu 16.10 and
still the laptop has no sound in the headphones jack.
So, the issue remains unsolved with newer kernels or in a fresh environment.

[Bug 1670193] [NEW] No audio on headphone ubuntu 16.04

2017-03-05 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to Ubuntu 16.04 and I lost audio on the
headphone jack. Speakers work fine though.
I installed pavucontrol and that program has a sound level bar which moves
while playing sound with the headphones plugged in. So, PulseAudio effectively
detects sound. In addition to the files attached by the ubuntu-bug program I
have attached the output of alsa-info.sh.

[Bug 1664320] [NEW] xbrlapi loopback interface abuse

2017-02-13 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

Xbrlapi creates new TCP connections in port 4101 at loopback interface. These
are closed instantly because there is no service listening at 4101 on the lo
interface.
Xbrlapi should not do that if there is no braille device.

[Bug 1652834] [NEW] Evolution RSS 0.3.95 camel crash

2016-12-27 Thread Raúl Vidal
Public bug reported:

I installed evolution-rss plugin and Evolution started to crash whenever
I wanted to visualize an RSS feed.

The Evolution installation is the one from Ubuntu 16.10, the same for
evolution-rss plugin.

On previous executions I also got this message: camel-CRITICAL **:
camel_data_cache_add: assertion 'CAMEL_IS_DATA_CACHE (cdc)' failed

And there are some errors while parsing RSS feeds:
xml_parse_sux(): ERROR:%s
xml_parse_sux(): ERROR:%s
xml_parse_sux(): ERROR:%s
xml_parse_sux(): ERROR:%s

The renderer is GtkHTML. There is no possibility to use a different one
with the package provided by Ubuntu repositories.

The backtrace of the execution is:

[Bug 1576843] [NEW] README.Debian needs clarification

2016-04-29 Thread Raúl Soriano
Public bug reported:

Part of the README.Debian says:

vim
---

Make sure the vim-nox package is installed, and insert the following lines in
your ~/.vimrc file:

python from powerline.vim import setup as powerline_setup
  python powerline_setup()
  python del powerline_setup

But since vim is now using python3 (at least in Xenial), those lines
don't work, generating error E319.

I've wasted an entire afternoon trying to figure out how to make it
work, until in a wild guess I replaced "python" with "python3" and it
worked.

I couldn't find any place with references to python3 in vimrc, so it was
a lucky guess, and it should be documented.

After entering the password encryption sends me the Emergency mode. Here
you enter "systemctl default" and can enter the desktop Ubuntu 15.10.
Now I'm trying to fix the bug with "sudo dpkg --configure -a"

While this works as a workaround, it isn't a solution, since any new
installation would face the same problem.

A proper solution is to fix the current package or update it to a newer
calibre version (like backporting the package from 15.10), but apparently
nobody cares about bugs in non-lts Ubuntu releases.

[Bug 1494481] [NEW] linux-image Suggests cripples old kernel cleanup

2015-09-10 Thread Raúl Benencia
Public bug reported:

Old kernels are not being autoremoved in spite of being marked auto and
not being in APT::NeverAutoRemove. Debugging with the pkgAutoRemove
"true"; option of APT I can see lines like this:

[Bug 1449608] [NEW] Cannot add new epubs to a library

2015-04-28 Thread Raúl Soriano
Public bug reported:

While trying to add a new epub to my collection an error window appears.

Googling this, the same error was reported in archlinux
(https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/44134), but apparently was fixed in a
subsequent update.

There are new available releases for calibre, so maybe one of them has a
fix for this.

[Bug 1409200] [NEW] HWCursor artifacts on custom cursors using Intel driver

2015-01-09 Thread Raúl Arellano
Public bug reported:

In fresh install (even in live cd) when accessing some app / website
that use custom cursor, it wil artifact, the cursor turns to a box with
trailers pointers and diferent background.

Example: when visiting http://foro.elhacker.net (spanish forum)
http://postimg.org/image/wlza8fbvd/

Also happens when using VirtualBox with Windows (see Attachment)
http://postimg.org/image/8zzsr4cen/
(Virtual Machine downloaded from
https://www.modern.ie/es-es/virtualization-tools - Windows 7 with IE 9)

A workarround is disable HWCursor using xorg.conf or xorg.conf.d files.
But that wont let me do multiple monitor with two gpu's (discrete gpu
and intel igpu)

Hardware:
Asus P8H77-M PRO

[Bug 1383184] Re: Atheros Qualcomm Killer N1525 Wireless-AC [168c:003e] not supported

2014-11-14 Thread Raúl Vidal
This card (N1525) is also used in MSI GS60 laptops. But knowing that the
killer E2200 didn't make it into the kernel until 2013, I think it can
take a long time to get the N1525 working under Linux.

Meanwhile, you could buy an Intel card or another Atheros card which already
works under Linux. At least you know that your laptop antennas are prepared for
working under 5 Ghz band, if you need.
It's something cheap, $50 at most.

Just installed the package from Utopic and it fixes this problem, a

[Bug 1314570] [NEW] xsane: handle.cpp:788: std::streamsize sane::handle::start(): Assertion «!work_in_progress_» failed.

2014-04-30 Thread Raúl Quiles García
Public bug reported:

The error appears after a second try of Preview or scan with an EPSON DS-510
and Xsane 0.998. At the first try, Xsane returns this message:
It has not been possible to start the scaner. I/O device error.
After the second try, Xsane breaks and the terminal returns this missage:
xsane: handle.cpp:788: std::streamsize sane::handle::start(): Assertion
«!work_in_progress_» failed.
I've tested the frontend provided by the EPSON driver: imagescan, and it works
right, and scaning through the command interface works right too:
scanimage -d
imagescan:usb:esci:/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:0b.0/usb1/1-1/1-1:1.0
--format=tiff output.tif
For this reason, I've rejected a problem in the backend.
Installing the previous version of Xsane (0.996) from the Ubuntu 10.04 packages
it works right too.

Please, if you need additional information let me know.

[Bug 928792] [NEW] SDL_mixer.pc missing, making it impossible to use autoconf to compile software that depends on SDL_mixer.

2012-02-08 Thread Raúl Santos
Public bug reported:

Running

`pkg-config --libs SDL_mixer`

returns

Package SDL_mixer was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `SDL_mixer.pc'

I checked and there's no SDL_mixer.pc where it should be:

[Bug 845855] Re: xvnc4viewer assert failure: *** stack smashing detected ***: vncviewer terminated

2011-12-21 Thread Raúl Porcel
Hi, for those in need of a working VNC, may want to have a look at
tigervnc while this bug gets fixed... http://www.tigervnc.com/ Tigervnc
is simply a fork of RealVNC.

In fact if you google, you may even find a debian/ubuntu repository,
anyway on their webpage there are binaries available...

[Bug 683906] Re: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()

2011-03-17 Thread Raúl Soriano
Instead of building the 2.22 release, I ended using the one from
https://launchpad.net/~transmissionbt/+archive/ppa.

It's been running for 4 days in a row without crashing, while the 2.13
crashed in 2 days.

The 2.13 from maverick has been running more stable since a week ago or
so, maybe it's not transmission-daemon fault, but a library somewhere
that got updated/fixed. It's been running along the 2.22 (in different
systems) since the weekend.

So maybe it's fixed?

Raúl, I appreciate the Valgrind log very much; however, it doesn't seem

how to proceed from here. Do you have any suggestions what I should to
 do trigger this error?

I've been trying to trigger it every now and then, but the crash never
happens when it's running with valgrind or gdb. That makes me suspect is
timing related, and being globally slower it isn't triggered, but I have
no idea what is it. I've tried everything i could think, except a newer
version.

Also, if you try testing on a prerelease of 11.04, does Transmission
2.1x still crash with this error for you?

I was going to test that on a virtual machine, but had no time since my
last message. If nothing happens again, I may be able to do it this
weekend. Given enough time, I'll test 2.22 and/or cvs too.

[Bug 683906] Re: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()

2011-01-19 Thread Raúl Soriano
After five days and a half running with valgrind without a problem, I
stopped it, rebooted the system and started it normally. Then, on first
access it failed again. In the attached screenshot it's visible that the
web interface is loaded without the transfer list (there should be at
least 3 torrent's running), the browser is redirected to
http://server/transmission/web/#cancel; and then shows a Connection
failed message.

Both Dismiss and Details buttons aren't usefull, when one of them is
pressed the browser pops a dialog saying it couldn't connect to the
server.

Trying to reload the page doesn't help, since the daemon isn't running
any more.

Is there anything else I can try?

[Bug 683906] Re: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()

2011-01-16 Thread Raúl Soriano
I'ts been running with valgrind for a day and a half without crashing
(still running).

While this test runs, I'm testing another pc without, with same
distribution, version, configuration and torrents, and it crashed 2
times. Both crashes happened while trying to connect to the web
interface from a remote host. In the first one, the browser showed
transmission web interface, without the torrents list, and a popup
saying the server stopped responding. For the second one, I checked that
transmission was running, then tried to connect and the browser couldn't
get a response from the server, checked again and transmission had
crashed.

I've tried connecting and reconnecting a lot to the one running with
valgrind without problems.

The pc where I run it usually, and where valgrind is used, isn't very
fast, and with valgrind it's over 80% cpu usage most of the time and
becomes very slow sometimes, so I've been thinking it can be related to
a timer somewhere (perhaps in the remote management) that being so slow
doesn't trigger the crash. May this be possible?

I'll try to get a valgrind log, but it may take some time (I have
nothing to download right now).

Since you ask for suggestions, I think transmission-daemon should log
it's activities, like most services do.

Whenever I have a problem with a service, my first step to fix it is to
look at /var/log/servicename.log, but in this case there is nothing to
see. Does it fail on completion? Is it on data verification? Or maybe it
fails while I try to log on (web)? If there were a log, at least we
could see what was the last thing that worked before the fail. Maybe
even log some info about the fail.
