Without xorg.conf: screen blurred, broken cursor. System hangs after login (before gnome is fully loaded). 2. Xorg.conf with XaaNoImageWriteRect only: normal quality, broken cursor. 3. Xorg.conf with XaaNoImageWriteRect and SWCursor (haven't tried that one before): normal quality, cursor working. * I was trying with restarting X at first, but each time I log out and restarted X (ctrl+alt+backspace) - no matter the setting (1, 2 or 3) - resolution breaks. I get 1024x576 instead of 1024x600 and wrong viewport size (only 2/3 screen visible). Proper resolution works for the first login only. [Bug 236116] Re: new upstream 2.22.2 release
I agree this is an improvement over 2.22.1.1, but storing all files with autodownload was default behavior since I've been using epiphany (2.12 I guess) and it was actually a killer feature for me... For "downloading" all html files - I can have beagle doing something like that, but storing everything else I viewed once is just the only way to have complete history/index of browsing. Storage is not a big issue anymore - my download folder holds 1.6GB of files, although I cleaned it some time ago. This is not my decision, whether it should be improved before SRU or not. [Bug 236116] Re: new upstream 2.22.2 release
#1 - Now it respects the setting (whether to prompt or to download/open) and it opens files, but if they are open, they don't get downloaded into the directory set in preferences, they go into /tmp instead. Just some random URLs: http://www.pdf-tools.com/public/downloads/whitepapers/whitepaper-pdfprimer.pdf http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/epiphany/2.22/epiphany-2.22.0.tar.bz2 I would expect it to work as it did in 2.20.x and before: to automatically "download AND open files": if proper helper app is found, the file is both open and saved in the directory set in the preferences. All files without helper apps (like Mac OS version here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html) just prompted to save file as, couldn't find any case where file is automatically downloaded without prompt or being open (there was either prompt, file chooser without prompt or warning that files are dangerous). #2 - Deleting passwords works fine. Windows (for example OpenOffice.org, F-Spot) closed while maximized are not maximized and they extend to the next viewport to the right (several pixels, but they are recognized as present on this other viewport). The problem: When I'm on the first viewport, desktop switcher shows the contents of three viewports only (1,2,3). When I'm on the fourth viewport, desktop switcher shows the contents of three viewports only (2,3,4). Now, if I move to viewport 2 from 1, switcher shows (1,2,3), from 2 to 3 it shows everything (1,2,3,4), from 3 to 4 it shows (2,3,4). On the way back from 4 to 1 all viewports are visible on viewport 2. I can provide more info if necessary. I downloaded a .po file from Rosetta and some strings including "Search Folders" are translated into Polish as "vFolder". However, in evolution all strings containing "search folders" are left in English (in German locale they are translated). Also "retrieving POP summary" is still in English (both Polish and German). The same for "expunging deleted messages" (at least in Polish). I'm sorry, but I don't have time to take part in the translation process. I reported this bug, because it seemed that some strings translated in earlier versions got lost in the new version. [Bug 54941] Re: random crashes
I can't separate these problems into different issues, as I don't really know if it's one or more causes for the crash. I have evolution-dbg and evolution-data-server-dbg installed. I would like to investigate it better, as my backtrace attempts so far were unsuccessful... If I run "gdb evolution" it seems that it doesn't load debug symbols, so it seems that the better way is to start evolution and attach it in gdb? It seems that it loads symbols then. If I use bogofilter (manual mail filter configuartion) and spamassassin (plugin), do I need debug symbols for them too? I kept running (and restarting) evolution in gdb this afternoon (with one crash, but backtrace was the same as provided, so nothing to add), but I'm still learning how to use it and many times all I got was "thread exited" and similar... I'm aware how weak evidence I present here, but there is something wrong. Is it possible it's something else causing these crashes? [Bug 54941] random crashes
Public bug reported: Concerns dapper evolution (2.6.1). I'm sorry for this vague bug report, but evolution crashes so often and I can't notice any patterns, so I decided that it's time to pass it on to people who can read backtrace logs. I went through some "evolution crashes" bugs on gnome bugzilla, but no hints there and there is simply too many logs... I will be happy to provide more testing if necessary. In general evolution usually crashes when I reply or compose new message. After clicking "reply" or "new message" evolution just stops responding (nothing happens). It is necessary to kill it manually. Before it can be restarted evolution-data-server needs to be killed too. I have several thousand emails grouped in several folders and some search folders, but this is still far from heavy load (comparing to some numbers in bug reports/mailing lists). I use beagle (0.2.7 compiled from edgy sources, but it was the same with dapper 0.2.6). ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- random crashes https://launchpad.net/bugs/54941 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

(On the other hand it would be equally difficult for an unexperienced user to add opengl screensavers if they were disabled by default).
