[Bug 570146] [NEW] localization not complete?

2010-04-26 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gbrainy

With Polish locale sometimes some questions, sometimes some answers are
translated, so it is sometimes difficult to guess which words (Polish or
English) should be entered. It adds unnecessary complexity to the
puzzles. I don't know if it's just not completely translated or there is
another problem with the languages mixed.

Perhaps it should be possible to switch languages in preferences?

[Bug 311173] [NEW] mail-notification crashes with segmentation fault if Gmail inbox is set

[Bug 182778] Re: incorrect screen detection [openchrome]

2008-10-27 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Running with XaaNoImageWriteRect and svn599 packages I get correct
resolution only after system startup. If I log out, resolution is
broken.

And this is what I found, when I restarted X (X started with wrong resolution):
Oct 27 08:25:40 2133 kernel: [ 340.356792] Xorg[5166]: segfault at 0 ip

[Bug 273775] Re: intrepid can't start with via vn896 vga

2008-10-26 Thread Rafał Próchniak
I have xserver-xorg-core 2:1.5.2-2ubuntu3 (and I had it before I
reported, only hal was upgraded today)

Just to make sure, I made the following: moved all xorg.conf and xorg
log files, dpkg-reconfigured xserver-xorg-core and rebooted*,
introducing changes one at a time (all the time using your packages with
openchrome 599 revision):

1. Without xorg.conf: screen blurred, broken cursor. System hangs after
login (before gnome is fully loaded).

2. Xorg.conf with XaaNoImageWriteRect only: normal quality, broken
cursor.

3. Xorg.conf with XaaNoImageWriteRect and SWCursor (haven't tried that
one before): normal quality, cursor working.

* I was trying with restarting X at first, but each time I log out and
restarted X (ctrl+alt+backspace) - no matter the setting (1, 2 or 3) -
resolution breaks. I get 1024x576 instead of 1024x600 and wrong viewport
size (only 2/3 screen visible). Proper resolution works for the first
login only. This is the reason I tried with some modes set last time - I
logged out with XaaNoImageWriteRect to see proper quality but wrong
resolution...

+ This is still an issue in Hardy (June, 6th)

- After January 29th update, Polish translation is broken in Inkscape
+ Some examples:
+ "Inkscape preferences" - "Pokaz slajdów Sodipodi" (-> "Sodipodi slide show")

- My favorite example:
- "Inkscape preferences" - "Pokaz slajdów Sodipodi" (-> "Sodipodi slide show")
-
- Translation imported directly from Rosetta is ok.

[Bug 236116] Re: new upstream 2.22.2 release

2008-06-06 Thread Rafał Próchniak
I agree this is an improvement over 2.22.1.1, but storing all files with
autodownload was default behavior since I've been using epiphany (2.12 I
guess) and it was actually a killer feature for me...

For "downloading" all html files - I can have beagle doing something
like that, but storing everything else I viewed once is just the only
way to have complete history/index of browsing. Storage is not a big
issue anymore - my download folder holds 1.6GB of files, although I
cleaned it some time ago.

This is not my decision, whether it should be improved before SRU or
not. If not, I'm sure I'll file a bug on it.

[Bug 236116] Re: new upstream 2.22.2 release

2008-06-05 Thread Rafał Próchniak
#1 - Now it respects the setting (whether to prompt or to download/open)
and it opens files, but if they are open, they don't get downloaded into
the directory set in preferences, they go into /tmp instead.

Just some random URLs:
http://www.pdf-tools.com/public/downloads/whitepapers/whitepaper-pdfprimer.pdf
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/epiphany/2.22/epiphany-2.22.0.tar.bz2

I would expect it to work as it did in 2.20.x and before: to
automatically "download AND open files": if proper helper app is found,
the file is both open and saved in the directory set in the preferences.

All files without helper apps (like Mac OS version here:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html) just prompted to save
file as, couldn't find any case where file is automatically downloaded
without prompt or being open (there was either prompt, file chooser
without prompt or warning that files are dangerous).

#2 - Deleting passwords works fine.

I have several extensions enabled (I disabled all of them to test #1,
didn't change anything).

#1 Epiphany 2.22.1.1 automatically downloads files but doesn't open any helper
apps. In 2.22.2 it ignores the setting and always prompts to save or open.
#2 Deleting passwords works fine in 2.22.1.1, so this looks like a regression.

[Bug 189257] [NEW] window placement problems with compiz

2008-02-05 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Gutsy (updated as of February 7th, 2008), compiz from Ubuntu repositories
Relevant (I hope) compiz settings:
Workarounds on: all but Legacy Fullscreen Support (disabled or otherwise F-Spot
doesn't work in fullscreen)
Windows Placement: different, doesn't matter (checked different settings: with
or without workarounds, smart or not)

Problems concern mostly maximized windows. Metacity behaves as expected
(maximized windows are remembered as maximized):

1. Windows (for example OpenOffice.org, F-Spot) closed while maximized
are not maximized and they extend to the next viewport to the right
(several pixels, but they are recognized as present on this other
viewport). Enabling "Legacy Fullscreen Support" fixes this issue.

2. PDF documents (in evince) first open maximized to blink after
fraction of a second and reduce in size to more less quarter screen
size. With "centered" placement some documents open in maximized size
but with top left corner centered (with half window offscreen).
Disabling Workarounds doesn't help.

Is there anything I could add to this report?

[Bug 133037] Re: rss feed empty in firefox and other mozilla-based apps

2007-08-17 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Well, I actually use epiphany, and as of this bug report it didn't work there.
It does today...
I encountered it first in Liferea, where this feed still doesn't work.

There's also an atom feed there, showing the same strange
epiphany/firefox behavior.

[Bug 133037] rss feed empty in firefox and other mozilla-based apps

2007-08-16 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Feisty, up to date (16/08)

I have a problem with one feed so far, but because it works in other
rss-reading software (safari, bloglines for example), this may happen
with other feeds too.

Feed's address: http://kultura20.blog.polityka.pl/?feed=rss2

It doesn't work in firefox and liferea.

[Bug 108627] outermost viewports aren't displayed in desktop switcher with compiz

2007-04-21 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

[I'm not sure about the package: it might be compiz as well, or gtk-
window-decorator]

Feisty, 32bit, installed from daily build at around herd5, upgraded as
of 21.04, nvidia-glx-new, desktop-effects enabled

The issue is quite strange, I couldn't find any bug report on it which
makes me suspect it's not a common bug...

I'm aware of the diffrence between viewports/virtual desktops. My compiz
settings are: number_of_desktops=1, vsize=1, hsize=4, using cube.

The problem:

When I'm on the first viewport, desktop switcher shows the contents of
three viewports only (1,2,3).

When I'm on the fourth viewport, desktop switcher shows the contents of
three viewports only (2,3,4).

Now, if I move to viewport 2 from 1, switcher shows (1,2,3), from 2 to 3
it shows everything (1,2,3,4), from 3 to 4 it shows (2,3,4). On the way
back from 4 to 1 all viewports are visible on viewport 2.

I can provide more info if necessary.

[Bug 103295] Re: Beagle doesn't index Liferea 1.2 [Feisty] feed items

2007-04-16 Thread Rafał Próchniak
I created a .liferea symlink to .liferea_1.2 folder and it works now, so
it looks like a bug. However, I'm not sure whether it's beagle that

[Bug 24001] Re: Polish translation missing (Breezy)

2006-12-12 Thread Rafał Próchniak
I downloaded a .po file from Rosetta and some strings including "Search
Folders" are translated into Polish as "vFolder".

However, in evolution all strings containing "search folders" are left
in English (in German locale they are translated). Also "retrieving POP
summary" is still in English (both Polish and German). The same for
"expunging deleted messages" (at least in Polish).

I'm sorry, but I don't have time to take part in the translation
process. I reported this bug, because it seemed that some strings
translated in earlier versions got lost in the new version. As I wrote
in my original report, I was not sure whether this was Evolution or
language pack issue.

However, what you describe works for dapper. The problem is not for the

* create a category "foo"
* add four bookmarks to it
* rename it from the bookmark editor to "bar"
* close the bookmark editor
* right click on the current browsed page and add it to the new category
* open the bookmark editor

There are four bookmarks under "portale" topic. Three of them (BBC,
Gazeta and Onet) were added, when the name of the topic was "news". One

know if it's one or more causes for the crash.

I have evolution-dbg and evolution-data-server-dbg installed.

I would like to investigate it better, as my backtrace attempts so far
were unsuccessful...

If I run "gdb evolution" it seems that it doesn't load debug symbols, so
it seems that the better way is to start evolution and attach it in gdb?
It seems that it loads symbols then. If I use bogofilter (manual mail
filter configuartion) and spamassassin (plugin), do I need debug symbols
for them too? I kept running (and restarting) evolution in gdb this
afternoon (with one crash, but backtrace was the same as provided, so
nothing to add), but I'm still learning how to use it and many times all
I got was "thread exited" and similar...

I'm aware how weak evidence I present here, but there is something
wrong. Is it possible it's something else causing these crashes? Maybe I
should look somewhere else?

quit gdb it started responding again.

[Bug 54941] random crashes

2006-08-02 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Public bug reported:

Concerns dapper evolution (2.6.1).

I'm sorry for this vague bug report, but evolution crashes so often and
I can't notice any patterns, so I decided that it's time to pass it on
to people who can read backtrace logs. I went through some "evolution
crashes" bugs on gnome bugzilla, but no hints there and there is simply
too many logs... I will be happy to provide more testing if necessary.

In general evolution usually crashes when I reply or compose new
message. After clicking "reply" or "new message" evolution just stops
responding (nothing happens). It is necessary to kill it manually.
Before it can be restarted evolution-data-server needs to be killed too.

I have several thousand emails grouped in several folders and some
search folders, but this is still far from heavy load (comparing to some
numbers in bug reports/mailing lists).

I use beagle (0.2.7 compiled from edgy sources, but it was the same with
dapper 0.2.6).

[Bug 53667] wrong link to extensions and themes

2006-07-21 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-firefox-locale-pl

Links from tools -> extensions (get more extenstions) and tools ->
themes (get more themes) lead to update.mozilla.org instead of
addons.mozilla.org

Meanwhile Firefox suggests it's a problem with too many redirects and
cookie settings which is even more confusing.

[Bug 24001] Re: Polish translation missing (Breezy)

2006-07-21 Thread Rafał Próchniak
To some extent. Generally there are more translations now, but still some
annoying things are missing, and I couldn't really find them in .po files
downloaded from rosetta (but I'm not too proficient with those):
1. "Search Folders" everywhere
2. "Retrieving pop summary" (.mo file shows translated string)

I've tried German locale just to compare with Polish: "search folders"
are translated, while "retrieving pop summary" is left in English.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

Use a page with many tooltips (like Ubuntu forums). Move mouse over a
link as far right as available. Tooltip expands to the right, and part
of it moves offscreen becoming unreadable.

Regular application tooltips exand to the left in similar cases.

[Bug 49441] depends on xscreensaver-gl

2006-06-12 Thread Rafał Próchniak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

As dapper has no option to disable single xscreensaver hacks, the only
way to disable opengl screensavers is to remove xscreensaver-gl package.
This package removes ubuntu-desktop, which is undesirable.

In my opninion this "breaks" defualt install on non-accelerated machines
(most?), especially on laptops.

And also it's very difficult for an unexperienced user to find a
solution. (On the other hand it would be equally difficult for an
unexperienced user to add opengl screensavers if they were disabled by
default).

So, if you have no hardware opengl (like SiS graphics - many laptops use this)
you are left with options like:
- removing ubuntu-desktop
- burning CPU fan
- blank screen
- single screensaver
