Re: [Bug 293672] Re: restricted nvidia 177 driver install makes GUI Crash at reboot

2008-11-07 Thread Rainvibe
I did not make any modifications to xorg.conf file and all files attached
are as is after resetting to standard config after the driver install
failed. I figured the .old file might be helpful to.

Thanks verry much

[Bug 262074] Re: nvidia driver fail to load in ibex

2008-11-04 Thread Rainvibe
Ubuntu 8.10 Final, Dell XPS 420 with PEG NVIDIA 8800GTX loads perfect
with default config but only with default config. Enabling the 177
recommended driver makes the GUI crash at reboot mentioning nvidia
device (o,o,o) not found. Tried to edit the xorg.conf in single user
text mode only, didn't work, tried to install .sh driver from NVIDIA
don't work either, Ihave to reload generic file. When I look at the
xorg.conf file it only lists generic info like "configured device" or
"configured monitor" etc. nvidia settings is there but empty. I tried
everything I found searching about x server, nvidia, xorg.conf, nothing
seems to make that graphics card work as it was in 8.04.

[Bug 293672] [NEW] restricted nvidia 177 driver install makes GUI Crash at reboot

2008-11-04 Thread Rainvibe
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.10, Dell XPS 420 with PEG NVIDIA 8800GTX loads perfect with
default config but only with default config. Enabling the 177
recommended driver makes the GUI crash at reboot mentioning nvidia
device (o,o,o) not found. Tried to edit the xorg.conf in single user
text mode only, didn't work, tried to install .sh driver from NVIDIA
don't work either. When I look at the xorg.conf file it only lists
generic info like "configured device" or "configured monitor" etc.
nvidia settings is there but empty. I tried everything I found searching
about x server, nvidia, xorg.conf, nothing seems to make that graphics
card work as it was in 8.04.
