[Bug 1900686] Re: Missing files in tex-common caus updmap to fail
After some digging. I found a file /etc/texmf/updmap.cfg and removed it. I also search and purged all packages which put anything in a texmf folder on my system. Subsequently, I could install texlive again. So my current working theory is that the /etc/texmf/updmap.cfg should be removed/replaced during the upgrade. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1900686 Title: Missing files in tex-common caus updmap to fail To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tex-common/+bug/1900686/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The key issue with this bug is that you cannot install texlive on Ubuntu 20.10. texlive -> texlive-base -> tex-common As this is a vital software component for many users, I would suggest to address this issue rather quickly.

[Bug 1712283] Re: Cannot resolve DNS in artful daily
I have the same issue. A couple of month ago we had a similar issue, which could be fixed by "downgrading" the resolver setup for systemd. However, the issue returned a couple of days ago. In general networking works after start up, but stops after a random time period. When I "turn off" the connection and then turn it on again, it works again for some time before it breaks down again. This only affects DNS, as media streams and running connections are not affected. The time interval range from 1-2 minutes up to an hour. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1712283 Title: Cannot resolve DNS in artful daily To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1712283/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1672698] Re: Broken/Missing font rendering in firefox
Hi folks, the solution provided by Georg works. It is definitely roboto-unhinted. I checked that with Youtube and Zenodo which both work now. To disable site-specific fonts is not really a solution, as it ruins the design. However, the browser should automatically use a replacement font. Therefore, this is also an upstream issue. [Bug 1672698] [NEW] Broken/Missing font rendering in firefox
Public bug reported: On some websites,e.g., https://zenodo.org and https://www.youtube.com the text is not visible on the site. However, when selecting all (CTRL-a) and copying the text to an text editor, the proper text is available. Therefore, the text is not rendered or using an strange font without any glyphs in it. I repeated this with the usually not used "Guest Account". Hence it is not an issue with my personal setting. The issue appeared when upgrading to Ubuntu Zesty (17.04). The current Firefox package install is 52.0+build2-0ubuntu0.16.10.1 I will downgrade not to 50.1.0+build2-0ubuntu1 to reexamine the issue. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ui ** Attachment added: "Youtube Screenshot" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672698/+attachment/4837539/+files/Screenshot%20from%202017-03-14%2012-37-30.png ** Tags added: ui -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672698 Title: Broken/Missing font rendering in firefox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1672698/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1628506] Re: Dual monitor - screen flashes and turns black on mouse movement and keyboard input
Finally, I had time to test it with linux 4.8.0-040800.201610022031 amd64 and with the 4.8.0-22 versions. In both cases the problem still exists. However, the content of the black rectangle has changed. It now includes the first line of the console frame buffer (in a slightly distorted way). The bug #1611124 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1611124 might be related, as I get the same error with W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_guc_ver9_14.bin for module i915 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/bxt_guc_ver8_7.bin for module i915 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1628506 Title: Dual monitor - screen flashes and turns black on mouse movement and keyboard input To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1628506/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1222602] Re: [gen3] Bad performance on GMA950 and GMA3150
I have tried the solution from comment #6 and it works. It would be helpful to understand why this works. Digging through the comments it looks like mesa uses not the GPU acceleration when the variable is not set. This looks like a design error in mesa. Maybe mesa developers should be asked about this. However, I have tried gnome-shell (before adding the environment setting) and it worked like a charm indicating that gnome-shell sets this variable on its own or initializes mesa differently. Considering gnome-shell was freaking slow compared to unity in 13.04. there must have been a not so wise change in unity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1222602 Title: [gen3] Bad performance on GMA950 and GMA3150 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/1222602/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1206397] [NEW] Unusable slow UI sidebar, lenses etc
Public bug reported: I have a netbook with a dual core atom CPU and intel graphics (a samsung NC10) with 2 GB RAM. It was working perfectly with Ubuntu 13.04. However, in Ubuntu 13.10 the performance of the UI decreased significantly. If I open the sidebar (moving mouse to the left) and move the mouse over the icons a tool tip appears. In 13.04 this tool tip appears promptly. In 13.10 it can take up to 20 seconds to appear. When then the mouse is moved to the next icon, it happens again. The worst thing I can do is clicking on the lenses icon (top most icon), which then tries to open the lens, which takes ages to open. To be precise, I killed compiz when accidentally when I click on the search. I tried waiting for 20 minutes, but that seams to be not enough time to open the lens. System load during this opening operation is close to 100%. If I try to shutdown the system, and click in the system menu on shutdown a dialog should pop up in the center of the screen. However, this thing takes at least 5-10 minutes to open and be clickable. CPU load is also at 100%. I assume that this might be some bug in the rendering engine. I don't think that it is a problem with software rendering, because such CPU based rendering should be faster than less then 1 frame per second. I would like to help to debug this issue, however, as I am not a compiz and unity developer, I do not have any useful approach available. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: performance -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1206397 Title: Unusable slow UI sidebar, lenses etc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1206397/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 411564] Re: gimp_xcf.py crashed with TypeError in effect()
I have the same error with my inkscape version in karmic alpha 4 and now alpha 5. The problem occurs when using text in drawings and I move away from inkscape to another desktop. Example: I am working on a state chart drawing on desktop 5, while OpenOffice is on desktop 4. So I have to switch between these tow screens. When I switch from 5 to 4 inkscape produces a crash message "" which can be acknowledged and then I can continue. When I clicked away 5-10 messages (which also involves clicking away 5-10 apport report dialogs) inkscape freezes. However, the problem cannot be reproduced easily. Therefore I added my drawing causing the effect. ** Attachment added: "product-state-chart.svg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31362113/product-state-chart.svg -- gimp_xcf.py crashed with TypeError in effect() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411564 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'
I ran in the same problem. Ubuntu 8.04 totem 2.22.1 gstreamer 0.10.18 The process hang when I tried to exit totem while playing a movie. Video stream: DivX MPEG-4 Version 5 512 x 384 Audio stream: MPEG 1 Audio, Layer 3 Stereo 44100 Hz 96 kbps Killing with kill -9 did not work. The played file was a local file on a ext3 formatted drive. IMHO I think the problem is somewhere in the device driver either ext3 or in the block driver itself. However dmesg and all log files do not reveal any additional information. Therefore I assume no detectable crash or error happened. Another possible problem could be associated with the audio or video output. The audio is controlled by pulseaudio on my system and the sound events still worked after totem got into this interruptible state. Therefore I assume the video-output (xv) can also be guilty part. Because it is so hard to reproduce the bug (I just had this problem twice in the last weeks), I guess it is some sort of race condition. The kernel is: Linux helsinki 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux For more information have a look at the lsmod, lspci and xorg.conf Maybe some can come up with a way to reproduce this bug with this information. ** Attachment added: "lsmod, lspci and xorg.conf" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14648699/a -- Totem is 'uninterruptible' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213053 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 149359] Re: Problem with gpg-agent and seahorse
that didn't work. But I found an entry in .gnupg/gpg.conf where the file path for the agent was explicitly set to /tmp/seahorse-4VRcyo/S.gpg- agent This is strange, because I didn't configured that. Or at least I don't know when and how I made that change. Deleting the line with gpg-agent-info=/tmp/seahorse-4VRcyo/S.gpg-agent:12345:1 fixed the problem. -- Problem with gpg-agent and seahorse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149359 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 149359] Problem with gpg-agent and seahorse
Public bug reported: I get the following result when decrypting a message: gpg command line and output: /usr/bin/gpg --charset utf8 --batch --no-tty --status-fd 2 --keyserver-options auto-key-retrieve --keyserver random.sks.keyserver.penguin.de -d --use-agent can't connect to `/tmp/seahorse-4VRcyo/S.gpg-agent': No such file or directory gpg: can't connect to `/tmp/seahorse-4VRcyo/S.gpg-agent': connect failed gpg: can't query passphrase in batch mode gpg: Invalid passphrase; please try again ... gpg: can't query passphrase in batch mode gpg: Invalid passphrase; please try again ... gpg: can't query passphrase in batch mode gpg: encrypted with 2048-bit ELG-E key, ID ADDABA22, created 2004-07-29 "xxx x <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" gpg: public key decryption failed: bad passphrase gpg: encrypted with 4096-bit ELG-E key, ID EDAFBD4C, created 2007-07-10 "v vv <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" gpg: decryption failed: secret key not available The problem seams to be the missing /tmp/seahorse-4VRcyo/S.gpg-agent but a file named /tmp/seahorse-z2o2Db/S.gpg-agent exists. So why does enigmail tries toget the wrong file path? I also tried to close and reopen thunderbird. But that has no effect. ** Affects: enigmail (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Problem with gpg-agent and seahorse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149359 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 84449] Re: Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host.
It works perfectly on my machine now. At least with the above sequence with gst-launch. In rhythmbox, it still doesn't work, but I will wait to investigate this when the final feisty release is out. Also rebuilding the music DB might be helpful :-) -- Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/84449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 84449] Re: Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host.
Jep. Additional I've created a log for a working URI. But it is rather large (247 MB). So I do not add it. Both files look quite similar except for the last 200-300 lines. ** Attachment added: "the requested log" http://librarian.launchpad.net/669/log-B -- Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host. https://launchpad.net/bugs/84449 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 84449] Re: Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host.
I've tested your gst-launch line above with one working file and with one that does not work. Also I activated the verbose feature. The detailed results are in the attached files. Here a quick summary: gst-launch-0.10 --verbose playbin uri=ftp://:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/music/70er/The\ Alan\ Parsons\ Project/The\ Best\ Of\ The\ Alan\ Parsons\ Project/03\ Games\ People\ Play.mp3 Setting pipeline to PAUSED ... /playbin0/decoder/typefind.src: caps = application/x-id3 Pipeline is PREROLLING ... after that, the program stops. I waited several minutes, but nothing happend. In contrast to that, the working file produced the following output: gst-launch-0.10 --verbose playbin uri=ftp://:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/music/KLASSIK/Vivaldi/4\ Jahreszeiten/Frühling\ 1.mp3 Setting pipeline to PAUSED ... /playbin0/decoder/typefind.src: caps = application/x-id3 /playbin0/selector_audio_src0: active-pad = "sink0" Pipeline is PREROLLING ... [...] <= lots of output Pipeline is PREROLLED ... Setting pipeline to PLAYING ... New clock: audioclock0 Hope that helps. Reiner p.s. I surfed the net a little bit about a hang uring prerolling, so far I've found nothing valueable. :-/ ** Attachment added: "complete result" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6423757/gst-launch-0.10%20result -- Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host. https://launchpad.net/bugs/84449 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84449] Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host.
Public bug reported: The problem is somewhat strange. It has something to do with gnome-vfs. Therefore I cannot name one single package. To understand the problem, I explain the setup first, then I want to tell you what I have already tried and if possible, I will add a mp3 file which can be used to reproduce the error. The Setup We use a server in our home, where we store all our data including our music files. The server allows access through samba and ftp (but the problem can be reproduced also with webdav). For the current problem, I used ftp access. On the remote side, I use vsftpd on a ubuntu (dapper). The local machine is running ubuntu 6.10 (edgy). The Problem I can login and browse the remote directory with nautilus, and I can open the property dialog for other files on the server, this includes mp3 files. But for no reason, I cannot do the same thing for all mp3 files. For some files, nautilus tells me to wait and doesn't bring up the property dialog at all. When I try to add the same file to the rhythmbox music database, I get the gstreamer error "failed to change state". Also I cannot open the music files with totem. I've tested gnome-vfs with gnomevfs-ls, gnomevfs-cat and gnomvfs-info. All three work fine on the files, nautilus, totem and rhythmbox have problem with. First I thought that might have something to do with gstreamer, but as the problem can be reproduced not only with some mp3s, but also with ogg files, I guess it has to do something with gnome-vfs. The problem cannot be based on the tool, which created the mp3s(oggs) because files from the same CD, ripped with the same tool, behave differently. Some work, others don't. And the strange thing is, you can repeat it, and always the same files are rejected. It has nothing to do with permissions, user names or groups, because all files are owned by the same user and same group, and all files have the same permissions. The same thing applies to the directories. They are all "rwx" for the music user. I also can copy the files from remote to my local machine (with nautilus). Then I can add them to the music database without any trouble. Hope you have more luck in finding the real error. Don't hessitate to ask me any questions. cu Reiner ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Problem adding mp3s to rhythmbox from a remote host. https://launchpad.net/bugs/84449 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
