[Bug 1074653] [NEW] Problems with Luks and LVM
Public bug reported: I have following configuration (Desktop): (ubuntu64) /dev/sdd2 ext4 - /boot /dev/sdd1 extended /dev/sdd5 LUKS Encryption /dev/mapper/sdd5_crypt LVM2 - /dev/SSD /dev/sdc1 LUKS Encryption /dev/mapper/sdc1_crypt LVM2 - /dev/Private /dev/sdb1 extended /dev/sdb5 LUKS Encryption /dev/mapper/sdb5_crypt LVM2 - /dev/Private /dev/SSD/Homeext4 /dev/SSD/System ext4 /dev/Private/Documents ext4 sdc1_crypt and sdb5_crypt can be unlockt via a derived key from sdd5_crypt. This was always hard to set up under ubuntu especially /etc/crypttab wasn't creating itself. But with the alternat insatller it was possible to set up Linux this way. With the new isntaller in 12.10 it doesn't work anymore. I needed to go back one release and update, but this makes my system Instabil. Once I tried the Fedora Installer, it recognized all of my LUKS Devices and LVMs and displayed them in a way one can understand it. Even easier then the alternate installer in 12.04. The Installer even created /etc/crypttab with # sdb5_crypt UUID=xxx sdd5_crypt luks,keyscript=/lib/cryptsetup/scripts/decrypt_derived which I allways hat to create manually in Ubuntu after the Installation was done. So with 12.10, even if I get the encrypted volumes to work with the installer (thats not easy) the installed Ubuntu afterwards wont start. At least the functionality of the alternate installer for 13.04 would be nice, but even nicer would be an installer as easy as the fedora one for crypt+lvm. I have following configuration (Netbook): (ubuntu32) /dev/sda1 ext4 - /boot /dev/sda2 extended /dev/sda5 LUKS Encryption /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt LVM2 - /dev/netbook /dev/netbook/Systemext4 /dev/netbook/Home ext4 With this configuration I couldn't even unlock the encrypted volume to get to the LVM to mount one of my drives System or Home. This also was set up using the alternate installer and now its not possible to make a clean installation with 12.10 (which I would because upgrade broke my wireless, just a fact on the side). Hopefully this confiuration details can help you reproducing my bugs. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1074653 Title: Problems with Luks and LVM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1074653/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 886555] [NEW] keyboard selection in nautilus buggy
Public bug reported: Normally in nautilus if you search in the window using the keyboard you get the little searchbox on the lower right corner with your preview. Now if you klick up or down on the keyboard or turning the scroll wheel on the mouse the next matching search results will be displayed. If you klick ESC the searchbox will be closed and purged. Now in Ubuntu (but not in other distributions like fedora), if you search with your keyboard you'll get the first matching search result but turning the mouse wheel scrolls the screen and mouse keys move the selection. Thats annoying enough but if you decide you want to search again the searchbox adds your chars instead of replacing them, and also if you want to clear the box using the backspace button like you normaly would do, nautilus just goes up one level. And sometimes the searchbox will only clear if you close the nautilus window and open a new one. Not very user friendly. I encountered this behavior in all my freshly new installed ubuntu 11.10 x86_64 and x86 ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: nautilus search -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886555 Title: keyboard selection in nautilus buggy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/886555/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
