[Bug 2076315] Re: Snapshot failed to work on mipi camera

2024-09-01 Thread Rex Tsai
Need more debug information.

GNOME Snapshot use pipewiredeviceprovider when it's not inside a jail.
The problem can be rephrased as "why pw-dump doesn't give the
v4l2loopback created video device. It seems /usr/bin/snapshot.snapshot
itself already has some problem to support the general video4linux
devices.

[Bug 2069261] Re: NV T400E use wrong nv driver

2024-06-13 Thread Rex Tsai
The support model has been updated. The kernel team has decided to adopt
the Long-term-support (LTS) version, R535, to support the existing card.
Only new cards will be added to the new production branch, R550.

Although the OEM user recommends shipping with R550, the OEM team will
accommodate the implementation in the modealias of the driver and
ubuntu-driver to ship R535 for the NV T400E.

The QA team will test it to identify any issues.

[Bug 1918253] Re: WWAN I XMM 7360 LTE-Advanced (Cat 9) doesn't work [8086:7360]

2021-12-05 Thread Rex Tsai
The modem based on Intel XMM7360 can support both PCI and USB mode, the
HP's UEFI does not support switching the model to USB mode.

The WWAN suspend D state is D2 instead of D3, under windows. The WWAN
under PCI will block suspend-to-idle on Linux.

Canonical CE team planned not to fix this issue. A workaround has been
proposed https://lkml.org/lkml/2021/3/24/489

[Bug 1927925] Re: Massive network problems with I219-V on Thinkpad T14 Gen2 (e1000e)

2021-09-21 Thread Rex Tsai
Hi,

WW38.2'21: Confirmed Intel LAN issue; promoted to LAN engineering. Please see
further details below.
Please verify the issue again with FIA wa.7z, which should be final solution
candidate.

Root cause:

The power management flow on TGL shut down a clock that is required for
exiting from K1 (K1 Is the equivalent of L1 for the proprietary PCIe
like interface between the MAC and the PHY).

Due to missing configuration, the clock request was not asserted
properly which caused a long K1 exit latency which is the reason for the
performance issue.

Solution:

Update the HW MAC initialization flow. Do not gate DMA clock from the
modPHY block. Keeping this clock will prevent drop packets sent in burst
mode on the Kumaran interface.

2021-08-14 Thread Rex Tsai
@Shengyao Xue,
1.) Intel suspected that this Lenovo issue might be related to this issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/somerville/+bug/1933807 on Intel vPro system. Lenovo
did mention that vPro systems have the same issue.

2.) Intel SW debug engineer is adding some debug prints to the I219
runtime power managements callbacks to see if they are getting called,
even though they shouldn’t. I will share patches once it is available.

3.) Can you please try below and see whether you can reproduce the
issue? Please also pay attention if the system cannot enter Suspend to
Idle after applying this.

echo on > /sys/bus/pci/devices/\:00\:16.0/power/control
Explanation, taken from
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/ABI/testing/sysfs-devices-power:

What: /sys/devices/.../power/control
Date: January 2009

Contact: Rafael J. Wysocki r...@rjwysocki.net

Description:

   The /sys/devices/.../power/control attribute allows the
user

space to control the run-time power management of the
device.

All devices have one of the following two values for the

   power/control file:

+ "auto\n" to allow the device to be power managed at run
time;

   + "on\n" to prevent the device from being power managed;

The default for all devices is "auto", which means that
they may

be subject to automatic power management, depending on
their

drivers. Changing this attribute to "on" prevents the
driver

from power managing the device at run time. Doing that
while

the device is suspended causes it to be woken up.

[Bug 1794219] Re: [MIR] ledmon

2021-05-25 Thread Rex Tsai
The ledmon have the different partners of blinking helps the user to
understand the status of the disk and raid, it's critical feature for
user experience.

I would suggest to include ledmon to offer better support. ledmon is
been preloaded on workstations of major OEMs in the factory image, and
it will be a key feature for enterprise users who may purchase a support
service.
