[Bug 946945] Re: Strange: dia-gnome-gnome-gnome: package not found
This issue/bug (which was reported more than 4 years ago, on March 2012) is happening to me today (17 November 2016) on Ubuntu MATE 16.04: in the "Ubuntu Software Center", when I search for "Dia", I get, as the first result, "Dia - Edit your Diagrams" (as it should). When I click on the "Dia" icon, it reveals the "More Info" button (also as it should). However, when I click on the "More Info" button, I get the following error message: " Not found There isn’t a software package called “dia-gnome-gnome-gnome-gnome” in your current software sources. [Bug 1547762] [NEW] "SSL Protocol Error" in Chromium for several Google web sites after installing Ubuntu Security Updates for libnss3
Public bug reported: Scenario: Laptop computer running Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS (64-bit) ("Precise Pangolin") Issue: In the Chromium web browser - "Version 37.0.2062.120 Ubuntu 12.04 (281580) (64-bit)" - after having installed the Ubuntu security Updates that were available on Feb 18, 2016, I get the following error while trying to access some Google Web sites (e.g. https://www.google.com ; https://plus.google.com/ ; https://hangouts.google.com/ ): SSL connection error Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have. [Bug 1212856] Re: Kernel Panic - Not syncing : Fatal Exception in Interrupt in 12.04.2 LTS (64-bit) in a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop
I'm afraid this kernel panic happened today (14-oct-2013) again with my current kernel (3.5.0-41-generic #64~precise1-Ubuntu SMP) . As suggested, I also tried to install the latest Mainline kernel - following the instructions found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=showredirect=KernelMainlineBuilds - with the kernel available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v3.12-rc5-saucy/ namely with the files linux- headers-3.12.0-031200rc5-generic_3.12.0-031200rc5.201310131952_amd64.deb and linux- image-3.12.0-031200rc5-generic_3.12.0-031200rc5.201310131952_amd64.deb but I got the following errors when running sudo dpkg -i *.deb: [...] Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.12.0-031200rc5-generic (x86_64) Consult /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-304-updates/304.88/build/make.log for more information. Error! [Bug 1212856] Re: Kernel Panic - Not syncing : Fatal Exception in Interrupt in 12.04.2 LTS (64-bit) in a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop
@jsalisbury: Hello again. I did not yet try the latest upstream kernel (of the 3.11 series), but I got another kernel panic this evening (Sun, 18-aug-2013), at around 1H00 am (Lisbon time), using the same kernel that I mentioned, when I opened this bug report (3.5.0-37-generic 64-bit). Thankfully, this time the kernel panic is more informative: it points to the likely culprit! As you can see, in the attached photo of this new kernel panic, there's a message line referring the Broadcom BCM4357 802.11 Hybrid Wireless Controller, namely the following line (eth1 is my wireless/wi-fi port): [ 24.209511] eth1: Broadcom BCM4357 802.11 Hybrid Wireless Controller 6.20.155.1 (r326264) With this additional information - that leads to believe that the problem lies with the Broadcom wi-fi controller / driver - do you think that I should still test the latest upstream kernel -OR- should I try something else? Thanks again. ** Attachment added: Photo of Kernel Panic that happened today (18-aug-2013, 1H00 am, Lisbon Time) - pointing to Broadcom Wireless Driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1212856/+attachment/3777062/+files/2013-08-18%2000.57.26.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1212856 Title: Kernel Panic - Not syncing : Fatal Exception in Interrupt in 12.04.2 LTS (64-bit) in a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1212856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1212856] Re: Kernel Panic - Not syncing : Fatal Exception in Interrupt in 12.04.2 LTS (64-bit) in a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop
@jsalisbury: Thanks for replying. Regarding testing kernels from the 3.11 line, I will only be able to try doing that in a few days. Meanwhile, I'm attaching now a photograph of the latest kernel panic, that happened today (Fri, 16-aug-2013), at around 14H00 (Lisbon Time). The photo has a bit more reflexion than I thought it had (sorry about that). ** Attachment added: Photo of Kernel Panic that happened today (16-aug-2013, 14H00, Lisbon Time) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1212856/+attachment/3775244/+files/2013-08-16%2014.05.38.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1212856 Title: Kernel Panic - Not syncing : Fatal Exception in Interrupt in 12.04.2 LTS (64-bit) in a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1212856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1212856] [NEW] Kernel Panic - Not syncing : Fatal Exception in Interrupt in 12.04.2 LTS (64-bit) in a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop
Public bug reported: Several times, when I boot my Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS (Precise Pangolin) 64-bit installation, I get a kernel panic during the boot. When that happens, I have to power the machine down and power it up again. Sometimes, the kernel panic happens several times in a row, until the machine finally boots. The hardware is a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop, running in Dual-Boot with Windows 7 Home Premium (also 64-bit). I have all Updates installed to this date (15-aug-2013), including the kernel updates: the running kernel is 3.5.0-37 Here's the output from uname -a : $ Linux [hostname] 3.5.0-37-generic #58~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 10 17:48:11 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The last message of the kernel panic is almost always the following: Kernel Panic - Not syncing : Fatal Exception in Interrupt Sometimes, there's a message below that stating: Shutting down cpus with NMI The messages above the Kernel Panic message are usually different each time. I have photographed several of the Kernel Panic screens and I can attach some of them to this Bug Report, if that's useful. In case it's relevant, my partition setup for this Ubuntu installation is the following: 1 - a /boot partition (formatted as ext3) 2 - a swap partition 3 - a / partition (formatted as ext4), with encrypted home folder. Please tell me if I should add any information to this bug report. Thanks in advance.
