[Bug 766827] Re: motd not updating

This problem is mentioned in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/update-notifier/+bug/545398

The work-around is to delete the file /etc/motd.tail which contains the
old/stale updates information.  It is this old information that is being
displayed at login.
