[Bug 1280839] Re: Touchpad / Trackpoint does not work on fresh install of 13.10 on Toshiba Portege Z10t-A kernel-bug-exists-upstream
I managed to get basic functionality by enabling the HID_MULTI_INPUT quirk for the device: sudo rmmod usbhid sudo modprobe -v usbhid quirks=0x0930:0x0807:0x0040 If you do this the touchpad and trackpoint is just recognised as a basic mouse (but better than nothing!). The clickpad buttons don't work, but the trackpoint buttons do. [Bug 1209032] Re: [LENOVO 4298CTO] suspend/resume failure
I updated the BIOS to 1.39 and the bug is still present. I didn't describe it very well initially, but I can now reproduce it reliably. If I put the computer to sleep in its docking station, remove it from the dock, and then wake it up, the indicator lights come on but I get a black screen that I can't get out of without doing a hard reset. I'm not sure whether it's related, but I get about 10 or so crash notifications every time I boot up and log in. The only things connected to the dock are an AC adapter, CD/DVD writer, and ethernet cable. The bug does not occur if I put it to sleep with AC adapter plugged in to the computer itself, unplug it, and wake it up (i.e. without the dock). sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date [sudo] password for richard: 8DET69WW (1.39 ) 07/18/2013 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1209032 Title: [LENOVO 4298CTO] suspend/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1209032/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I think, the solution from #61 Johnson is so far the most effective one. Plus it's really a good idea to just revert to an older version of kernel and wait for the ubuntu guys to fix the problem. It is really helpful for me with a Thinkpad W530! what I did is: 1. change BIOS confiuration to use integrated graphic card 2. reboot (from any kernel) 3. remove the kernel version 27 from Synaptic 4. change the BIOS back to NVIDIA graphic card 5. [Bug 985975] Re: [wacom]: won't calibrate X220t
@Timo: I couldn't install the .deb due to dependency issues (it also wanted a newer version of libwacom-common, and when I tried to install that there were further problems). Was I doing it wrong? I tried installed Alpha 2 on a new partition and updating it to test it that way, but Alpha 2 currently doesn't recognise the hardware at all. [Bug 985975] Re: [wacom]: won't calibrate X220t
@Razvan. It's low priority because there are other ways to calibrate the tablet (but not as pleasant as a decent gui). The method I use is to manually set the Area parameter using xsetwacom - making small iterative adjustments until I get a decent calibration. Because of the edge effects on the x220t, I find this works better than the values returned by xinput-calibrator (but you should perhaps try this too). For me wicd also seems to work much better than Network Manager, thanks for the suggestion. I've now had an N connection running at my university for almost half an hour at speeds between 80 and 120 Mb/s (WPA2 PEAP/MSCHAPV2). Tx excessive retries is, however, in the tens of thousands, but at least the connection is maintaining speed and isn't dropping out (or refusing to connect at all) which is what happens under Network Manager. [Bug 339648] Re: recordmydesktop produces Broken pipe: Overrun occurred in Kubuntu Jaunty with HDA Intel
@Bill: I can confirm the problem that you are having. I'm recording ~50 minute screencasts (lectures for a course at University of Canterbury where the contact hours have dropped significantly after the Christchurch earthquake) , and as often as not the sound drops out completely 30-40 minutes in, which is VERY frustrating, especially as recordmydesktop gives no indication that there has been a problem, I only discover it when I try to play the video. I use it from the command line with 100% video and sound quality. I'm glad to hear it doesn't appear to be a resource issue though, as I'm using a slow laptop - an HP2710p with Maverick (1.2GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB). I'm not certain that it is the same bug as this one though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339648 Title: recordmydesktop produces Broken pipe: Overrun occurred in Kubuntu Jaunty with HDA Intel -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 261016] [NEW] intrepid xserver only starts if boot via recovery option
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I upgraded my hp2710p (Intel 965 graphics) from a working Hardy install to intrepid alpha 4, and am having all sorts of display problems. When I boot, I get the Ubuntu splash screen, but my display turns off before I hit the login screen. Things still work, as I can log in - I hear the login sounds, and can reboot blind via a console (CTRL-ALT F1, login, sudo reboot) - so long as I get the keystrokes right. The closing down progress bar then reappears at this point. If I boot via the recovery option, and choose Resume Normal Boot, everything works just fine. Note: I used the fix X option in recovery mode earlier, to get rid of my custom xorg.conf - it had extra entries for the 2710p's tablet, but the problem persists. The new xorg.conf has virtually nothing in it (I think by design now) ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- intrepid xserver only starts if boot via recovery option https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/261016 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 145896] Re: 640x480 Only After Install of Gutsy Tribe5, Compaq C500t, Intel 945 Chipset, Celeron, 512K
I can confirm this behaviour on my Dell Inspiron 6000 (Intel 915 graphics). Live CD doesn't detect the correct resolution of 1280x800 (it chooses 1024x768) and when I choose this 1280x800 (from the Plug'n'Play monitor), it incorrectly writes 640x480 as the only available res. into xorg.conf, which shows up on X restarting. dpkg-reconfigure does detect the correct resolution, and fixes this. Curious as to why the native resolution wasn't detected correctly in the first place, as it has been since at least Dapper -- 640x480 Only After Install of Gutsy Tribe5, Compaq C500t, Intel 945 Chipset, Celeron, 512K https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145896 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147382] Gutsy beta: resolution reverts to 640x480 after reboot and can't be changed
Public bug reported: Running a Dell Inspiron 6000 - Intel 915 built in graphics, 1280x800 laptop display. Sequence of events to duplicate problem: * Gutsy beta Live CD incorrectly sets resolution to 1024x768, but I ignore this for now. (this hasn't happened in previous releases though) * Once installed, it boots into 1024x768 as expected. I adjust this successfully to 1280x800 using the new screens and graphics GUI * On all successive reboots, the resolution is 640x480, and the other supported resolutions are gone from the menu.
