[Bug 1840122] Re: System fails to reboot from live session or ubiquity-dm - squashfs_read_data failed to read block

2019-09-18 Thread Richard Vajdel
I tested it with the current iso (2019-09-17).

1. Booted into live session
2. Waited for 30 minutes
3. Restarted via System menu
4. Restart of the system was successful without any error

Can anybody test it and verify it if it works for them too?

Thanks

[Bug 1355851] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.10 and inactive desktop

2014-08-12 Thread Richard Vajdel
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 has inactive desktop in live desktop enviroment and after
installation viainstall on harddrive option in menu.

There's no possibility of right-click on the desktop, Unity Launcher is
inactive too and panel does not contain any informations( time, battery,
settings etc.). Dash doesn't open and result of trying to start app via
icon on launcher is long loading.

Everything works only with nomodeset option in grub.

Around Alpha 1 milestone was everything fine.

[Bug 1264835] Re: Low graphic mode

2014-04-23 Thread Richard Vajdel
Okey, I 've had exactly the same problem with OpenMandriva( Beta
worked, RC didn't work), so I filled bug on their bugzilla and this is
conclusion.

OpenMandriva developer said I should try to run some commands resp. add some
commands in to boot.
Here is what happened.

alt+ctrl+f1= nothing
i915.invert_brightness=1 = Nothing
xorg.blacklist= intel = nothing
xorg.blacklist= ati = works
xorg.blacklist= intel +nomodeset = works
xorg.blacklist= ati+nomodeset = works
nomodeset itself without additional commands=works

Here is his reaction:

It's not to much of a mystery now. It is to do with the plymouth bootsplash
and kernel graphics mode setting. Basically what is happening is that plymouth
is initialising graphics on the intel chip and then xorg is auto-detecting the
ati adapter and switching to that. Because the the drm kernel modules are
already loaded for the Intel hardware the ati driver cannot unload them and
thus the ati hardware does not get it's kernel module drivers loaded which
basically comes down to the fact that you get a black screen.
It worked in the beta because we were loading the uvesa frame buffer driver but
that caused problems with other cards. Currently automated graphics detection
is a bit of a minefield to say the least!!

For the moment it probably best that you add one of the working configs
that you have tested to the default boot line as I described.

I've thought it would be helpful

[Bug 1264835] Re: Low graphic mode

2014-04-20 Thread Richard Vajdel
Unfortunately I do not have second display connector and trust me, I've
no problem to wait for newer kernel or for point one release or 14.10.
It's just really weird, that Beta 2 worked well. Beta 2 booted nicely
right in to live enviroment, I was really happy about that because
Ubuntu is my favourite distro and I wasn't able to install last two
releases... and final release of 14.04 doesn' t work. That's one
thing I don'get. I mean, I don't think that so much work was done during
beta2-final release period on the kernel side- it was still 3.13 right?

But I have this problem almost with every distro only with one change,
instead of low graphic mode prompt I get black screen. Only distro which
works right away is Manjaro thanks to their MHWD and for now, Opensuse
13.2 development branch. Even OpenMandriva 2014 beta worked well and RC1
gives me black screen... maybe I am just lucky guy :).

But again, thanks

2014-01-21 Thread Richard Vajdel
I tried the newest daily build of Trusty Tahr and still the same. Only
prompt for low graphic mode, after clicking yes and stay by for 1
minute nothing is happening, so I can't run those commands. To be
honest, I have problems with all distributions. Only one works out of
the box ... boot- live enviroment-install and that distro is Manjaro
Linux, probably thanks to their own Hardware detection tool MHWD. Would
it help, if i run those commands from Manjaro system?

[Bug 1219102] Re: Cannot update or install Ubuntu 13.10

2013-09-07 Thread Richard Vajdel
UPDATE:
I tried to boot other Linux distros like Fedora, Mageia, Debian. All of these
was running from USB in Live enviroment and yes, they crashed too. Again- black
display. Next i tried boot Saucy from DVD ( maybe something bad with USB port
or something) but no, it did the same- black display, DVD rom was going for
next 40 seconds and it turned off. So i tried download 64bit Ubuntu Saucy and
again- black display. So this is not a Ubuntu Bug, but something with my pc,
what frustates me.

[Bug 1219102] Re: Cannot update or install Ubuntu 13.10

2013-08-31 Thread Richard Vajdel
Of course,

here is the output from terminal after i updated my BIOS

e-date
F8
07/28/2009

Well, this is kind of wierd, what happened. Today I tried to boot in to
Ubuntu 13.04, 12.04.3 and 12.04 ( first april release). In every one of
these, my PC did the same, display went off and pc was quiet. After
update of bios, my pc did the same- booted in to 13.10 Saucy. Maybe it's
something wrong with my HW ? Well, maybe, but i am wondering, why it
happened during update of full system 13.10- and my 13.04 is working
well. It seems to be my problem, not the Ubuntu.. so sorry :/

[Bug 1219102] [NEW] Cannot update or install Ubuntu 13.10

2013-08-30 Thread Richard Vajdel
Public bug reported:

In early stages of development of Saucy salamander i haven't any
problems with installing 13.10. I was using it for a while and was
waiting for xmir or its parts to come in to daily. Later i tried to
update saucy salamander, but after a while my display went black ( like
turned off) and pc went silent, but still going. I was like daily,
maybe mistake or something, it will be patched soon or later. Today(
after 3 weeks, or month) I made LiveUSB with daily build of Saucy and
tried to did a clear installation. While installing ( like 1-2 minutes
of progress) it did the same thing as during the earlier update. Pc just
went silent and display was black. My grub was out. Iam not sure if I
am able to obtain some info from that because it was during installation
and that testing partition doesn't look well.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
