[Bug 1768261] [NEW] Videos are getting stuck randomly at frames
Public bug reported: Updated Ubuntu to 18.04 (from 17.10) and this problem started. Videos, on VLC and on Youtube, Twitch etc. on Chrome get stuck on frames. The video seek time also gets stuck at that frame, and then suddenly the video skips ahead. Audio has no issues. I am assuming it's a problem with the video drivers. I have dual graphics cards, one integrated and one dedicated(AMD Radeon HD 8670M). I guess my problem is similar to https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029205/video-playback-performance- issue-ubuntu-18-04 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-20.21-generic 4.15.17 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-20-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Tue May 1 19:40:21 2018 DistUpgraded: 2018-04-26 21:50:03,842 ERROR got error from PostInstallScript ./xorg_fix_proprietary.py (g-exec-error-quark: Failed to execute child process “./xorg_fix_proprietary.py” (No such file or directory) (8)) DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a16] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [1028:05ea] InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-01-21 (830 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Bug 889629] Re: [Aspire 4830T, Conexant CX20588, Mic, Internal] Background noise or low volume
BTW, forgot to mention. I did a re-installation of a few packages today (in order to fix a bug that prevented login into the system) by re- installing gdm (which did not work) and then ubuntu-desktop (which finally worked, allowing me to login). After that, the sound volume is ok (at 100% input volume). However, it is still very noisy. Can't use it for videochat. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/889629 Title: [Aspire 4830T, Conexant CX20588, Mic, Internal] Background noise or low volume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/889629/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 273787] Re: Screensaver does not start
Actually crashing, no. And I found out something else; it doesn't happen if Compiz is disabled. (i.e.) The screensaver starts normally. -- Screensaver does not start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273787 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 273787] Re: Screensaver does not start
No, no. I can. 1. Set screensaver idle time. 2. Wait for the screensaver to time-out. 3. It happens. The video attached should give you a little idea of what I'm talking about. ** Attachment added: "Problematic screensaver video" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18442684/screensaver.ogv -- Screensaver does not start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273787 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 273787] Re: Screensaver does not start
This doesn't seem to happen when glx is not enabled. (on my nvidia card). The last time I tried it, it was with Compiz running. However, apport launched only once, under conditions I'm not able to reproduce. However, I can SEE that the screensaver doesn't start, even though apport doesn't tell me about it. So I'm not sure if the program is CRASHING as such. glx is not working for me at the moment, so I'll try a backtrace soon after I get it to work. ** Visibility changed to: Public -- Screensaver does not start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273787 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
