[Bug 2061299] Re: Thinkpad T510 24.04 beta hangs on live CD

2024-04-16 Thread Rob Peters
Yes, safe boot boots correctly and that is where I did the dmesg.
Is there anything I can try to help eliminate possibilities?

[Bug 2061326] [NEW] 24.04 beta hangs at desktop

2024-04-14 Thread Rob Peters
Public bug reported:

I have a Thinkpad T510 dual boot windows and Ubuntu Budgie 22.04

Booting the 24.04 Ubuntu Budgie livecd, I notice that instead of the nice
desktop graphics for Budgie I get a text line saying Ubuntu Budgie 24.04. Then
when the desktop finally loads the liveCD locks up tight. Only a hard reset
works.
I have tried the Ubuntu 24.04 beta with same results.
If I take the boot option "safe graphics" the live cd session loads correctly
and does not hang.

[Bug 1922926] [NEW] Battery applet not updated after sleep

2021-04-07 Thread Rob Peters
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Budgie 21.04.
On battery, for example, battery says 40%. Close lid of laptop and then plug
the laptop into AC.
Open laptop on AC and applet still says 40% and gives no indication of being on
AC. Disconnect AC and reconnect AC no change. The applet uses Upower to
respond to battery events. So whatever is feeding Upower isnt being updated
after a resume.

For what its worth, this system originally had a wifi problem and is
running a backport-iwlwifi-dkms package. Could that be the problem?

Hi, was looking to install phpmyadmin 4.9.1 on a ubuntu 19.10 beta

it but kind of a pain. I am guessing that phpmyadmin will not be
available for 19.10 nor will a Eoan ppa be available??

OK, I rebuilt the Dell XPS 15 2019 laptop with the killer 1650 wireless,
with 18.04, updated to current apt updates, then installed the kernel
team ppa. The new linux-oem-osp1 kernel does fix the wifi problem.

[Bug 1844787] [NEW] Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 device not supported by kernel

2019-09-20 Thread Rob Peters
Public bug reported:

Have a 2019 Dell XPS 15 that has a Killer 1650 Wireless-AC adapter.
Running with Ubuntu Budgie 19.04, the kernel 5.0.0-29 does not support
his device which requires that I build it manually.

This bug report is being filed against the UB 19.04 kernel because it
doesn't support this device and request that support be able to
backport'ed into the 4.15 kernels and maybe even the 5.0 kernel used by
19.04

This bug is dependent on screen size. In my situation, my laptop
display is 1366 x 768. However, on monitors with higher resolution the
problem is not evident.

[Bug 1796512] [NEW] systemd starting CIFS before wireless network avaiblale

2018-10-06 Thread Rob Peters
Public bug reported:

Trying to get a wireless laptop to mount a CIFS drive at boot time.
However, keep getting error below. It appears that the attempt at
mounting the CIFS drive is taking place before the wireless network
comes online. However, I have the _netdev specified on the mount which
should delay the mount. Yes, I can create a shell script to mount the
drive but… Not sure if this is a core Ubuntu thing or you guys.

[Bug 1767361] Re: 4.6.6deb5 not working on Bionic as PHP 7.2 is default

2018-09-24 Thread Rob Peters
I agree with Andy's sentiment. I run phpmyadmin 4.8.3 on several 18.04
systems. Once the tmp directory is defined and the secret error defined
its good to go. For a LTS release this should have been fixed.

[Bug 1792801] [NEW] running libreoffice from command line throws error

Per Budgie folks, "Looks like the code is assuming gnome shell

[Bug 1788439] Re: xubuntu 18.10 - gimp export with thumbnail changes to landscape

  2. Small .jpg images exported to the desktop, with or without a
thumbnail, do not show the icon. This is a gimp problem. If I use

[Bug 1681269] Re: Launcher Type=link, can not be opened with other application

2018-04-15 Thread Rob Peters
OK, I had to go back and think about this for a moment since I am no
longer on 17.04. I have tested this issue on both Ubuntu as well as
Ubuntu Bodgie, both on 18.04 and the same thing is happening with
Nautilus as the default.

To duplicate the issue, take the desktop file below, save it to the desktop as
calendar.desktop.
Then, right click on the file. You should be able to open it with gedit.
However, if it loads, gedit is empty or contains the last buffer from the
previous file edited. You can't set permissions on the desktop file with a
right click e.g. set it executable.
