[Bug 1904102] [NEW] Upgrade from 5.4.0-52 to 5.4.0-53 lost 2.5gbe ethernet on B550 board
Public bug reported: I was running Ubuntu 20.04 on a B550 motherboard. I believe the 2.5gb ethernet is actually only in newer kernels normally but Ubuntu backport it. It was working fine, then I received a kernel upgrade 5.4.0-53 and the ethernet dissapeared. [Bug 829086] Re: Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge
Yes, intel-gpu-tools in both Natty and Oneiric doesn't work from the repository (you get the error - Couldn't map MMIO region: No such file or directory). Compiling intel-gpu-tools from source is one option, but I also found a PPA that works, and you can also just download the .deb without adding the PPA: https://launchpad.net/~sarvatt/+archive/intel-gpu-tools For those people that are still experiencing some artifacts, I have been playing around with the "sudo intel_reg_write 0x9404 0x1800" fix most of the afternoon and have come to find that it matters when you run this command. This command must be run before any 3D happens, if you have already had the artifacts and then run the command it will not fix it, even if you restart your 3D application. It appears once the graphics card is in this "state" already, the fix won't work. You must run the command just after you started the computer, when there have been no artifacts or 3D yet. Because the command has to be run as root (and it doesn't seem to matter if you run it before X starts), I have found the perfect place to place this line is in the /etc/rc.local file, just before the "exit 0" line. Since /etc/rc.local is executed by root, you don't have to put sudo in front either. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/829086 Title: Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/829086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 829086] [NEW] Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge
Public bug reported: I am experiencing serious artifacts with the Sandy Bridge graphics card when doing 3D. Because we are trying to use this card at work, I have been testing this card for the last 2 months trying to get it to work with no luck, so I have done quite a lot of testing towards this and have found nothing so far that fixes this issue. This bug seems to happen to certain parts of the 3D scene only, it happens with our software quite badly which uses Panda 3D (I will attach a screenshot), but it is not limited to Panda 3D or our software at all because it also happens with Extreme Tux Racer if you look closely at the trees when you pause the game (I have taken a screenshot of this too). What you will notice is a pattern of dots (artifacts) in certain areas of the 3D scene, also the dots flicker like snow, which the screenshots cannot show exactly. I have marked the areas that have artifacts in Extreme Tux Racer in red, but in the screenshot of our software it is so bad I don't even need to mark this. I am using Ubuntu Natty 32 bit, I have tried the following: * Intel drivers supplied with natty (2.14) and mesa supplied with natty (7.10.2) * Cutting edge Intel drivers and mesa 7.12 prerelease from Xorg edgers * Intel drivers 2.15 from various PPA's with Mesa 7.11 GIT pre-release * Intel drivers 2.15, Linux 3.0, Mesa 7.11 final release from Michael Kuhn PPA * Linux 3.0, Mesa 7.11 final from Michael Kuhn PPA + latest Intel 2.16 drivers from Xorg edgers * Both HD2000 and HD3000 model CPUs do it (both Core i3) * I have experimented with turning different settings on and off using driconf, but it still happens I have also tried to install Oneiric Alpha 3 32 bit, but the desktop CD crashes half way during the install, the alternative CD crashes during the install when it asks for the language because it doesn't like USB keyboards, and the server CD also crashes, before it can even start, so I cannot install Oneiric at this point to test it. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: intel sandybridge -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/829086 Title: Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/829086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 367214] [NEW] utils.calculate_cloud can leave font_size unset for most frequent tag
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: python-django-tagging This is a long standing issue on Google Code, issue 91: http://code.google.com/p/django-tagging/issues/detail?id=91 This issue has been reported on Google Code quite some time ago, and although there has been a patch available for well over a year, the patch just doesn't seem to get applied. Without this patch, many websites written in Django will often crash when generating a tag cloud, because the font_size field does not always get set, and this does seem to happen quite a lot. I am not sure why this patch has not been applied for so long, maybe the upstream author will need to be contacted about this. I have created a package myself with this patch applied in my own PPA should anyone need it for the time being: https://launchpad.net/~robvdl/+archive/ppa ** Affects: python-django-tagging (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- utils.calculate_cloud can leave font_size unset for most frequent tag https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367214 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 285660] [NEW] Hard drive light goes on every time cursor keys pressed in message
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution When I am editing a message in Evolution in Intrepid, and I hold the cursor keys down on the keyboard to move in the document, the hard drive light goes crazy. The hard drive light goes on every time I move the cursor one position up, down, left or right. So holding one of the arrows down, makes it go flat tack. [Bug 264191] Re: python-django FFe for 1.0
Django 1.0 has been released now. It would be really good if it will make it into the Intrepid repository. Django 0.96 is very old and hardly anyone uses it anymore. Even before Django 1.0's release, a lot of people were using the SVN because of how old 0.96 was getting. It makes very little sense to bundle 0.96 anymore, and if possible should really push for 1.0 in Intrepid. -- python-django FFe for 1.0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/264191 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 198267] Re: wireless rt61pci driver buggy in Hardy alpha (only 1Mbit/s) - used to be fine on Gutsy
Update: After reboot, I got 1 mbps again, first I tried: sudo ifdown -a sudo ifup -a Nothing happened at all, network manager didnt even seem to bring the link down at all typing the ifdown command, but then again I have had loads of issues with network manager both in gutsy and hardy, both for wireless and wired networks, I don't really trust that app it seems a bit flakey still. Anyway, so I tried clicking on my wireless connection again, network manager reconnected to my network, and I got full speed again after the reconnect. After a reboot I seem to have to simply click on my network to reconnect to get full speed, as it seems to still start at 1 mbits after a reboot. easily solved with a reconnect but shouldn't really be necessary. -- wireless rt61pci driver buggy in Hardy alpha (only 1Mbit/s) - used to be fine on Gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198267 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, the linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic package fixed this problem for me to I purchased an Edimax EW-7608Pg wireless PCMCIA card using the rt61pci driver, before installing the backports modules I got 1mbps connection and the link light would not light up, only the activity light, but it did work. [Bug 238823] Re: [MASTER] Firefox 3 RC1: color (grey) used for urls in the awesome bar make them hard to read in multiple themes (human, etc.)
Wass: it looks like the bug didn't get fixed for Firefox 3 final, which saddens me as it was really so easy to revert. The bug also affects the Windows version of Firefox 3. Although they may have only seen this bug as cosmetic, what really makes this bug so important are older LCD monitors. At course we have older LCD monitors and we have to remember that on older LCD monitors, it is much harder to distinguish between light grey and white, basically you cannot read the text at all on these monitors as it just appears white. For now all you can do is apply the userChrome patch, both on Linux and Windows versions of Firefox 3, go into your Firefox user profile directory, then sub-directory chrome, and place the userChrome.css file attached by helios91940 -- [MASTER] Firefox 3 RC1: color (grey) used for urls in the awesome bar make them hard to read in multiple themes (human, etc.) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238823 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 238791] Re: New Firefox 3 RC1 update lines on dropdown address bar are now really light since BETA 5
I've taken screenshots of both Human and Clearlooks in BETA 5 using the Hardy Live CD, and then again of both themes in RC1 when Firefox 3 is updated via the repositories, and put them in one image for side by side comparison. There definitely is a difference between RC1 and BETA 5 as the screenshots show, even in Human, but it's most noticeable in Clearlooks as it's at the lines appear at their lightest there. Should it not be considered looking at anyway, I mean Clearlooks is the default Gnome theme, every Linux distro has Clearlooks on it, and a lot of people who do not like brown are going to choose Clearlooks as their theme anyway right after they installed Ubuntu, since it's pre-installed in Hardy, and currently in RC1 the entire dropdown looks like one white slab with no divider lines, especially on older LCD's where you cannot distinguish between light grey and white. The only other way out, would be a userChrome.css hack otherwise. ** Attachment added: "firefox3_locationbar_dropdown.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15189237/firefox3_locationbar_dropdown.png -- New Firefox 3 RC1 update lines on dropdown address bar are now really light since BETA 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238791 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 238791] Re: New Firefox 3 RC1 update lines on dropdown address bar are now really light since BETA 5
I am using the default Firefox theme, just the Clearlooks GTK theme instead of Human, which is well a fairly commonly used theme and it's there by default in Gnome. I will have to create a screenshot tomorrow from the Hardy Live CD, switching the GTK theme to Clearlooks and this time using Firefox 3 BETA 5, since this is on the Live CD, saves me having to revert my machine to the old version. I can agree it's not much of a bug, it's cosmetic, but it wasn't there in BETA 5, I think the old version worked better with the Clearlooks GTK theme, and possibly other GTK themes. -- New Firefox 3 RC1 update lines on dropdown address bar are now really light since BETA 5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238791 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox Ever since upgrading from Firefox 3 BETA 5 to Firefox 3 RC1 via the repositories, I noticed a bug in the rendering of the address bar drop down.
