Re: [Bug 1223578] Re: [ASUSTeK Computer INC. 901] suspend/resume failure

2013-09-21 Thread Robert Avant
Hi Christopher,

I have at last updated the BIOS on my Asus Eee 901 and the error message
I was getting has gone. However, the computer is slow to react and the
shut down dialogue (when it comes up first after a delay) is greyed
out. It eventually goes solid but is slow to react. Also
intermittently other dialogues go grey. The machine is now about 5
years old and perhaps I should replace it. Currently it uses a compact
flash adapter and compact flash hard disk as the PC is a Linux version
and the 4 Gig hard drive was becoming a limiting problem.

Regards

Bob Avant

[Bug 714272] [NEW] When installing on a machine with a 16:9 monitor the buttons to control progress are not visible on the Allocate Drive Space screen

2011-02-06 Thread Robert Avant
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

This problem occurs when installing on a netbook from a CD. One has to
guess how many times to hit the Tab key to continue installing. The
screens in the install programme need to be laid out so that control
buttons are visible at all times in all formats. This fault also
applied on the following "Where are you" page. While on the subject the
welcome screens on 11.4 at present show as the 10:10 version. No
indication of progress is given and it is difficult to judge when fully
installed.

[Bug 339891] Re: [Jaunty] wireless rt2860 not connecting to WPA

2009-05-05 Thread Robert Avant
As a thicko just trying to get his Ralink 2860 to work I succeeded as
suggested to use the Array.org info detailed in another web site on my
Eee 901. Being an absolute idiot I was hoping to geo t a succinct set
of instructions here as I unfortunately fitted the same "Linux
Compatible" Ralink 2860 card kit to my Laptop which I am currently
having to use a cable for. Does anyone have a guaranteed short method
of getting this unit to work. Or do we all wait for the next version of
Ubuntu for it to work out of the box so to speak. After all this was
reported as being a fix to be incorporated into Jaunty!
