This is great news. Thanks a lot! (According to Debian changelog, the patch provided here was indeed used in some variant. So being so annoying was not for nothing... [Bug 1776173] Re: qt print dialog shipped with bionic ignores printer defaults
I would be willing to have a look and try to backport the patch I provided. However, at first I would like to have an explanation from the ubuntu maintainers why the few-lines-patch I provided, which enables easy duplex printing for many people (and so safe a lot of paper), has not been included. Otherwise, I can only recommend to use a different distribution. There probably are some where maintainers can imagine that some users actually use their LTS distribution in a productive environment that want to print (duplex)... (Btw, I fully agree that a patch that would resolve more of the issues would be very nice. However such patch would require huge changes in the code which certainly will never be accepted...Let us better at least hope to fix the most annoying issue.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1776173 Title: qt print dialog shipped with bionic ignores printer defaults To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1776173/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1451728] Re: [master] kde-config-telepathy-accounts package install error
1. Many (non-expert, just) users are heavily affected by this bug. In fact, everyone that wants to install KDE and another major desktop environment in parallel will fail. Some will quite likely give up using (K)Ubuntu. (If even such simple things do not work easily...) 2. It was opened in May 2015. 3. This bug only exists because of wrong file/path names. You do not need to be a genius hacker to fix it. 4. It was resolved upstream in February 2016. 5. It was promised to be resolved for Ubuntu 16.04. 6. Now, almost two months after Ubuntu 16.10 was released, it still exists. The history of this bug tells a lot about the current status of (K)Ubuntu. Ubuntu: Nobody cares much about things beyond Unity. Kubuntu: Nobody (if anyone is still working on it) cares about things beyond Plasma. PS: I know that bashing here does not help much. There may be a fix for some developers, but for thousands of users, nothing chanced since May 2015 (!) when this bug was filed! [Bug 1451728] Re: [master] kde-config-telepathy-accounts package install error
Hi, I just tested whether adding the staging-misc ppa solves the problem. Unfortunately, it does not! More importantly, it seems like there are still files in conflict that are not mentioned in bug 1565772. Hence, I fear that this will not be solved even if bug 1565772 is resolved. ("/usr/share/accounts/services/google-im.service" which is also in "account-plugin-google") It is important to say that the problem appears then configuring "kde- config-telepathy-accounts" which is not contained in the above mentioned PPA for xenial. This explains why it cannot be fixed. Finally, I highly recommend that the Kubuntu quality testers should add the following extremely simple test case: - install ubuntu (standard, no changes) - sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop The expected behavior is that one should get a system where the user can select between unity and kde. In current Ubuntu 16.04, however, one gets install conflicts.
