[Bug 1834951] [NEW] After logging in bluetooth is off and cannot be turned on

2019-07-01 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 19.04:

After logging in, Bluetooth is turned off and yet quick settings in
system tray still give me an option to turn it off (see the attached
screenshot).

After clicking "turn off" the option changes to "turn on", but clicking
on "turn on" doesn't do anything. I can keep flipping between on and off
and nothing happens. If I go to the full Bluetooth settings the same
thing happens. Basically I can't turn the Bluetooth on at all.

When I use the kill switch on my laptop (Purism Librem 13) Bluetooth
settings correctly tell me there's no Bluetooth adapter on my laptop.
When I flip the kill switch back and wait a few seconds I can turn the
Bluetooth on and then it will work.

In short - I have to kill and unkill Bluetooth for it to work.

This was not an issue on the previous version of Ubuntu (18.10).

to ubuntuforums.org to talk about what to do and what not to do in
similar situations in the future. I believe the developers will
appreciate that we move from here. Thanks!

[Bug 267376] Re: [Request] OpenOffice.org 3.0 in Intrepid ibex release

2008-10-14 Thread Robert Nasiadek
So much for the "latest and greatest". It's a shame that such a significant
upgrade won't make it to the final release. And a marketing gaffe, too. We've
already lost A LOT due to the lack of new theme despite the promises. People
ask me what's so exciting about Intrepid and I don't really know what to tell
them anymore.
I wouldn't mind if at least the backports repository actually had the latest
software. Waiting 6 more months is daunting to say the least.
Well, the good thing is there will always be PPAs to turn to for the a little
bit more advanced users.

So.. if you want Ubuntu to include the latest version of your software, cripple
security updates for older versions. You'll be much more likely to get an
exception next time. :)

[Bug 278834] [NEW] macbook brightness level redundancy

2008-10-05 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

On a MacBook 3rd gen first three brightness levels are the same
(backlight off). This causes some undesired behavior. For example when
"dim display when idle" in power management settings is checked the
screen goes off instead of dim. Solution should be ease - just get rid
of the first two levels leaving only one "off" state.

[Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'

2008-04-28 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Hello,

Porntape, thanks for joining the discussion. I can't remember which file
exactly I was playing at that time, but I have no files named with non-english
characters and my OS lang is english. The only characters that could get
converteded are spaces (so it would give %20 after encoding).
I was playing a file either from my harddrive or from a network share with
gvfs. Killing X session also didn't do much good here.

[Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'

2008-04-21 Thread Robert Nasiadek
I can confirm this behavior.
It happens randomly on my side. I can't really think of a way to trigger this.
Right now totem sits in the background eating 100% of one of my cpu cores and
has Uninterruptible status. Can't stop it, can't kill it. All I know is that it
happens when I try to close it. Its window does disappear, but the process
stays in the background and eats CPU power.
What else can I say.. I'm using PulseAudio sink in gstreamer and I was
listening to a shoutcast stream.
I'll post more info the next time I encounter this issue.

[Bug 206237] [NEW] Backlight goes on while the lid is closed

2008-03-24 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

When I close the lid the backlight goes off, but when I either move the
mouse or use my remote (for example to change volume) the backlight goes
back on wasting power. I have to open and close the lid for it to go off
again.

This can greatly reduce battery life or just simply waste energy. And
it's plain annoying.

I believe this is a generic bug, but just in case - found on a MacBook
Santa Rosa.

Cheers.

[Bug 57302] Re: network manager is slow to refresh after resuming from suspend

2008-03-13 Thread Robert Nasiadek
The problem still exists. Using Gutsy on a 3rd gen macbook (with bcm4328
card and ndiswrapper).

After suspending and moving to a totally different location I still get
old networks in the list. And the new ones take up to 6-7 minutes to
show up! It would be faster to just reboot the laptop than to wait for
NM to refresh the list.

I'm actually using Hardy packages for NM (0.6.6) and kernel (2.6.24) so
I imagine this also applies to Hardy Heron.

Yup, it uses keyring, I use standard Edgy desktop (GNOME and Evolution

I've checked saved passwords with keyring manager.. basicalli here's what I do:

1. run evolution, read my imap inbox, close evolution
2. in keyring manager I have entry for imap://hostname
3. run evolution, send email, enter the smtp password, close evolution
4. in keyring manager I have entry for smtp://hostname, but the imap:// entry
is gone!
5. run evolution, imap password box pops up, I enter the password, close
evolution
6. in keyring manager I have the imap:// entry, but no smtp:// entry again..

And yes, the first time I run evolution it asks me for keyring master
password (and I just choose 'remember for session').

[Bug 62535] Re: [edgy] network-manager sees usb wifi (rt73usb) as wired net

2006-09-27 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Actually, the driver for the card creates two network interfaces wlan0 and
wmaster0. From the command line I use wlan0 to connect to networks, and
wmaster0 seems kinda weird - I'd suppose it's an interface for setting up APs,
but iwconfig doesn't even show mode for the interface (wlan0 is managed).
This is what I get:

wmaster0 IEEE 802.11g Frequency:2.412 GHz
  RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2346 B

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:""
  Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
  RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2346 B
  Encryption key:off

So I guess wmaster0 is insignificant, but just so you know...
And the other weird thing is there is no entry for my wlan0 card in the
/proc/net/wireless file.
The ath0 interface listed in the file is a different card (atheros) which works
well with nm.
Ok enough talking :-)
Here goes wlan0.log...

[Bug 61523] It's too easy to select a menu item by accident

2006-09-20 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

This one is more on usability than on a specific software. I guess this could
go to gtk toolkit, but I'm not sure.
The problem is that it's easy to accidentaly choose some menu item from a
context menu (and others, too). For example when you move your mouse across the
desktop in down-right direction and you click right mouse button unwillingly.
In nautilus it's usually just creating an empty folder, but sometimes it's
something different and hard to track down and revert - the click is too fast
to see what got activated. Some kind of solution to this would be to set a
timer - say, a user has to hold the right mouse button for at least 100ms for
the click to has any effect.
I know that this is pretty rare and funky, but I know some people who would
find this "feature" very helpful :-)
This is just a little proposal, I'm not gonna cry if this gets rejected.. :-)
but I think it's at least worth mentioning.

[Bug 61486] "Device is busy" when trying to eject pendrive in nautilus

2006-09-20 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

Hello there again :-)

I have another bug report for you. I've just connected my USB pendrive, copied
a relatively small file (about 15MB) to it - copying dialog didn't show up (the
pendrive is pretty fast - 12MB/s write speed), so I just right-clicked on it,
clicked Eject and instead of well-known dapper's "ejecting device" dialog I got
an error message saying that the "device is busy".. then the pendrive light
went on for a few seconds (looked kinda like syncing), and when it went back
off I could unmount the device normally, with the regular "ejecting device"
dialog.
Not a serious bug, but a serious annoyance, especially for users who get
confused easily :-)

thanks,
robzon

[Bug 59054] Re: Wrong behavior after 'not enough space on hard drive' error

2006-09-19 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Well, that was on dapper. I haven't tried this on edgy yet, but I guess it
could get upstream fix in the new gnome release.
I'll check it soon and post the results.
Thanks

[Bug 61047] Missing java plugin for firefox

2006-09-18 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: app-install-data

Java plugin for Firefox should be included in app-install-data, so that a user
can install the plug-in without using advanced package managers.
The other solution would be to integrate plugin installation with firefox
(install on demand), but anyways app-install-data should contain the plugin
also.

[Bug 59105] rt73usb driver not working in edgy

2006-09-05 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17

The driver doesn't really work - at the beginning it can scan for networks, but
after a few scans it stops.
It's impossible to manually assign network.
rt73 drivers from ralink's site work (kind of) well on dapper (didn't test on
edgy tho).

[Bug 58035] Driver for ralink rt73 chipset missing

2006-08-28 Thread Robert Nasiadek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

There is no driver for rt73 chipset-based cards in Dapper. This makes it very
difficult and inconvenient to install such cards.
There are many new cards that use this chipset, and as Dapper is a long-term
version, it would be good to support them.
Driver is available from ralink website and is GPLed.

[Bug 43903] Re: server fails to start when cgi.assign is in conf file

2006-08-11 Thread Robert Nasiadek
lighttpd catches a segfault here, with default fastcgi config + php4-cgi and
php5-cgi also.
in error log I get:

2006-08-11 23:15:08: (mod_fastcgi.c.2691) write-req: error 0x080a3d30 0
9000 0

and a segfault in console (when lighttpd is ran with -D flag).

I'm not sure if it's related to above errors, but it's a pretty much
critical bug, cause it makes setting up even a basic http server
impossible.

As well as mono 1.1.15, but that's beta (though it's probably much more stable
