[Bug 1422225] Re: The file or folder [URL HERE] does not exist when right-click - Open Link on a URL in konsole
If I go to System Settings - Applications - Default Applications - Web Browser and select in the following browser and type firefox, konsole works as expected. If I then change it back to in an application based on the contents of the URL, it breaks again. I expect this is some broader KDE issue rather than something relevant to konsole, but I don't know how to test further. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145 Title: The file or folder [URL HERE] does not exist when right-click - Open Link on a URL in konsole To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/konsole/+bug/145/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1422228] [NEW] muon-discover can't find any packages on first boot until `apt-get update' is done

In my opinion, either knetworkmanager or NetworkManager (whichever is responsible) should clear out stale state files at startup, since most other applications in the system that use state/PID files seem to be capable of doing so after an improper shutdown. ** Changed in: plasma-widget-networkmanagement (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- knetworkmanager doesn't connect with networkmanager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/553994 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-widget-networkmanagement in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 569286] [NEW] No way to apply theme changes to existing windows
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy Changing the theme in Empathy preferences does not apply the new theme to existing windows. As far as I can see, there's no way to do so. While this isn't a huge problem in user-to-user windows (one can always just close and re-open the window), it's a pain for group chats, where closing the window leaves the chat room. I selected that I did had additional accounts to set up, then got the following error (after several seconds of the window being blank): --- There was an error while parsing the account details. The error message was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. You can either go back and try to enter your accounts' details again or quit this assistant and add accounts later from the Edit menu. --- I then pressed the Back button, entered my account details again, selected that I didn't have additional accounts, and pressed Next. On the next screen, I said that I didn't want to enable the local chat feature, and pressed Apply. Clicking the Apply button didn't do anything. Switching back to Xorg with Ctrl-Alt-F7 got me to my desktop. I started up Firefox to get to Launchpad, and the computer then stopped responding to keyboard and mouse input. [Bug 402082] Re: boinc might use /home
The BOINC packages are currently configured on a per-computer basis, not a per-user basis. This has several advantages: * the BOINC client can do work while nobody's logged in * more than one user can control the BOINC instance, as the files are owned by a BOINC user and group * usually, people don't want to have different configurations for different users Per-computer files are supposed to be stored in /var/lib/. Doing what BOINC does on Windows and making a home folder for the BOINC user in /home/ doesn't seem to be the done thing in Debian-based distros. Even in situations, like yours, where putting them in /home seems to make sense, there are potential problems. Jaunty and Karmic's BOINC packages are different versions, and using the same configuration files for those two versions is probably not a great idea. For your particular situation, I'd recommend using the upstream .sh version at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php, rather than Ubuntu's packages. If you run that inside your home directory, it'll install BOINC there, and you can run the binaries it creates from either karmic or jaunty. That way, you'd be using the same version (in fact, the same binaries), and shouldn't have problems. However, since you wouldn't be using Ubuntu packages in this case, it's rather outside the scope of this venue... -- boinc might use /home https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402082 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 383256] Re: seahorse no longer running after upgrade to karmic, no gpg agent available
seahorse-plugins was changed to a suggest in the latest version, 2.27.1-0ubuntu1. Since there's no changelog comment to that effect, I'm not sure whether it was deliberate or an oversight during the merge from Debian... Anyway. Not installing seahorse-plugins by default also breaks Nautilus's ability to open .asc files, and removes the useful gedit plugin to encrypt/decrypt text, so it'd be excellent to revert that change (or at least get confirmation that it was deliberate?). -- seahorse no longer running after upgrade to karmic, no gpg agent available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The computer's motherboard is an Asus P5K-E Wifi-AP with all BIOS settings default. The graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 3450 (RV620). The wireless card is a Realtek 8187 using the rtl8187 module. The system is running a fully-updated Ubuntu Jaunty beta. Answers to questions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume : * Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up? I believe that it failed while going to sleep, because the computer's fan did not turn off at all. * Is it reproducible? Yes, it happens every time. * Did it work before? I have not used suspend/resume on this computer on Linux before, so I don't know. It works in Windows XP, however. * Do you end up with flashing caps-lock or similar? No. I just noticed the Debugging Suspend section of the above link, and will restart now to do those steps, then add information in a comment. rob...@xyzzy:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Release:9.04 rob...@xyzzy:~$ uname -a Linux xyzzy 2.6.28-11-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 27 10:01:17 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux ProblemType: KernelOops Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from resuming properly. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 279798 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279798 *sigh* On a hunch, I disabled my rtl8187 wifi card in my BIOS, and now suspend works fine. [Bug 97722] Re: Windows dual-boot can corrupt system clock even if time servers are enabled
trollord: set UTC=no in /etc/default/rcS. This setting will make Ubuntu read and write to the hardware clock in localtime, rather than UTC. Windows does the same by default, and thus you won't have problems with them fighting over the clock's timezone. This is the default (in Intrepid and Jaunty, anyway) for Ubuntu installations if Windows was installed first. David Nemeskey: Ticking Set date and time manually turns off NTP, so no, it wouldn't check the time servers on startup. If Kubuntu was not detecting your time zone change, then it's likely that your timezone wasn't set correctly, because tzdata contains information on time zone changes and is applied in (K)Ubuntu. Marking this report as invalid; Windows using the hardware clock differently from Ubuntu, Linux, and most other operating systems, is not really something we can fix. ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Windows dual-boot can corrupt system clock even if time servers are enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/97722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
