[Bug 2071938] Re: Simulated holds with Mousekeys: sometimes Gnome becomes unresponsive

2024-07-05 Thread Roberto
In brief: '.' is not enough but '/.*.-.' is.

/ = ch left
* = ch mid
- = ch right

5 = click (also cancel)
12346789 = move
0 = hold
+ = turbo
. = cancel
, = cancel too?

If I do:
(move to a resizable window corner)
ch right - hold
(move to a toolbar icon)
ch left - hold

then this happens:
* the pointer keeps carrying the icon;
* windows elements, power-off, shortcuts, ctrl+alt+fN and the real mouse clicks
do not work;
* not even CANCEL (.,5) by ITSELF works;
* ESC drops the icon, otherwise the same.

How to escape:
ch left - cancel - ch right - cancel

So ONE "cancel" press cancels ONE hold.
Now I think that I wasn't really stuck,
but it is not obvious that one needs to press up to 6 keys (ch left - cancel -
ch right - cancel - ch middle - cancel) to escape.

Would it be possible to make it easier to escape?

Thanks.

[Bug 2071938] [NEW] Simulated holds with Mousekeys: sometimes Gnome becomes unresponsive

2024-07-04 Thread Roberto
Public bug reported:

ubuntu 22.04 gnome wayland

I use the accessibility option "Mousekeys", and (sometimes) I
accidentally press the Keypad-0 key (that simulates holding a click),
while moving or clicking with the other keys.

Then sometimes the entire Gnome desktop (Wayland) freezes/hangs/stops.
I can't open/close/interact with programs,
I can't use keyboard shortcuts,
I can't log out,
I can't switch to a tty using Ctrl+Alt+FN.
Even the power-off button doesn't work.
The only thing I can do is move the mouse pointer and press NumLock to toggle
mouse keys.
The pointer remains drawn with the "holding" graphics, possibly carrying an
icon.

I still can't reproduce it _consistently_. But every two months using
mouse keys I press keys too quickly and it happens

Thanks!

[Bug 2063260] [NEW] ovn-ic: systemd service does not use ovn_ctl_opts

2024-04-23 Thread Roberto Bartzen Acosta
Public bug reported:

The ovn-ic.service script doesn't use OVN_CTL_OPTS from environment
file.

This way, we won't be able to start the daemon automatically by loading
configurations via file, just like ovn-ic-db service already does.

The idea to solve the problem would be to add the
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/ovn-ic to the ovn-ic.service and add the
opts when starting the daemon via ovn-ctl.

e.g.: /etc/default/ovn-ic file

OVN_CTL_OPTS="
--ovn-ic-nb-db=tcp:172.30.40.5:6645 \
--ovn-ic-sb-db=tcp:172.30.40.5:6646 \
--ovn-northd-nb-db=tcp:172.30.40.65:6641 \
--ovn-northd-sb-db=tcp:172.30.40.65:6642
"

[Bug 1976285] [NEW] SNAT/DNAT - Traffic sent to LRP port recirculate until TTL=0 (drop recirc action)

2022-05-30 Thread Roberto Bartzen Acosta
Public bug reported:

Hey there,

I'm looking through the docs quite extensively for references on how
SNAT and DNAT flow work to try to understand the problem related to the
issues reported in the links below:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ovn/+bug/1967718
https://mail.openvswitch.org/pipermail/ovs-dev/2021-August/386720.html

I can see these same log messages "kernel: openvswitch: ovs-system:
deferred action limit reached, drop recirc action" on gateway nodes in
my OpenStack installation.

The main problem is related to TCP/UDP traffic sent to the address of an
LRP port that is not part of any SNAT/DNAT conversation, it will keep
recirculating in the OVS data plane until TTL is 0.

The message is shown in the kernel log due to the size of the FIFO
"DEFERRED_ACTION_FIFO_SIZE", but this is a consequence of the packets
not matching the flow tables of the datapath. See kernel -
net/openvswitch/actions.c

I can reproduce on a local ovn/ovs installation building the ovn
main/master branch and ovs submodule(github projetcs). This problem also
occurs in all the latest released tags from OVN and OVS for Ubuntu 20.04
LTS.

Basically, it only happens when there is a SNAT rule to translate an
entire network (masquerade) and the return traffic does not have an open
port. If a DNAT is used for a specific host (even if the ports have not
been mapped, but if there is a 'host' to redirect the DNAT), the traffic
is forwarded and is not sent via netlink through the slowpath until it
is dropped.

The patch proposed by Krzysztof Klimonda aims to modify the flow table
via OVN communication - inserting a drp rule for traffic related to this
issue. This patch was not accepted in the project, but it made me
intrigued as to how to solve this problem (I can't just increase the
kernel DEFERRED_ACTION_FIFO_SIZE). The proposed patch is very old and
does not apply to the current code structure. I tried to adapt ovn-
northd.c to the new northd/northd.c format and applied it to upstream,
but the problem still occurs.
ovn_upstream.txt[https://github.com/openvswitch/ovs-
issues/files/8798982/ovn_upstream.txt]

I believe the patch does not solve the problem because I keep seeing
messages in the log.

Do you have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I am adding a reproducer for this issue in the attached file.
issue_reproducer.txt[https://github.com/openvswitch/ovs-issues/files/8798161/issue_reproducer.txt]

Kind regards,
Roberto

This seems to be still an issue, not in Ubutuntu, but maybe back in
Debian? I have god the same problem on Raspbian so the problem may lie
upstream in Debian ? I was updating to libc62.32 and libcrypt1:4.4.27
... working on a fix right now using the trick to create the symlink for

Thank you. I've tried to install the new version of the package for our

by Marc Deslauriers. Unfortunately I see the same behavior, so I had to
roll back again.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention: NT4 Domain Member Server users and groups
are resolved vis NSS/LDAP, no winbind, as Rigo Schultz' setup. And I
confirm, downgrading Samba solves the issue, I'm actually keeping the
new version for the DC, and everything seems to be running fine.

[Bug 1954342] Re: Client authentication error "Failed to convert SID ... to a PID"

2021-12-10 Thread Roberto
Same here, my configuration is more or less similar to the OP's. After
the update, the domain users authenticate successfully on their Windows
client machines against the Samba DC, so both LDAP and authentication
seem to work (I also use the same LDAP records for authentication of
other software, so that definitely works). Once authenticated, when they
try to access a Samba server (which is a member of the domain), they are
asked for their credentials (which obviously don't work, otherwise they
wouldn't be asked, 'cause they're domain credentials).

[Bug 1938328] [NEW] can't upgrade linux distribution from 18.04 to 20.04

2021-07-28 Thread Roberto Pereira Caldas
Public bug reported:

Message from upgrade process (portughese):

Não foi possível calcular a atualização

Ocorreu um problema sem solução, enquanto estava calculando a
atualização.

Isto deve ter sido causado por:
 * Pacotes de software não oficiais nao disponibilizados por Ubuntu
Por favor use a ferramenta 'ppa-purge' do pacote ppa-purge
para remover software do Launchpad PPA e
tente a atualização novamente.

Se nada disto servir, então por favor comunique a falha usando o comando
'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' no terminal. Se você quiser
investigar isto por si os ficheiros de registro em '/var/log/dist-
upgrade' contém detalhes sobre a atualização. Olhe especialmente para
'main.log' e 'apt.log'.

[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location

2021-05-06 Thread Roberto Lobo
@Gustavo and dev team

In #259 it was said that an approach has been discussed and agreement
uppon. I understand that on 2021-03-29 a fix was confirmed, although I
could not find anything on the matter (including the design document).

I am running snap/snapd 2-50 (full system, fresh install) and a snap dir
was created here. I am not demanding things be my way, but I am putting
huge effort to build my system from ground up,
eading/learning/configuring everything as much as possible, and have no
clue how this matter evolved (far more clueless than an blind person on
a wild west shooting).

This thread has been quite inactive lately and I would be gratefull if
someone could clarify if something was changed/fixed (then I know
something is missconfigured on my side).

I undestand that better xdg portal integration was released, bit as I am
running arch + xmonad I dont have that setup (has lots of deps including
gnome-desktop). Does that has something to do with that?

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1905038] Re: Casualmente la cancellazione dal desktop del menu applicazioni bocca ogni attività escluso il movimento del mouse

2020-11-21 Thread roberto meloni
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We noticed that some of the sentences in this bug report
are not in English. If they were translated to English they would be
more understandable to triagers. Could you please translate them?

deleting the application menu from the desktop crashes
any activity except the movement of the mouse

Bug description:
1) click on the application menu launcher (icon at the bottom left)
2) click on the menu launcher or on empty space on the desktop to clear the
screen

By chance the computer freezes, the words "frequent" "all" remain on the
top of the screen
only the mouse symbol moves but all the keys are inactive
the only solution is to turn off the computer with the On / Off button

[Bug 1903027] [NEW] Regression: Unable to run PyGObject using a Virtual Environment after updating to 20.10

2020-11-05 Thread Roberto Leinardi
Public bug reported:

After updating from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 20.10 I am not able to run
PyGObject applications on a Python Virtual Environment.

I can reproduce the issue following these simple steps:

sudo apt-get install python3-venv
python3 -m venv venv
source env/bin/activate
pip install PyGObject==3.38.0
python3 hw.py

Where hw.py is the standard PyGObject Hello World:

#!/usr/bin/env python3

import gi
gi.require_version("Gtk", "3.0")
from gi.repository import Gtk

window = Gtk.Window(title="Hello World")
window.show()
window.connect("destroy", Gtk.main_quit)
Gtk.main()

When I try to run it, it throws this error:

$ python3 hw.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "hw.py", line 3, in
import gi
  File
"/home/leinardi/temp/hw/venv/lib/python3.8/site-packages/gi/__init__.py", line
40, in
from . import _gi
ImportError: libffi.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

Running hw.py on the System Environment of 20.10 works correctly (the issue
only happens when using the Virtual Environment).

A workaround is to find and provide a copy of libffi.so.7 in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ but, since this library version is not
available inside the official repositories of Ubuntu 20.10, this is a
difficult and unsafe operation.

[Bug 95925] Re: debsecan should be either adjusted (for ubuntu) or removed

2020-05-27 Thread Roberto Abdelkader Martínez Pérez
We've just finished a tool to build debsecan suitable databases from the
Ubuntu CVE Tracker data.

It is open source under Apache 2.0 and it is available here:
https://github.com/BBVA/ust2dsa

Using Github's CI we rebuild the databases every 6 hours for them to
contain the latest vulnerability information.

If anybody want to test the result you just have to run this command in
your current Ubuntu installation:

debsecan --suite $(lsb_release --codename --short) --source
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BBVA/ust2dsa/data/

(Note: this is not an official Ubuntu tool)

[Bug 1873523] Re: virtualbox guest additions wont install

2020-04-20 Thread roberto guerda via ubuntu-bugs
Was unable to use apport as described above, but was able to
use ubuntu-bug, but it seemed to upload the data to a "new" bug
on launchpad. I put this number 1873523 in the new bug description

Note: when virtualbox-guest-additions fails, it is not a crash

apport collect 1873523
 returns
apport: command not found

With
 systemctl status apport.service
i've confirmed that apport is
   active (exited)
   tasks(0)

The error when attempting virtualbox-guest-additions came in a pop up
window which would seemingly allow selection of text, but copy and paste
didn't work. I was able to recreate the error and have saved a png image
of the message. How do I upload an image?

[Bug 95925] Re: debsecan should be either adjusted (for ubuntu) or removed

2020-04-20 Thread Roberto Abdelkader Martínez Pérez
We are working in a small piece of software to be able to generate
debsecan compatible databases from the information available in the
Ubuntu Security Tracker. After this is done, with some minor changes to
debsecan, we could solve this issue.

Do this sound like a reasonable idea to you?

[Bug 1856404] [NEW] Software Updater window does not expand on 18.04

The Software updater window should be manually resizable. It should
remember its previous expanded size, but by default should be the same
width as when not expanded, and tall enough to show six items in the
list, with a minimum height of three items.

Ok for me to close it as "won't fix". Just use mod-fastcgi instead of mod-perl.
Christian, no need to thank me for reporting this bug, giving all the detailed
reports, and hinting mod-perl as the triggering cause of this segmentation
fault.
Best regards.

[Bug 1854395] Re: apachectl configtest segmentation fault

2019-12-04 Thread Roberto Nunnari
Hello Paride.

I don't know what else may be relevant to trigger the crash.
libapache2-mod-nss is not relevant at all.. I just installed it in an attemt to
fix the problem but it didn't help.

I'm willing to help debug this, but I need guidance. So please don't
hesitate to ask.

I will now copy/paste here the output of strace as you suggested.

[Bug 1854395] Re: apachectl configtest segmentation fault

2019-12-02 Thread Roberto Nunnari
I just found the config line that makes it crash:

Include /etc/request-tracker4/apache2-modperl2.conf
I still have to look into it, but for now I commented it out.

[Bug 1854395] Re: apachectl configtest segmentation fault

2019-11-29 Thread Roberto Nunnari
Hi.

I just:
1) apt install libapache2-mod-nss
2) a2enmod nss
3) systemctl restart apache2.service

but nothing has changed.. so I'm now going to disable and deinstall
libapache2-mod-nss

[Bug 1854395] Re: apachectl configtest segmentation fault

2019-11-29 Thread Roberto Nunnari
Hi Tom.

The ssl apache module is enabled
There's nothing about nss in mods-enabled/ (but kernel message mentions
libnss_files-2.23.so

When the ssl apache module is disabled, apachectl configtest works.
When the ssl apache module is enabled, apachectl configtest fails with
segmentation fault.

About apport-collect.. I installed it and tried to run "apport-collect
1854395", it opens links but it will not let me login.

Thank you and best regards
Roberto

[Bug 1854395] [NEW] apachectl configtest segmentation fault

2019-11-28 Thread Roberto Nunnari
Public bug reported:

https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/cc6c7e3b-1217-11ea-a637-fa163ee63de6

Hello.

Yesterday I did apt upgrade and after that I noticed that ‘apachectl
configtest’ segfaults.

# apache2ctl configtest
Syntax OK
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Action 'configtest' failed.
The Apache error log may have more information.

Don’t get nothing more in apache error logs, but in syslog (and also in
journalctl -xe) I have:

/var/log/syslog:
Nov 28 15:30:54 ariel kernel: [ 3060.544873] /usr/sbin/apach[7099]: segfault at
7fa10c902510 ip 7fa10c902510 sp 7ffc4d12cc38 error 14 in
libnss_files-2.23.so[7fa10ffc4000+b000]

Yesterday upgrades:
2019-11-27 18:14:23 upgrade libnss3-nssdb:all 2:3.28.4-0ubuntu0.16.04.6
2:3.28.4-0ubuntu0.16.04.8
2019-11-27 18:14:25 upgrade libnss3:amd64 2:3.28.4-0ubuntu0.16.04.6
2:3.28.4-0ubuntu0.16.04.8

My env:
# cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS \n \l

The good part is that I can still use apache with 'apachectl start'
Any hints?

Thank you and best regards.

[Bug 1804542] Re: [SRU] Multiple intermittent socket failures during name resolutions

2019-11-04 Thread Roberto S. Galende
I've installed the patch on a 2nd server with heavy traffic, and all run
as flawlessly as with the previous patch. I think this patch totally fix
the issue and it does not introduce bad behaviours (as far as I've
seen).

[Bug 1804542] Re: [SRU] Multiple intermittent socket failures during name resolutions

2019-10-31 Thread Roberto S. Galende
Hi Łukasz,
I'm testing the proposed patch
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9/1:9.11.3+dfsg-1ubuntu1.10/+build/17958751).

As with the previous patch by Bryce
(https://launchpad.net/~bryce/+archive/ubuntu/bind9-sru-1804542),
everything seems ok by now, with correct operation and absence of the
logs that originated this issue.

I'll give it some more days, and after that I'll apply the proposed
patch on another server with even more traffic, and I'll let you know
the conclusions.

I've tested the patch in two servers with heavy dns traffic showing the
problem, and it has totally disappeared after installation. Also I
haven't noticed any issue in the service after applying the patch.

Thanks for the patch!
I've installed it on a server that showed the problem and it hasn't appeared
anymore.
In next days I'll apply it to another server showing the problem with more
traffic, and I'll let you know the conclusions.

[Bug 1815579] Re: Broken dependencies with nvidia-driver-390 and xserver-xorg-hwe-18.04 in bionic

2019-02-20 Thread Roberto
Hello,
I was affected, I just now tried to re-install nvidia-390 (I purged everything
about nvidia)

"sudo apt-get install nvidia-390", and after that and reboot everything
works fine with 18.04 hwe kernel

390.87 nvidia driver installed (the link in the posts above is about
390.77 version), I don't know if my box get it from main repository or
from nvidia-ppa, maybe second one

for me bug is closed

[Bug 1804542] Re: Multiple intermittent socket failures during name resolutions

Please, note that this is a known BIND bug, that I think probably should make
its way to the official Ubuntu BIND release:
https://gitlab.isc.org/isc-projects/bind9/issues/180

The main problem for this is that the patch must be backported to BIND 11,
because it has marked as resolved only in BIND 13.2:
https://gitlab.isc.org/isc-projects/bind9/milestones/4

Is this patch feasible for the official BIND of the 18.04.1 release?

I reply to myself: while the version in Xenial is *still* affected with
this bug, any of the later versions is fixed. The version
2.1.26.dfsg1-14 is bugged, but the next one, 2.1.26.dfsg1-15 is not. I
backported the one in Bionic easily and it's working now without
problems.

[Bug 1795121] Re: 18.10: Indicator icons not shown in the panel

2018-09-29 Thread Roberto Leinardi
Ok, I found the source of the problem:

I use a post-installation script for Ubuntu that installs several
packages. This script installed "unity-tweak-tool" and "indicator-
multiload" that have as dependency several Unity and indicators
packages. After I removed those two packages, all the unused
dependencies and a relogin, the indicator icons came back.

[Bug 1767259] Re: ubuntu 18.04 The 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' package failed to install into / targer.

I thought I'd comment that I just got the same error, but it was my
mistake - I was manually partitioning the disk, and I didn't include the
required ~200MB FAT32-formatted, bootable partition with an esp flag
that's needed for this type of bootup.

[Bug 1776809] Re: package winbind 2:4.7.6+dfsg~ubuntu-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: installed winbind package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2018-06-14 Thread Roberto
Hello Andreas,

Checking with testparm as you recommended showed me the problem,

Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384)
handle_name_resolve_order: WARNING: Ignoring invalid list value 'hosts' for
parameter 'name resolve order'
Error loading services.

The problem was in the line "name resolve order" of the smb.conf file. It had
this:

name resolve order = bcast hosts lmhosts wins

I deleted the word "hosts" and now winbind starts ok. Don't really know why
this happened (the "hosts" word I mean), since I haven't messed with smb.conf
in quite a while, but since 18.04 upgrade I had this issue, but it seems to be
fixed now.

Thanks for your help.

PS: i attached the smb.conf just in case you want to check.

I have same problem on HP Proliant ML350 G5 on P400 smart array board,
it's a kernel issue, last working kernel from ubuntu ppa or kernel.org

Tested also other live distrobutions with kernel 4.15 or 4.14 same
