[Bug 1212400] [NEW] flush after copy
Public bug reported: I think every day-to-day Linux user has come across the problem quite frequently by now, as it's by now means specific to elementary OS (and thus, I must admit I'm not certain whether I filed this report under the right project). Insert a USB drive (in this case a 4GB one with a FAT32 file system), copy a large file like a movie to it. Result: The copy dialog will show up, and within 10 seconds or so the bar is at 100% and it says "0 seconds remaining". After that you still have to wait ~5 minutes for the data to actually be copied. When looking at iotop during tis time you can see a process called flush is still actively working (the weird thing is that it's often more like 80%+ IO for a while, then nothing for a while, and repeat until finished). When it's finally done, the file copy dialog will disappear and you can safely unmount the storage media. This is a longstanding problem preset in many distro's, and I think it's about time something was done about it. Although I don't really know whether it's related to the file manager or something else. But seeing as I wouldn't have a clue what else it'd be related to, I chose to file it as a bug in the file manager. ** Affects: nautilus Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: pantheon-files Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: copy cut external-media file media paste usb ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2013-08-14 21:12:03.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1212400/+attachment/3772988/+files/Screenshot%20from%202013-08-14%2021%3A12%3A03.png ** Also affects: nautilus Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1212400 Title: flush after copy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1212400/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1008190] [NEW] Not available for other Linux distros
Public bug reported: The Ubuntu One Client is available for Windows, Android, iPhone, iPad and Ubuntu. That's great, but I'm missing two major platforms here. Mac OS (which this bug report isn't about), and ... every other non-Ubuntu-based Linux distro out there. Ubuntu One will never be a decent alternative to other services like Dropbox, as long as it can only be used on one Linux distro; even now the client can finally be considered stable. I am running Ubuntu on my desktop, and I wanted to give Fedora 17 a try on my laptop, as Ubuntu is becoming too much of a resource hog to use fluently on that particular system. My setup was done, I had installed everything I use on a daily basis, appart from Ubuntu One. I searched in the repositories, and found nothing. No surprise there. I went to the Ubuntu One website, and went through to the download page. I found instructions on how to install it on Windows, iPad, iPod and Android. For Ubuntu all there was was this message: "Ubuntu One is installed by default if you are running Ubuntu". Nothing what so ever is mentioned about other Linux distributions. I Googled it, and apparently a lot of people ran into the same problem. I found a bunch of alternative solutions. I tried them all, and nothing worked. You could argue whether this is a bug, but in my opinion it is. It is a *big* problem, which needs a solution, and rather sooner than later. This is probably one if the biggest factors that plays a role in Ubuntu One's success, or lack thereof. All that can be found on this subject in the Ubuntu docs is a link to a project which no longer works. For now, I'm just going to copy all my files from my Ubuntu One folder to my Dropbox, and dump Ubuntu One untill there is a solution for this problem. ** Affects: ubuntuone-client Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ubuntuone-client (Fedora) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: distro linux platform support ubuntuone ubuntuone-client ** Also affects: ubuntuone-client (Fedora) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1008190 Title: Not available for other Linux distros To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+bug/1008190/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 994089] [NEW] Takes a long time to boot and can't login
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS AMD64, running Unity, using nvidia-current -- My previous boot took a really long time (just staring at the boot screen), and when it finally proceeded, I couldn't login. I entered my password as usual, and LightDM simply restarted. Only now it didn't seem to respond to my keyboard anymore (it wasn't unresponsive on the whole, as it still jumped to the other screen when I moved my cursor over there). After rebooting, the problem was gone. I installed the latest updates this morning, that's probably the only special thing that happened. If you need any log files appart from the one I provide, just ask. I've copied my whole log folder before I rebooted the system. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 boot crash init lightdm ubuntu-12.04 unresponsive -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994089 Title: Takes a long time to boot and can't login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/994089/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 993480] [NEW] Default wallpaper at login screen
Public bug reported: This happens on both my laptop (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, AMD64, Unity 2D, nvidia-current) and my desktop (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, AMD64, Unity, nvidia-current). I think it just used to work in Beta 2. -- On both computers, my wallpaper is set to `/home/robin/Ubuntu One/Wallpapers/Mockingjay.jpg`, and I already tried `chmod 777`. [Bug 990080] [NEW] Unity plugin can still be disabled
Public bug reported: In the main window of CCSM you cannot disable the Unity plugin anymore, which is a good thing. However, if you click on the plugin, you can still disable it with the checkbox on the left. Screenshot: http://minus.com/ms3TWvk9H/5 Also, when a user tries to boot into the "Ubuntu" session, I think it should be checked whether the Unity plugin is still enabled, and if it is not, enable it automatically (or at least ask the user if it should be enabled). [Bug 986810] [NEW] Kernel panic when using bluetooth

[Bug 984991] Re: [Latitude D620, SigmaTel STAC9200, Speaker, Internal] Sound gone after playing with volume
And my sound is, once again, gone... I think it might have happened with the latest updates I installed, as I didn't have this problem in the afternoon. [Bug 985039] [NEW] Graphical distortion when dragging icons from Dash
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 AMD64, running Unity 2D, using nvidia-current for an NVidia Quadro NVS 110M -- Sometimes, when I start dragging an icon from the Unity 2D Dash, some graphical distortion pops up on the background of the icon that's being dragged. Sometimes this means a bunch of coloured lines, sometimes this means a tiny green pixel in the upper left corner of the icon's (transparent) background. This also doesn't always occur. Somestimes the transparent part of the background is filled with the icon of the item I last dragged as well.
