for F in /var/log/dmesg /var/log/fsck/checkroot /var/log/fsck/checkfs

Commenting #/var/log/fsck/checkfs and executing dpkg --configure -a
solves the problem each time it occurs.

uncomment the line again after solving the problem, until it occurs

[Bug 1384232] Re: Certificate hostname verification fix

2014-10-22 Thread Roca
We sent email to cve-ass...@mitre.org and got the following response,
but we don't agree that this is an intentionally made.

This patch appears to be outside the scope of CVE. For issues of this type, the
scope of CVE is limited to unintentional implementation mistakes. Here, the
vendor intentionally did not do a hostname check because (quoting
http://bugs.exim.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1479#c2) Exim is an MTA, there has been
no sane approach to determining a hostname suitable for verification of
certificate identity. The vendor went on to implement a useful security
enhancement in response to your report.
This is a very good outcome, but security enhancements are not assigned CVE-IDs.

[Bug 1374729] Re: X509 certificate verification problem

2014-10-20 Thread Roca
We have contacted the upstream and check out their latest SVN. We are
sure that IMAPproxy in Ubuntu packages(all version) is vulnerable due to
the missing of SSL certificate validation. This is fixed in the upstream
on Jan 20th 2014. Please check their latest version, the changes are
mainly in
https://svn.code.sf.net/p/squirrelmail/code/trunk/imap_proxy/src/main.c.
The developer from upstream added support for up to TLS v1.2; added
support for ECDHE ciphers; added ability to manually specify TLS
ciphers; added server certificate validation (all thanks to Emmanuel
Dreyfus). They add a option to let user decide if they want to enforce
SSL certificate validation. So please fix as the upstream did.
